Chapter 28: Angels Really Do Exist
Chen Chen was a volunteer during the military training.
At first, he hadn't planned to sign up. But this was the first time Tian Siyi was taking part in an event like this as a girl, and he couldn't help worrying about her.
Fortunately, most college students weren't interested in military training. Being a volunteer meant a lot of work, very few credits, and spending the hot summer outside without air conditioning, so hardly anyone signed up.
As soon as Chen Chen applied, he was accepted.
After arriving, he found that the job wasn't nearly as troublesome as people said.
Most of the work was just helping with logistics, and there wasn't much to do.
Although they couldn't stay in an air-conditioned room, they could at least rest in the shade.
Most of the time, while the freshmen were doing military training, the volunteers simply moved boxes of water and waited in the shade.
If a student felt sick or fainted, they would help take them to the medical office.
At this time of day, there were three volunteers on duty, including Chen Chen.
They were all pretty free.
They were supposed to keep an eye on things, but if something happened, the instructors would call them over. Otherwise, they could chat or use their phones without any problem.
"Man, this is so boring. I thought watching other people do military training would be fun, but it's actually really dull."
"Oh, by the way, have you checked the school forum? They say an angel has appeared in the medical office."
As soon as Chen Chen heard "medical office," he immediately thought of Tian Siyi.
If someone new had arrived there, it could only be her.
"What angel?" he quickly asked.
"This one. She's really beautiful, and she sings amazingly."
Chen Chen leaned over to look.
Sure enough, it was Tian Siyi.
The picture looked like it had been secretly taken through the window.
That reminded Chen Chen of the two boys he had seen crouching outside the medical office window at lunchtime.
So those two had actually been recording Tian Siyi while she was singing.
No wonder they had closed the curtains afterward.
Apparently, those boys weren't even the first people trying to peek inside.
Tian Siyi's charm was even greater than he had imagined.
"This girl is definitely going to become a campus goddess. The campus beauty ranking is about to change again. I wonder who's getting pushed down."
"Probably everyone below her will move down one place."
Chen Chen felt a headache coming on.
Now that this post had been published, it would be almost impossible for Tian Siyi to stay unknown.
Although this would help her gain many fans, it would also make many people dislike her.
Take the campus beauty ranking, for example.
If Tian Siyi ended up ranking too high, fans of the other girls on the list would definitely be unhappy. Sooner or later, someone would start spreading rumors and trying to damage her reputation.
These were things she would have to face eventually.
He had only hoped they would come a little later, so Tian Siyi could first get through her biggest challenge for now, military training, in peace.
Chen Chen asked, "Is that post getting a lot of attention?"
"Yeah. It was posted less than two hours ago, and it's already got over a thousand views and several hundred comments. It's been on the front page the whole time."
On a public social media platform, those numbers wouldn't be anything special.
But this was the school's forum.
Usually, only students and staff from the university visited it. And right now, the freshmen were busy with military training while the upper-year students were still on vacation.
There weren't many people using the forum in the first place.
It looked like they would have to move their plans forward.
Fortunately, Tian Siyi seemed to be adapting pretty well.
"Someone fainted!"
The shout from the distance caught everyone's attention.
Chen Chen immediately ran over.
The girl hadn't completely passed out. She was still a little conscious, but she looked dizzy, and her face was very pale.
By coincidence, Chen Chen recognized her.
She was one of the girls who had been peeking at Tian Siyi through the medical office window at lunchtime.
Part of him wanted to teach her a lesson, but with her in this condition, getting her to the medical office came first.
Carrying the stretcher, Chen Chen rushed into the medical office and pushed the door open.
"Siyi, we've got a patient!"
Tian Siyi didn't come over. Instead, Qin Siyu quickly stepped forward to check the girl's condition and immediately gave orders.
"Chen Chen, help me move her onto the bed. Siyi, go get some ice."
"Okay!"
While Chen Chen and Qin Siyu lifted the girl onto the bed, Tian Siyi returned with a bag of ice.
The moment she saw the girl's face, she froze.
Chen Chen had recognized her, and she did too.
The girl was one of the people who had blocked her before.
"What are you standing there for? The ice!"
Qin Siyu's voice snapped her back to reality. She quickly placed the bag of ice on the girl's forehead.
"I'll get her some water," Tian Siyi said.
Qin Siyu nodded, then turned to Chen Chen and the other volunteer.
"Thanks for your hard work. Sit down and rest for a while."
Tian Siyi first poured two cups of water for the volunteers who had brought the patient in.
Then she quickly poured another cup for the girl lying on the bed, Yan Yue.
She sat beside her, gently blew on the hot water until it had cooled enough, then carefully lifted Yan Yue's head and helped her drink a little.
Yan Yue hadn't completely lost consciousness. Her mind was just foggy.
When the water touched her lips, she drank without resisting.
Mo Yang watched everything quietly and whispered to Chen Chen,
"She really is an angel. Her own foot hasn't even healed yet, but she's still taking such good care of someone else."
Chen Chen smiled. "What if I told you that this girl was one of the people who bullied her before?"
"What?" Mo Yang's eyes widened.
He suddenly remembered the surprised look on Tian Siyi's face when she first saw Yan Yue.
Maybe it really was true.
"Wait... how do you know that?"
Chen Chen gave a simple explanation.
"We're good friends."
"I see. No wonder the instructor knew your name."
Mo Yang looked at Tian Siyi again.
There wasn't the slightest trace of resentment in her eyes.
She was simply focused on taking care of a classmate suffering from heatstroke.
"So this is what it means to repay hatred with kindness... It turns out angels really do exist in this world."
The way Mo Yang looked at Tian Siyi changed.
At first, he had simply been admiring a beautiful girl. Now, there was also respect and admiration in his eyes.
Seeing this, Chen Chen couldn't help smiling.
Since Tian Siyi couldn't avoid everyone's attention anyway, they might as well continue building a good image for her.
Of course, Tian Siyi wasn't actually the kind of person who repaid hatred with kindness.
In her mind, these were two separate matters.
Yan Yue blocking her before was a personal conflict.
But helping Yan Yue now was part of her responsibility as an assistant in the medical office.
Besides, what Yan Yue had done wasn't a crime deserving death.
Saving lives and treating the injured should always come first.
After some time, Yan Yue gradually became fully conscious. The first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was Tian Siyi's beautiful face.
Instead of feeling relieved, she was so startled that she immediately tried to get out of bed.
Tian Siyi gently but firmly pressed her back down. "Don't move."
Confused, Yan Yue looked at Tian Siyi, then glanced around the room.
"Have some more water."
Before she could respond, Tian Siyi's gentle voice sounded again beside her.
Yan Yue accepted the cup, took a sip, and gave her a small nod.
"Thank you."
After resting for a moment, she quietly asked, "Why did you help me?"
Tian Siyi shrugged and answered calmly,
"What else was I supposed to do? I couldn't just let you die here."
"Right now, I'm a nurse. My job is to save people and take care of the injured."
"As for the problems between you and me, we can talk about those after you leave this place."
