[Vol. 6] Chapter 256: Ambush in the Abyss
To be honest, Dawn had never fought against that nameless entity before.
In fact, no one who had ever come into contact with it had returned alive, making it impossible to gauge its true strength.
However, there was one fortunate detail. The entity hadn’t awakened naturally in its full power.
Instead, it had been stirred into consciousness by the concept of “Creation” itself.
Because of this, certain divine calculations suggested that it wasn’t completely unstoppable.
For the first time in history, the gods united in an effort to seal it away once more, hoping to delay or even prevent the arrival of complete annihilation.
Both the Spirit Fox Shrine Maiden and the Fox God played a role in this grand effort.
But Dawn thought further than the rest. If her attempt to create a world was what had triggered the awakening of the [Apocalypse].
Then that meant. It truly feared the act of creation.
[Creation of the world Project] could no longer move forward as planned.
But Dawn refused to abandon the seed she had worked so hard to nurture.
On the contrary, she would use the power of the [Illusory World] to fight for the only real chance of survival.
The chance to defy “destruction”.
The chance to reclaim the [Primordial Light].
The very first spark of existence, the source of all things.
Since the [Primordial Light] was something that existed beyond understanding, Dawn’s memories didn’t contain clear instructions on how to reach it.
But based on what she had left behind. It was highly possible that she had, at some level, made contact with that power.
Even so, Violet didn’t think that she was the [Primordial Light]. She was no all-powerful creator.
At best, she was just a bit stronger than most. A little tougher, a little better at fighting.
As for the truth behind it all.
Right now, there was probably only one person who knew.
Since Dawn had stepped into the battlefield herself, there had to be someone outside the conflict to oversee the plan.
And the only one who could take on that role was the Fox God, also known as Konghen, the Nine-Tailed Fox.
But Konghen had an even greater responsibility. To guard the [Ancient Spirit Realm] and fight off the invasion of corrupted beings.
There was no way she could do both at the same time.
So, to support her closest friend, Konghen volunteered to use Dawn’s divine power to split herself into two.
Using the concept of Divinity, she separated her true form into two distinct existences.
Kong and Hen.
Hen, the rational side, was calm, wise, and logical.
She took full responsibility for the future of [Creation of the world Project].
Meanwhile, Xiao Kong retained her wild nature, continuing to rule as the Nine-Tailed Fox, maintaining the role of the Fox God.
To outsiders, nothing seemed to have changed.
Although Konghen had been divided, she still represented the concept of space and retained independent thought.
But in the end, they were still one and the same.
They both shared the Divinity of Space, meaning each of them could wield its full power.
However, the world maintains balance, and divine power cannot simply double in strength.
If Kong and Hen were present in the same world, their powers would be split, weakening them. Each could only use the portion of space’s authority that they represented.
But if they existed in separate worlds. Then there would be two Fox Gods. Two true gods.
This remarkable feat was one of Dawn’s greatest discoveries from her experiments in world creation.
But unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to change the impending crisis.
Eventually, Hen left the [Ancient Spirit Realm] and never returned.
At the same time, Dawn, fully immersed in [Creation of the world Project], vanished without a trace.
This was…
The only information left within her Divinity.
Violet had no idea how Dawn had actually "died" and how the [Illusory World] had ended up appearing on her previous Earth in the form of a game.
But the fact that she had encountered Hen in that game and later returned to the [Ancient Spirit Realm] as Violet.
Meant that everything was still unfolding according to plan. At the very least, it hadn’t reached the worst possible outcome.
Truth be told, Violet had always hated being manipulated into action.
But when it came to Hen, she couldn’t bring herself to feel even the slightest resentment.
Even if Hen had approached her with a purpose, The time they spent together, the friendship they shared. That was something that could never be faked.
“That girl…”
Violet took a deep breath, pushing unnecessary thoughts aside. The mysterious spirit maiden she had met earlier…
She was likely Hen’s incarnation, projected into this world from beyond. She possessed Hen’s full personality and logic, but had no memories tied to the core of the crisis.
Instead, she had guided Violet in subtle ways, helping her reach this point. Or rather she was a parallel version of Hen.
Since Kong and Hen were two halves of the same being, they could not coexist in the same world.
If they did, their presence would divide their power, weakening them both.
That’s why, at the perfect moment, Hen chose to leave the [Ancient Spirit Realm],
Restoring the full power of Xiao Kong.
For the entire plan, Hen, who had always been responsible for adjustments and control from outside, was likely to understand it much better than Xiao Kong, who stayed behind in the [Ancient Spirit Realm].
However, since Violet crossed over, Hen had never shown herself or sent any message. It was probably not because Hen didn't want to, but rather because of some hidden difficulties or constraints.
Was something or some force restraining her...?
Well, whatever the reason, Violet decided to focus on solving the immediate problem first.
After finishing her thoughts, Violet turned her head and looked around.
Inheriting a complete Divinity and destiny was a very exhausting process. Even though Violet had fully concentrated on it, she hadn’t paid much attention to what was happening outside.
On this Spirit Veil Immortal Island, the temple personally protected by the Fox God was one of the safest places in the entire [Ancient Spirit Realm]. Violet wasn’t worried that she would face any external threats during the inheritance.
Therefore, she wasn’t sure what had happened outside during this time.
"Not here... has she already left? Then according to the plan, the next step should be..."
A more vast and lively divine consciousness spread out, and the black-haired girl slightly furrowed her brows.
She felt an overwhelming amount of death spreading.
As the Guide between the Underworld and the living world, the Spirit Fox Shrine Maiden possessed the power to perceive all souls and guide the departed. Now that she had inherited all of Dawn’s abilities, Violet could clearly sense that the number of new deaths in the world had already reached an abnormal level. The number was continuing to grow at an alarming rate, thousands of souls per second.
Countless souls ascended to the heavens and surged into the Underworld. This was not a normal phenomenon.
War, disaster, and the cries of the dying...
"Is that so... that power has descended once again. Well, it seems it's time to use the backups we prepared before."
After thinking for a moment, Violet took out a small, delicate white mask and gently put it on her face.
Radiant light flowed, transforming her into the form of a guardian of this world.
Now, Violet no longer needed the Fox Mask as a medium to control Dawn’s power. But it was still a symbol, a token, a lighthouse standing at the edge of the sea of emptiness, representing a god who had already vanished from the world.
The Spirit Veil Saint, the Spirit Fox Shrine Maiden.
Dingling~ Dingling~
The sound of silver bells echoed through the world.
Buzz~Buzz~Buzz~Buzz~
When the figure of the white fox girl appeared once again, the entire vast immortal island trembled, as if it were responding to her presence. The spirits of the Spirit Veil tribe on the island, as well as those on the battlefield, seemed to feel a call and all turned their gazes to a specific direction, their faces filled with shock and joy!
It was the call of the Creator, a renewed connection between the deity and her followers.
"Young Lady..."
"Is it really Young Lady?!"
"Young Lady has returned!!!"
Cheers echoed through the sky. Above the [Mirror Valley], a little fox-eared girl, covered in blood and holding a giant sword, appeared like a god of slaughter. For a moment, she stared blankly, then looked up at the sky, her lips trembling as she murmured softly through the blood rain.
"She... she really has returned..."
"Hey, you idiot! No matter who returns, don’t suddenly stop! Do you want to die?!"
A young man, surrounded by a storm of sword rain, pushed back the nearby monsters, taking the stunned Ming Xin with him as he retreated. He didn’t hesitate to knock her lightly on the head.
"I said, Little Fox, things aren’t looking good... Did you see those weird trees that suddenly grew out of the ground? They're going on a killing spree, and the frontline is about to collapse. Can’t Spirit Veil Immortal Island send out more reinforcements? How much longer until the big move you guys are preparing?"
Ming Xin glanced at her old acquaintance, known as the [Ten Thousand Sword Sovereign], and although her emotions were still wildly fluctuating due to excitement, she nodded toward the sky.
"What's the rush? Now that she’s back, nothing will go wrong on the frontlines. Look, hasn’t she arrived?"
"Huh? So who exactly are you talking about... I can’t believe it!!!"
Suddenly, high above the blood rain, the clouds parted to reveal thousands upon thousands of warriors in gleaming armor. Their towering figures filled the skies with an overwhelming, majestic presence, just like the divine soldiers from myth, descending from the heavens!
At the forefront stood a leader holding a giant sword strikingly similar to Ming Xin’s, the golden armor shining brilliantly under the light. The sound of their arrival was like thunder, declaring to the world the descent of these divine warriors.
"The Celestial Realm Divine Guard Legion is here! We come at the command of our Lord to eradicate the chaotic evil forces of this world!!!"
"Kill!!! Kill!!! Kill!!!"
Countless souls, forged for battle and unyielding after millennia of honing, flew down like waves, swallowing the evil monsters and turning the tide of the battle.
