Chapter 93: Helping Yu Fan Solve His Problems
Writing cheer-up messages was an easy task for Li Mu.
At least there was shade from the trees here, and snacks and drinks nearby. Even though sitting around like this could be a little boring, he actually enjoyed it.
It was definitely better than running around and getting all sweaty.
Besides, he didn’t really have any close friends in the class, so this kind of cheerleading stuff wasn’t really something he felt part of.
Yu Fan had already gone off to watch Xu Ze’s shot put match. That big, chubby guy with a big head and thick neck looked like he’d be good at throwing heavy things.
Two girls from his class were sitting beside Li Mu, writing cheer-up messages while whispering to each other.
Although the girls in his class didn’t look that great, especially compared to the girls from the class next door who knew how to dress up and wear makeup, they were still girls. And since Li Mu hadn’t had much contact with girls since elementary school, sitting next to them made him feel uncomfortable.
His body had become more feminine, so he didn’t feel any desire when he was around girls. But mentally, he still liked girls.
He started wondering again. Would he really turn into a girl someday?
This was a question he had thought about many times already.
Since he didn’t have any examples to compare to, Li Mu had no idea if he’d end up just being a cross-dressing guy, or if he’d completely turn into a girl.
Honestly, changing how you look wasn’t too hard, but could new female organs really grow out of nowhere?
He looked down at his lower stomach, staring for a long time without saying anything.
Would his little buddy slowly shrink and become a little sister? Or would it suddenly stop working and fall off one day?
Either way, it sounded terrifying.
After a few weeks of school life, Li Mu hadn’t said anything out loud, but deep inside, he really wanted his body to go back to normal.
Maybe he should go to his grandpa’s house this weekend.
He had tried calling his grandpa to ask if he knew anything about his parents leaving, but it seemed like his grandpa didn’t know either.
Still, maybe his parents left something behind at Grandpa’s place before they disappeared.
As he was deep in thought, someone suddenly tapped his shoulder.
He looked up and saw it was Wang Ruoyan.
This girl always looked so full of energy, her face glowing with a sweet smile. “Li Mu, can you do me a favor?”
“What?”
“Well… this weekend, could you help me ask Yu Fan out?”
As expected, this girl was interested in Yu Fan.
Actually, most girls who knew Yu Fan seemed to want his body.
To be sure, Li Mu asked, “You like him?”
“Mhm.” Wang Ruoyan nodded without hesitation. “Lots of girls like him! I need to act fast.”
“How come before…” Li Mu started to ask, but then realized, just like Lin Xi, she probably thought Yu Fan already had a girlfriend.
“So, will you help me?” Wang Ruoyan blinked her eyes cutely, trying to act sweet, though her eyes weren’t as pretty as Li Mu’s.
As she asked, she carefully watched Li Mu’s expression, a little nervous.
She had actually noticed Li Mu since the start of the school year. Most of the boys in class were pretty average-looking, just plain faces that didn’t stand out. Only a few looked above average, and Li Mu was one of them.
The only problem was that he always had a cold, distant look on his face that made people afraid to get close.
But now, Li Mu seemed a bit more cheerful than before. Even though he still had that “iceberg” face, the changes in his appearance made him seem more friendly than he used to be.
However, after thinking for a moment, Li Mu shook his head and said, “I can’t help.”
“Huh?”
“Yu Fan stays home all weekend playing games,” Li Mu looked down and held back his jealousy as he explained, “Unless you’re willing to go to an internet café and play games with him, there’s no way to ask him out.”
Without hesitating, Wang Ruoyan nodded and said, “The internet café is fine too, but I don’t understand the games he plays.”
No surprise there. Even Li Mu, who had some experience with League of Legends, had been playing Dota with Yu Fan for weeks and still didn’t fully get it. So a girl who had only played mobile games wouldn’t stand a chance.
After thinking for a moment, he still shook his head. “Forget it, I can’t ask him out.”
“What’s wrong?”
Because I don’t want to see that guy showing off in front of me with a girlfriend.
But of course, he couldn’t say that out loud. So after thinking it over, Li Mu said, “I can’t make things harder for my sister.”
“But your sister isn’t—”
Li Mu quickly added, “They’re going on a date this weekend. I think my sister’s interested in him.”
If Wang Ruoyan had known Li Mu better, she would’ve realized that the more he talked, the more complicated his thoughts probably were.
“Alright then.” Wang Ruoyan walked away looking disappointed.
Not long after, Yu Fan came running over excitedly. As soon as he got close, he shouted, “Guess what! Xu Ze got first place! They’re about to announce it on the school broadcast, hurry up and write a cheer-up message for him!”
“Oh.” Li Mu quietly lowered his head and took out another piece of paper, not daring to look at him.
“Xu Ze is seriously amazing. His shot put throw went way farther than anyone else’s!” Yu Fan flopped down next to Li Mu, crossed his legs, and kept talking. “He just didn’t join in the past two years. Otherwise, he would’ve definitely made it to last year’s city games.”
Yu Fan was truly happy for his friend’s success. Meanwhile, Li Mu was feeling guilty for messing up his chance with a girl.
Li Mu copied a cheer-up message from the internet, made a few changes, and handed it to Yu Fan. But before Yu Fan could leave, he suddenly asked, “Do you like Wang Ruoyan?”
“Nope. Why?”
Well, that’s good then. Just like that, what had felt like messing with Yu Fan suddenly turned into helping him.
Li Mu waved his hand, not saying anything more. Yu Fan looked a bit confused but still grabbed the papers and ran off toward the broadcasting room.
It had rained a few days ago, so even though the weather wasn’t too hot, it still felt kind of stuffy.
Li Mu wrote cheer-up messages for about an hour before getting tired of it. He laid his head on the desk and started playing with his phone like a bored fish.
He was really bored.
And seeing all the other students hanging out in groups, laughing and talking, made him feel even more alone.
Yu Fan had lots of friends and was busy cheering for classmates and teammates, so he didn’t pay much attention to Li Mu. The girls nearby were chatting about their own stuff. Li Mu’s roommates were nowhere to be seen, probably sitting somewhere else on the field, also playing with their phones.
When he felt someone’s eyes on him again, Li Mu finally looked up and glanced behind him.
“I’m just taking a break,” he said, a little annoyed. “Why do you keep coming by to check on me?”
Yang Ye looked away and replied, “If you’re tired, go watch the games for a while. You can come back to write later.”
“I’m fine.” Li Mu paused for a moment, then asked, “Do you still think my sister is just me in disguise?”
Although he often tested people like this, asking it so directly made even Yang Ye a bit embarrassed… If this really was just a misunderstanding, he would look like a complete fool.
After watching Li Mu for a while, Yang Ye felt even more confused.
But even when Li Mu was alone, he never acted like Li Juan.
Still… they looked way too similar. It was hard not to care.
