Chapter 65: Smug Little Succubus
They couldn’t just let An Yuan hide in the bedroom all night, right?
By tomorrow morning, there would be no way to keep hiding him. School was still a thing, and even if An Yuan skipped, Chen Cheng’s mom might come in to clean the room.
The best solution? Find a reason to get her mom to leave the house.
Or, wait until it was late at night, when everything was quiet, and sneak An Yuan out while her mom was asleep.
Chen Cheng clutched her head, feeling a headache coming on. At this point, she could only take things one step at a time.
Honestly, it might’ve been better if her mom had just found out about An Yuan being here from the start. Worst case scenario, she’d get scolded. After all, it was the middle of the day, and they were both fully dressed, her mom might not even think too much about it.
But now? Now it was a whole different story.
If they got caught like this, her mom would definitely think they were up to something.
She’d probably kill them…
Chen Cheng turned on her computer’s music and turned up the volume, letting the sound fill the entire room.
She sat down next to An Yuan, lowering her voice to discuss their next move. But as her eyes glanced downward, she immediately glared at him, annoyed and embarrassed.
"Are you kidding me? It's not over yet?!"
"Huh?"
Looking guilty, An Yuan quickly pulled a blanket over his lap. "I can’t control it, okay?"
"Doesn’t it usually go away after a while?"
"You said usually. I just have… uh, a lot of energy."
After that little moment they had earlier, being alone in a room with a girl made it impossible for An Yuan’s mind not to wander. The softness of her thighs and the scent lingering in the air, his brain had already started filling in the blanks with certain scenarios.
Like some manga scene where the girl kept a straight face in front of her mom while under the table, things were getting out of hand…
"Your brain is the dirty one here."
Chen Cheng turned her face away in disgust, though her cheeks were still red. Not that her thoughts were exactly pure either…
Good thing for girls, though. Even if they had certain thoughts, there were no obvious signs. Unlike guys, who made it way too easy to tell. At least she could still act normal in front of people.
An Yuan? Not so much. The blanket he used to cover himself was still suspiciously tented, making Chen Cheng glance at it with an occasional look of disdain. An Yuan, feeling completely exposed, could only give an awkward laugh.
"I wasn’t thinking about anything, I swear!" He tried to change the subject. "Anyway, how about you make up an excuse to go out shopping with your mom? Then I can sneak out while you’re gone."
Chen Cheng frowned slightly, fiddling with her nails.
"What’s wrong?"
She turned to An Yuan, her expression suddenly shifting into one of amusement. Nudging him with her shoulder, she teased, "Haven’t seen you this flustered in ages. Your face is red like a monkey’s butt~ Are you embarrassed?"
Even after all this time, Chen Cheng rarely saw An Yuan this awkward. Most of the time, he was calm, mature, and annoyingly shameless, like a proper grown-up.
Seeing him look so uncomfortable for once… weirdly felt like a small victory.
Of course, she had no idea that An Yuan was always internally panicking around her.
"……"
An Yuan was speechless. Why does she sound like a smug little succubus right now?
"I’m almost thirty. What’s there to be embarrassed about?" He stubbornly looked away, his ears practically burning. "This is nothing."
"Oh? Then what is something?"
"You ever heard of those business KTVs? Where they line up a bunch of girls for you to pick, and if you don’t like them, they bring in another batch…"
He fell silent as he noticed Chen Cheng’s expression darkening.
"I heard about it from coworkers! I just do tech stuff at work, I’ve never actually been to one!"
"Tsk~ Don’t go to places like that."
"I won’t."
The awkward and tense atmosphere in the room made both of them restless. Chen Cheng kept fiddling with her nails, while An Yuan tried his best to clear his mind and stop thinking about anything inappropriate. He really needed to calm down.
"...Should I leave first?"
Chen Cheng couldn't take the tension anymore. The air in the room felt too charged.
We're supposed to be just friends! But it was his fault for making things so obvious!
"Then what about me? What if your mom suddenly comes in...?"
Hiding under the table wasn't really an option now that Chen Cheng wasn’t there to cover for him. The closet was packed full, definitely not a place to squeeze into. As for the window… it was covered with security bars, and besides, that was way too dangerous.
Chen Cheng flopped onto the bed with a frustrated sigh. "Then what do we do? I can’t just stay out here guarding you forever! Dinner’s gonna be ready soon."
An Yuan turned his head, and his gaze accidentally landed on her.
Chen Cheng's normally firm and well-endowed chest had spread out like water balloons as she lay down. It was obviously natural. Her pajama shirt had been pulled up, showing her slender stomach, radiating a seductive vibe.
What the hell am I looking at?!
He wanted to slap himself.
His body wasn’t completely out of control, he wasn’t about to do anything stupid. But damn, this was torture.
"Let's take a gamble! Hide under the desk for now. If my mom tries to come in, I’ll rush in first and block her."
Taking a deep breath, Chen Cheng quickly planned out what she was going to say in her head. Then, she got up, walked out of the room, and casually shut the door behind her.
"Mom~ Let’s eat out tonight! It’s been so long since we had steak!"
"Steak? And what did you score on your last test to deserve that?"
"Uh..."
Hearing their voices fade into the distance, An Yuan finally let out a breath. He glanced down at the swelling that still hadn't subsided.
No way he can… handle it here.
Even if he did, it wouldn’t help for long. His poor kidneys would just suffer for nothing.
Looking around the room, he carefully tiptoed to the door and peeked out. After some quick thinking, he realized that lying down beside the bed might actually be a safe hiding spot. It was in a blind spot, so unless someone physically walked in, they wouldn’t notice him.
"Come down for dinner in half an hour! I’m not calling you twice."
"Got it!"
Chen Cheng, with a disappointed look, pushed the door open and entered the room. She closed the door and locked it, but when she looked up, An Yuan was nowhere to be seen.
"An Yuan? Where’d you go?"
Suspicious, she walked deeper into the room. After a moment, she finally spotted him lying behind the bed frame, hidden from view.
An Yuan sat up with an awkward expression. "...Well?"
"My mom doesn’t wanna go out," Chen Cheng sighed, sitting on the bed. She leaned back, supporting herself with her hands, and casually swung her legs back and forth. "She usually watches TV in the living room until eleven, then goes to bed. Her door stays open unless my dad’s home."
"If you wanna be extra careful, wait until after midnight. That’s when I usually order late-night snacks."
An Yuan nodded, taking in the info. His eyes, however, kept getting drawn to her dangling feet. He didn’t even realize he had relaxed a little.
"...Wait. You weren’t just now—" Chen Cheng suddenly narrowed her eyes at him.
An Yuan, who had just started feeling less tense, stiffened again. He opened his mouth but had no idea how to defend himself.
Today was a disaster. His entire image in Chen Cheng’s eyes was completely ruined. He wasn’t even sure if they could stay friends after this.
I should’ve kept more distance! I KNOW how sensitive this stupid teenage body is!
"You’re seriously such a perv." Chen Cheng turned her flushed face away. "I’m gonna play on my computer. Hurry up and take care of it so you don’t gross me out."
"……"
Isn't she being a little too considerate?
And a little too casual about this whole thing…
