[Vol. 6] Chapter 244: Ming Xin
Above the Outer Skies of [Mirror Valley]
As the leaking destructive energy continued to accumulate, this thousand-year-old force began to erode the underground spirit veins, turning the entire [Ancient Spirit Realm] into an enormous center of extreme Yin energy.
This resulted in more and more powerful demons being born and nurtured without end.
However, this was within Spirit Veil Immortal Island’s expectations.
The high-ranking cultivators, those who had reached the [Seeker of Immortality] level and beyond, were battling fiercely in the skies, using their spiritual treasures or sheer physical strength to stand their ground.
Their mission: to hold back the invading minions of “Destruction.”
“Ugh—!”
A jade flute, wielded like a weapon, clashed against the razor-sharp claws of a beast-shaped demon.
Under the impact, Ming Lianxin was sent flying hundreds of meters back, barely managing to regain her footing with the help of her clan members rushing in from behind.
“Are you alright, Sister Lianxin?”
The one who caught her was a calm and composed yet noticeably younger-looking girl, seemingly no older than thirteen or fourteen.
Her round, chubby cheeks still carried a hint of childlike innocence, making her look adorably delicate, like a porcelain doll.
Like the others of her clan, she had white fox ears atop her short black hair, marking her heritage.
But despite her appearance, she was no ordinary child.
As a member of the Spirit Veil Tribe, she was eternal and ageless. Her true power was far greater than it seemed.
This was evident from her elegant battle armor, the gigantic floating greatsword trailing behind her, and the fact that she could walk on air effortlessly.
“I’m fine…” Ming Lianxin exhaled before nodding.
“Sister Xin, you arrived just in time! What’s the situation above?”
The fox-eared girl, though youthful in appearance, carried the aura of a seasoned warrior.
She nodded slightly and responded, her voice steady.
“The link-up is going smoothly. The support structures set up in [Mirror Valley] should hold for a while.”
“Some of our tribe members have already joined the battlefield, but if we want to fully unleash the power of our base, it’ll take more time…”
“After all, we’re not the young lady.”
Ming Lianxin thought for a moment before nodding in agreement.
“No problem. Let everyone join the battle first. The influence of Destruction is still growing. We must hold the frontlines at all costs.”
“Our goal isn’t to defeat them. Just to maintain the balance.”
“Understood. Team Two, move in!”
The small fox-eared girl waved her hand, and in an instant, dozens of Spirit Veil warriors, who had already assembled in formation, shot forward into the raging battlefield.
However, as their commander, she did not immediately join the fight.
Instead, she remained standing beside Ming Lianxin, who was still catching her breath.
Suddenly, the young girl’s expression changed slightly, and she turned her gaze toward a specific location within [Mirror Valley].
"Lianxin, the core, the mass of destructive energy that had been accumulating for a thousand years, just disappeared. It vanished just moments ago."
"Oh, that’s great new… Wait, WHAT?!"
Having been completely focused on the battle ahead, Lianxin instinctively responded casually. But then froze.
Her eyes widened in shock, as if she had just heard something impossible.
The young Spirit Veil girl, Xin, let out a small, wry smile.
“I know. It’s hard to believe, right?”
“But it’s true.”
“When I got the report from the monitoring station, I was just as shocked.”
“It wasn’t transferred somewhere else.”
“It wasn’t sealed away.”
“It was completely erased. Gone.”
“But that was…!”
Lianxin struggled to process the information.
That destructive energy had already surpassed the critical threshold by at least six times over.
Even if some of it had leaked out and dissipated, the remaining power should have still been on par with the [Beast of Chaos] from a thousand years ago.
And yet. It had been wiped out entirely.
“Looks like you guys really found yourselves an absolutely absurd ally this time.”
Lianxin took a deep breath, trying to suppress her lingering shock, her expression now filled with complex emotions.
“So this is the Heaven’s Chosen One…? But I still don’t understand…”
“Why would a God-level powerhouse suddenly appear in the [Ancient Spirit Realm]?”
“And why would they go this far to help us?”
“What exactly has the Young Lady been planning…?”
“Enough.”
Xin shook her head.
“The Young Lady’s wisdom is beyond what we can fathom.”
“Just focus on doing our part.”
“…You’re right.”
Lianxin turned her gaze back to the battlefield.
“No matter what the plan is, this is a disaster that threatens the entire [Ancient Spirit Realm].”
“If we fail to sever the source of this calamity, then even the Young Lady herself, as powerful as she is, won't be able to save the world alone.”
“I just hope…”
“Wait! Silence!”
Before Lianxin could finish her sentence, Xin’s expression suddenly changed!
The massive greatsword that had been floating behind Xin, towering over her small frame, instantly snapped into her grip.
With its blade pointed forward, she commanded.
"Who’s spying on us? Show yourself!"
Seeing Xin’s reaction, Ming Lianxin immediately tensed up as well.
She raised her jade flute, shifting into a combat stance.
After all, Xin was more experienced, more powerful, and had a stronger sense for hidden threats than she did.
And among the demonic forces, there were countless creatures capable of concealing themselves and launching stealth assassinations.
On a battlefield like this, they couldn’t afford to let their guard down.
A moment of tense silence followed.
Then, a voice filled with mild frustration and resignation broke the stillness.
“Damn, this thing is getting more and more useless… I should probably just toss it away…”
A cloak with an unusual color was suddenly lifted aside.
Just a few meters away, in midair, a black-haired, white-robed figure appeared, revealing herself.
Seeing this, Xin remained cautious, her expression unreadable.
But Ming Lianxin froze for a moment. Then, instinctively lowered her weapon.
“Huh? Lady Violet? When did you get here?”
“Let me make this clear. I wasn’t eavesdropping on purpose…”
The one caught in the act, naturally, was none other than Miss Priestess herself.
After realizing that Xiao Kong and Hen had vanished without a trace, Violet’s first instinct had been to track down Ming Lianxin, the last person who had been with Xiao Kong, and ask her what happened.
But with the entire [Mirror Valley] caught in all-out war, the battlefield was chaotic beyond measure.
Wanting to avoid unnecessary distractions and get here as quickly as possible, she had used her [Chameleon Cloak] to conceal her presence.
But she hadn’t expected to be discovered immediately. Before she even had a chance to say hello.
It was… honestly, a little awkward.
“So, you’re Lady Violet?”
Xin still seemed a bit hesitant and cautious, as if she were sensing something unusual from the black-haired priestess.
But after Ming Lianxin gave her a reassuring nod, she finally relaxed.
Lowering her oversized greatsword, she gave Violet a formal bow. Her tone now respectful yet intrigued.
“I am Ming Xin, Captain of Spirit Veil Immortal Island’s External Defense Force. We are deeply grateful for the help you have given our people and the [Ancient Spirit Realm]. If the opportunity ever arises…”
“Would you be willing to spar with me? I would love to witness, firsthand, just how powerful the strength of someone who defeated the [Beast of Chaos] alone truly is.”
“Huh? Oh… I don’t really mind, but…”
Violet was momentarily caught off guard by Xin’s unexpected challenge, blinking in mild confusion.
But before she could respond, Xin simply shook her head and cut her off.
“Of course, not now. Lianxin, I’ll leave the rest to you. That person… is fully prepared.”
*BOOM!!!*
A powerful sonic boom erupted, sending shockwaves rippling through the air.
In the next instant, the small fox-eared girl wielding her oversized greatsword vanished, launching herself straight into the ferocious aerial battle raging in the distance.
Watching Xin disappear in an instant, Ming Lianxin let out an awkward laugh, glancing at Violet apologetically.
“Uh… Please don’t mind Sister Xin. She’s a bit… blunt. She’s… very straightforward. But she’s actually a really good person, I promise…”
Violet simply shook her head and smiled.
“It’s fine. I don’t dislike people like her.”
Besides… This Ming Xin definitely had the strength to back up her attitude.
Violet nodded slightly, turning her gaze toward the battlefield, where the small figure of Xin was already tearing through enemy lines, leaving a trail of destruction in her wake.
Even among the ranks of the Evil Spirits, few could stand against her. Spirit Veil Immortal Island truly had terrifying foundations.
A Demigod level person had just been sent out casually, as if it were no big deal. On the surface, the term demigod might seem like just another level, the peak of pseudo-god.
But in reality, the difference between a regular level 70+ powerhouse and a true demigod was staggering.
It was like a test paper. Scoring 90+ meant you were at a certain skill level. But…
Scoring 100 meant you had hit the system’s limit, not because you couldn’t go further, but because the scoring scale itself didn’t allow anything higher. Strength wasn’t just about levels.
Even if a creature was capped at a certain level, that didn’t mean they couldn’t continue growing stronger.
There were many ways to break beyond the numbers.
Aside from [Nameless Demon Sovereign], who relied on exploits and loopholes, a true demigod had already reached the absolute limit of power.
And in the [Ancient Spirit Realm], Violet had only encountered two such beings so far.
Peach Blossom Sage, one of the masters of Peach Blossom Peak, who had perfected the art of spatial techniques, akin to a high-level mage.
Ming Xin, despite her childlike appearance, she was a pure warrior, much like Minchen, but on an even higher level.
Unlike Peach Blossom Sage, who focused on technique and dimensional mastery, Xin embodied raw physical combat.
Though she looked young and delicate, Violet could feel the sheer explosive power hidden within her small frame. A body tempered to its absolute peak.
If she had to compare, Xin’s true combat strength might even surpass Minchen’s. For a normal being, this seemingly cute little girl might just be one of the strongest warriors she had ever seen.
