Chapter 82: Discovered?
From now on, every Monday and Wednesday after school, Li Mu and Yu Fan had to come to this music classroom to learn singing from Yang Ye.
Yang Ye was basically their coach. After all, the final round of the “Top Ten Singers” contest would happen on New Year’s Day, on the big school stage. All the school leaders would be there, and it was also good promotion for the school. So, the school wanted to train these students well.
Li Mu stood off to the side, feeling uneasy. He kept thinking that the homeroom teacher’s smile looked kind of strange.
If this had been the old him, he probably wouldn’t have noticed anything. But ever since he had become more “feminine,” his thinking also seemed more sensitive.
While listening to Yang Ye teach Yu Fan, Li Mu’s mind started wandering with all kinds of strange thoughts.
Could it be that Yang Ye had some secret plans for him?
But Yang Ye had always been nice to him, and didn’t seem like the type to have hidden intentions.
Wait a second, Yang Ye was over thirty years old but still not married...
Li Mu wasn’t the type to think people had to get married before 30, but if someone was over 30 and still single, there were probably reasons for it.
Maybe his career was just starting to grow, or maybe it was something personal.
But Yang Ye was a teacher, his career growth didn’t really depend on age that much. In teaching, what matters is experience.
So… could he like men?
This creepy thought suddenly popped into Li Mu’s head.
Could that explain why Yang Ye always treated him so well?
Or maybe ever since Li Mu had started acting more girly, he had accidentally become Yang Ye’s “type”?
Or… what if Yang Ye had already found out that he cross-dressed? But the only time he dressed like a girl in front of Yang Ye was during the auditions last week, and even then, it was from a distance. They didn’t talk or get close. How could Yang Ye have found out?
The more guilty he felt, the more suspicious he became.
“By the way, what’s your sister’s name again?” Yang Ye suddenly turned and asked him.
Wait! Could it be that Yang Ye liked his girl disguise?
His heart skipped a beat. He quickly looked up and said, “Li Yu.”
“That’s not right, is it?” Yang Ye smiled as he looked at him. “I remember your sister’s name was Li Juan.”
Li Mu froze, and only then remembered that when he was eating with Wang Chen the other day, they had talked about it, and the homeroom teacher had been sitting right there.
He had totally forgotten what random name he used back then.
“You heard it wrong,” he said calmly, pretending nothing was wrong.
Yu Fan looked at Li Mu, then at the teacher. He felt like there was something strange going on between the two of them.
“So, is her name Li Yu or Li Juan?”
“Uh... Li Juan?” Li Mu answered, not really sure anymore.
“Make sure she comes next time.”
Li Mu nodded on the outside, calmly sitting down on a chair. But inside, he was starting to panic.
Could it be… the teacher really found out he was cross-dressing?
If he ever showed up again in front of the teacher dressed like a girl...
His thoughts were a complete mess, making him feel even more nervous.
If the teacher found out he was cross-dressing, wouldn’t that totally destroy the image he had in Yang Ye’s mind? What teacher would want to see one of their students turn out to be a guy who likes dressing as a girl?
Should he just admit it and turn himself in?
If he’s honest and shows a good attitude, maybe things won’t get too bad?
But what if Yang Ye was just asking casually?
What if Yang Ye didn’t actually notice the cross-dressing?
A bunch of questions filled Li Mu’s head, making him more and more confused. He really didn’t know what to do next.
"Alright, that's it for today." Yang Ye stretched as he stood up from the piano and smiled at Yu Fan. "You have to try your best at the sports meet on Wednesday, but don’t forget to come here in the evening."
"I know," Yu Fan nodded and asked, "Teacher, will you prepare some snacks for us then?"
Yang Ye wasn’t stingy at all. "We’ll use the class fund. Send me a list tonight, and I’ll buy everything tomorrow. If the money’s not enough, I’ll pay for the rest myself."
Then, he looked at Li Mu and said, "You’re not joining the sports meet, right? I remember last year you ran the 100-meter race and even placed in the top three. Why aren’t you going this year?"
"Not interested."
By now, Li Mu understood his body condition. If he raced with a bunch of girls, he might still get a top-three spot. But if it was with guys, he’d probably end up last.
While chatting, Li Mu and Yu Fan left the music room one after the other.
Just a moment ago, Li Mu looked calm and cold, but as soon as he stepped out of the room, his face clearly showed worry.
He glanced at Yu Fan but didn’t say anything right away.
Yu Fan rarely saw Li Mu show emotions like this when he was dressed as a guy, so he spoke first. “I think the teacher might’ve found out.”
“Yeah.”
Yu Fan scratched his head and tried to comfort him. “It’s fine. Want me to go explain it to him? It might be better if I talk to him instead of you.”
He knew that Li Mu was shy.
“You...” Li Mu felt a bit tempted, but he was also afraid Yu Fan would mess things up.
“So… should I go talk to him?”
“Next time. I’ll think about it tomorrow,” Li Mu sighed.
Honestly, all of this started because of Yu Fan.
If Yu Fan hadn’t convinced him to dress like a girl to help finish Lin Xi’s final wish, he wouldn’t be stuck in this awkward situation now.
If you think about it, this should all be blamed on Lin Xi. Who has such a weird obsession after death? It’s like something out of a crazy drama! Even TV shows don’t go this far!
Now that he had someone else to blame, Li Mu visibly felt better.
When they reached the door of the school’s main building, Yu Fan frowned at the heavy rain outside.
It was only lightly raining after school, but after staying inside for just a short while, it had turned into a huge downpour.
Yu Fan stood at the entrance, clearly unsure what to do.
His electric scooter was small, and riding across most of the city in this kind of storm with strong winds wasn’t safe at all.
Even the rain this morning wasn’t this heavy.
Li Mu glanced at him and offered, “Want to stay at my dorm tonight?”
“Oh?” Yu Fan suddenly smiled and teased, “Why does it sound like you’re asking me to get a hotel room with you?”
Ignoring the joke, Li Mu quietly explained, “There’s an empty bed in my dorm. The guy who sleeps there goes out all night, so no one usually uses it.”
“Okay then. I’ll message him just in case. Or maybe I’ll wait in your dorm until the rain stops.”
Going a night without showering or brushing his teeth wasn’t a big deal to Yu Fan.
The two of them opened their umbrellas and stepped into the heavy rain, walking side by side.
