Chapter 80: A New Week
The next morning, heavy rain started falling outside.
It seemed like the last typhoon of October had arrived. It was supposed to go to the far south, but suddenly it turned and came towards Li Mu’s area.
The typhoon wasn’t very big, but the rain it brought made Fengcheng County a little colder.
Li Mu, dressed neatly, was curled up in his bed but still shivering from the cold.
He opened his eyes, pushed his Stitch doll to the side of the pillow, and then turned over to look at the window.
The window wasn’t closed last night, and the cold rain from the typhoon had already wet the ground. The cold wind was blowing into the room.
“It’s already October, and there’s still a typhoon…”
Luckily, after spending so much time with ghosts and strange things, Li Mu was used to sudden drops in temperature. After a few minutes, his body started to adjust.
He was wearing jeans and a short-sleeve shirt. After taking a shower last night, he carefully changed into these clothes in the bathroom before going to bed.
To be honest, he wasn’t used to it, especially the jeans, they were uncomfortable.
But when he remembered taking off his clothes in the dorm and the looks from his roommates, he felt like this small discomfort wasn’t that bad.
Sitting at the head of the bed, a few minutes later, his sleepy mind slowly woke up. He opened his eyes again and saw that during these few minutes, Zhao Pan had already gotten out of bed and closed the window.
At this point, Li Mu slowly climbed out of his warm bed.
The floor of the dorm was wet, and the rain outside was falling heavily, almost blocking all visibility.
Li Mu felt goosebumps on his skin and rubbed his arms with his hands before sitting down on the chair to put on his shoes.
"Brother Mu, the sports meet is coming up soon, right?" Zhao Pan walked over and proudly said, "During the sports meet, I plan to climb over the wall and go on a date with my girlfriend."
"Oh."
Li Mu looked at the heavy rain outside with a blank expression. "The sports meet might be canceled if it keeps raining."
But speaking of it, Zhao Pan always said he had a girlfriend, but Li Mu had never seen her or even seen a photo of her. He was starting to wonder if Zhao Pan was lying.
"Brother, can you stop cursing me?" Zhao Pan helplessly grabbed his toiletries and left the dorm.
Today was the start of a new week.
The results of the previous audition were already out. He and Yu Fan had made it into the top ten singers with sixth place. Now, they just had to prepare for the New Year’s Eve concert.
Compared to the second round of auditions, where there were just a few dozen or maybe a hundred people watching, the next New Year’s Eve concert would have all the teachers and students attending...
If he remembered correctly, the school had over two thousand teachers and students. That was the conservative estimate, and the real number might be a few hundred more.
Singing in women’s clothes in front of more than two thousand people...
Li Mu imagined that scene and his face turned pale.
If just one person noticed him in women’s clothes, he would completely lose his right to choose a partner among the women in the school.
Sighing to himself, he followed behind Zhao Pan to wash up. Afterward, just like usual, he grabbed his folding umbrella and left the dorm alone.
"Hey, wait for me."
Just as Li Mu stepped out of the dormitory, he heard a shout from behind. He turned around and saw Zhao Yu, the dorm's "otaku."
Zhao Yu had only wiped his face with a towel and was wearing slippers, happily running up to him with a silly smile. "Brother Mu, I don't have an umbrella. Can you share yours with me?"
He copied the way Zhao Pan usually called Li Mu.
"Oh." Li Mu usually didn’t refuse small requests.
Zhao Yu, his roommate, had a gentle appearance and an outgoing personality. He seemed to like anime and even took sick leave last year to go to an anime convention.
As for his personality, Li Mu hadn’t really paid attention, but since he got along well with the other roommates, Li Mu figured there weren’t any major issues with him.
Walking side by side with Zhao Yu out of the dorm building, Li Mu held the umbrella. Half of his shoulder and pants quickly got wet from the rain.
"Brother Mu, where are you planning to take the spring exam?" Zhao Yu asked.
"I haven't thought about it."
"I plan to work after the exam. There's no point in staying in a college. It's just a two-year course." Zhao Yu complained, "Back then, the homeroom teacher said we could take the exam for university, and I thought it was for a bachelor's degree. I got tricked."
"It’s the same. You can take a two-year course and still get into a bachelor’s degree."
Li Mu replied coldly.
If he wasn’t sharing the umbrella with Zhao Yu, his shoulder wouldn’t have gotten wet.
When they finally made it to the classroom, they found only a few students had arrived. It was almost time for the first class, but the heavy rain had likely caused many of the students who commuted from home to be late.
"Li Mu." Yu Fan, who had been waiting, quickly walked up to him as soon as he saw Li Mu entering the classroom.
Li Mu was still standing at the door, shaking the water off the umbrella. He turned around, curious to see what Yu Fan wanted.
A few days ago, Yu Fan had taken leave to help Uncle Chen Yi with an exorcism.
"Don’t look at me like that," Yu Fan said as he leaned on the wall, helpless. "I was there for two days, but didn’t find anything. Later, we found out the person who called the police had a mental illness. We took him to the hospital for an examination, and it turned out he was schizophrenic."
"……"
So, this was a fake report?
"Chen Yi said, even though it's not too common, about seven out of ten cases are like this."
"Mm."
"By the way, this evening, we need to go to a music room." Yu Fan flashed his usual warm smile, making Li Mu's heart skip a beat.
"The school has assigned us a teacher. Every Monday and Wednesday, at 6:30 in the evening, we will have vocal lessons in the dance room."
"So, you might have to dress up as a girl twice a week."
Of course! Whenever you smile like that, something bad is about to happen!
"Think of it as getting used to it early. By the time the New Year’s performance comes, you won’t feel nervous about dressing up as a girl."
"Yeah, sure…"
Li Mu lowered his head, scowling, as he folded the umbrella back up without saying a word and walked to his seat.
Dressing as a girl every day? He couldn’t really accept it.
But strangely, he felt a little excited. The sense of achievement from makeup and the intense thrill was hard to resist. Otherwise, no one would get addicted to high-risk sports.
Plus, he hadn't washed those clothes yet. If he wore the same outfit every time, the teacher might think he never took showers.
The class gradually became livelier as students started talking about the sports meet on Thursday.
For hardworking students, the sports meet was a rare chance to relax, but for someone like Li Mu, who never stayed for evening study sessions, it didn’t really matter.
He wasn’t particularly excited about the sports meet. In fact, he was more concerned about whether he could stay in class. Lately, with all the distractions, he felt like he was falling behind in the class review.
