Chapter 136: A Ghost?
Ever since Li Mu noticed that his chest was starting to grow and just beginning to show, he had gotten used to sticking two band-aids on it every night after taking a shower.
But band-aids weren’t made for this, and as his chest got bigger and paler, they didn’t really work anymore.
Li Mu had already been thinking about buying a bra for a while, but he always hesitated.
Especially in the school dorm, there was no way to change bras there, he couldn’t wash them, and hiding them would be a big problem too.
The three of them went back to Li Mu’s apartment, carrying many shopping bags.
Xiao Jing happily ran off to change clothes. Soon she came out wearing shorts and a short-sleeved top.
Unfortunately, she had no chest, no hips, and her legs were so skinny they looked like sticks, not enough to catch anyone’s attention.
Li Mu glanced at her, then looked down at his own legs, which were fleshy but also well-formed and balanced. “I’m supposed to be the guy here...”
“Sister, aren’t you going to try on your bra?” Xiao Jing asked.
“Call me brother.”
Li Mu slumped onto the sofa, already regretting spending so much money on impulse.
Yu Fan kept sneaking glances at Li Mu’s chest, but it was tightly wrapped in his jacket, so he couldn’t see much.
“But if you don’t wear one, won’t your chest start to sag?” Xiao Jing said with a sweet smile. “Then Brother Yu Fan won’t like you anymore.”
“......”
What is this girl even thinking?!
Li Mu glared at her.
Xiao Jing had lost her memories from when she was alive, so how could she still say things like this?
Li Mu leaned back on the couch, completely drained. Sleepiness started to take over again.
He had barely slept in the past few days while searching for Xiao Jing, just a few hours in total.
Now that she was found and taken care of, his body was finally asking for rest.
Yu Fan had already passed out on the couch and was snoring loudly.
Xiao Jing, bored, was watching TV. Maybe she had gotten used to being bored while living in the mirror, because even now, she couldn’t sit still.
She took off her own head and started braiding its hair into a ponytail while watching TV.
Even though her head had makeup on and looked cute, the whole scene was kind of creepy.
Li Mu really couldn’t handle it.
So he stood up and said, “I’m going to my room to sleep.”
“Then where will I sleep from now on?”
Li Mu paused and said, “When I wake up, I’ll clean the master bedroom. You can sleep there.”
The master bedroom hadn’t been touched in a while, it was still the same as when his parents used to live there.
Maybe Xiao Jing could find some of her past memories there, and maybe she’d stop calling him “sister.”
She hadn’t called him that before she had a real body… Maybe now that she had one, she was acting more playful and wild.
Just as he was about to go to sleep, there was a knock on the front door.
“Who is it?”
“It’s me, Zhang Hui! So you are home, huh?”
“Cousin?” Li Mu was surprised. He walked to the door, opened it a crack, and peeked outside.
It really was Zhang Hui.
“What’s going on?”
“Grandpa kicked me out again,” Zhang Hui said with a bitter face. “He doesn’t want me staying in the countryside. I figured staying here for a few days would be cheaper than a hotel. And look at that, you’re actually home. No school today?”
Li Mu ignored that last part and said with a blank face, “That’s what happens when you don’t get a job.”
“I was really sick a while ago, had a high fever. I’m only just getting better.”
As he spoke, Zhang Hui started pushing the door open. Li Mu was going to move aside and let him in, but suddenly, something didn’t feel right.
How was he going to explain Xiao Jing?
Before he could react, the door was already open. Zhang Hui stepped in with a smile, kicking off his shoes, then saw Xiao Jing sitting in front of the TV, smiling at him… just after putting her head back on.
Zhang Hui turned his head and looked at Yu Fan, who was sleeping on the sofa. He smiled and said, “Your house is really lively...”
But suddenly, he froze. His eyes widened in shock as he stared at Xiao Jing, who was smiling sweetly.
Xiao Jing glared at him angrily. “Who are you?!”
This girl was super territorial, like an animal protecting its space. So far, the only people she could accept in the house were Li Mu, Yu Fan, and Ren Tianyou, the neighbor.
Li Mu sighed. He didn’t know how to explain that someone had come back from the dead, so he made something up.
“This is... my cousin!”
“Huh?”
“My cousin from my dad’s side. Her name is Xiao Jing,” he lied with all his might. “Her parents are away on a business trip, so she’s staying at my place.”
Zhang Hui thought her voice sounded really familiar. She also looked a lot like Li Mu’s younger sister from before.
He asked in disbelief, “Your cousin looks that much like your sister?”
“Well, we have the same grandpa,” Li Mu replied firmly with a nod.
Zhang Hui scratched his head. He still couldn’t really accept Xiao Jing’s presence. After all, this girl looked way too much like his cousin who had passed away a few years ago, almost exactly the same.
The only small difference was that she seemed to be wearing makeup.
Also...
Zhang Hui looked at Li Mu’s face… and then, without meaning to, his eyes moved lower.
Why does my cousin Li Mu look more and more like a girl?
Back then, he used to hate how soft and girly Li Mu looked and acted. But now, he didn’t feel annoyed at all.
Because now, Li Mu didn’t even seem like a guy to him anymore.
That chest especially, there’s no way that belongs to a boy.
Li Mu was still thinking hard about how to fool Zhang Hui. And not just him, he had to come up with an excuse for the neighbor auntie and Ren Tianyou too. Sooner or later, other friends and relatives would see Xiao Jing.
“Um… so what about me?”
Zhang Hui spoke again, and Li Mu finally looked up.
“I have school tomorrow. Before I come back on Friday, you have to find a job.”
“Alright, fine.”
Then Li Mu suddenly remembered something important and quickly warned, “Don’t touch anything in the house, especially near the bathroom.”
“What’s up with the bathroom?”
“I don’t like people messing with my stuff.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t touch anything in your room or bathroom,” Zhang Hui said as he carried his suitcase inside.
But Xiao Jing exploded with anger. She bared her teeth and shouted, “Get out!”
“Xiao Jing!” Li Mu frowned and scolded her.
“No! This is my house!” Xiao Jing yelled loudly.
“Stop it!”
Only then did she calm down a little. She huffed and stomped into Li Mu’s bedroom.
Zhang Hui looked completely confused and quietly asked, “Why did she say this is her house?”
And that “Get out”... it sounded really familiar.
So familiar, in fact, that he felt like he’d heard it over and over again in his dreams.
“There's something wrong with her head. Got kicked in the head by a donkey once,” Li Mu said with a straight face, pointing at the sofa. “You can sleep on the couch. My classmate will leave once he wakes up.”
“Oh... okay...” Zhang Hui nodded, but he still felt uneasy.
Last time he was here, he only stayed for about an hour. Then came a wave of cockroaches… and he even ran into a ghost.
To be honest, stepping into this house again made him feel kind of nervous.
Wait a second… a ghost?
Suddenly, he remembered exactly where he had heard Xiao Jing’s voice before.
