Chapter 103: Are You Seeing Art... or Something Strange and Reddish in Your Eyes?
A man and a woman alone in one room. And the girl... might not even be wearing a bra. That kind of situation easily stirs up some thoughts.
Lin Yibai was walking in front. Xia Changyu followed behind.
In the past, he would just look at the back of her head, her hair, or maybe her shoulders.
But today, for some reason, his eyes couldn’t move away from her back.
He tried to spot any signs of a bra, like the shoulder straps or something like that.
But, nothing!!
Maybe it was the strapless kind? Or maybe… maybe there’s no “maybe” at all. If she wasn’t wearing one, then she just wasn’t wearing one.
Just thinking about that made Xia Changyu breathe faster. His brain was full of wild thoughts.
As for this “just the two of them alone” thing. To Lin Yibai, it didn’t mean anything serious. Wasn’t it just two guys alone?
She didn’t really see herself as “a girl” in this situation. Being alone with Xia Changyu didn’t feel dangerous at all. After all, both of them were decent and proper people, right?
In her hand, she was still tightly holding that small piece of clothing. The one she had balled up earlier. She quickly opened her bag and stuffed it inside, then mumbled with a bit of regret.
“Ugh, when I hang this up to dry later, it’s probably going to be so wrinkled I won’t be able to wear it.”
But not wearing one wasn’t an option!
If you’re a girl, you’d understand how it feels. It hurts, it’s uncomfortable… and maybe there’s just a tiny bit of weird sensation mixed in, too.
When she turned around, Xia Changyu had already cleared off a table and set out the delicious food he had bought.
Lin Yibai sniffed the air and immediately said, “Mmm, smells amazing. I bet it tastes really good too.”
But now came the real question.
She had only wanted him to take a look at her dancing before the shoot started tomorrow.
But now, with all this… Why did it feel like they were on a date?
She walked over and said, “Why did you buy so much food?”
What else could it be for?
Obviously, he finally got a chance and wanted to go all out to impress her!
Would he succeed tonight?
Trying to play it cool, Xia Changyu defended himself. “Nothing special. Just... dinner. Is that not allowed?”
Lin Yibai counted the dishes on the table, then couldn’t help shaking her head.
Six dishes and one soup? What, was he trying to feed a pig?
Even her family didn’t prepare this much food when they hosted guests during the holidays!
She said, “Crayfish, fried cod nuggets, braised pork knuckle, steamed egg with clams, roasted goose leg, stir-fried greens, black chicken soup... You call this just dinner? Are you trying to fatten me up like a pig?”
Lin Yibai wasn’t happy or flattered by it. She simply thought it was a waste. There was no way the two of them could finish all this. It was just dumb to waste so much food.
Xia Changyu had something to say too! Right now, it was hard for him to argue back. But he still muttered quietly.
“When I was with Gu Xiaoxue, I ordered the same food, and she still said I was stingy. What was I supposed to do?”
“Oh? Now you're acting like you’re the one who’s wronged?”
“I’m just telling the truth.”
“Then don’t compare me to Gu Xiaoxue, okay?”
Lin Yibai walked over to stand next to Xia Changyu. Since she had originally been male, she was 170 cm tall, tall for a girl. But even so, she still had to look up slightly to meet Xia Changyu’s eyes.
She said seriously, “The moment you compare me to her, I’ve already lost.”
Why compare clouds to mud?
Gu Xiaoxue might be beautiful on the outside, but Lin Yibai believes that the current her possesses the kind of qualities that she herself, or other guys, should like.
The two of them were standing very close. Xia Changyu could smell her gentle scent again, and his thoughts began to drift.
Oh right! The perfume he wanted to give her. He forgot it again. But that didn’t matter anymore.
Lin Yibai took a light breath and walked over to the dance room light switch, getting ready to fulfill her promise.
“Food or no food doesn’t matter. A man should always keep his word first.”
As she was thinking that, Xia Changyu’s anxious voice suddenly came from behind. He told her not to touch the switch.
What was he talking about?
Just because he said “don’t press it,” she was supposed to listen?
Did he think Lin Yibai had no pride?
With a small “hmph,” her pale finger pressed the switch.
Then “bang!” there was a loud noise.
Only then did Xia Changyu finally explain. “That lighting equipment was imported. After installing it, we realized the voltage was different. We haven’t set up the transformer yet!”
So… it was too late?
They went to check the fuse box together. Sure enough, the fuse was burned out.
Xia Changyu’s expression dropped right away. He had finally gotten a good chance, and it was already over before it even began?
Lin Yibai looked at him and asked, “Do you really care about this?”
Xia Changyu replied, “We’ll just call an electrician tomorrow to fix the power. I’m not blaming you. The computers in the office are still running, but there’s nothing urgent.”
Lin Yibai asked again, “I didn’t mean the power outage. I mean do you care about the dinner?”
Xia Changyu was caught off guard. Did she see right through what he was thinking?
Well… maybe that couldn’t be helped. When you're in front of the girl you like, it’s hard to hide anything.
Since Xia Changyu didn’t answer, Lin Yibai just smiled without calling him out on it. Instead, she gently took his hand and brought him back to the dance room.
She suddenly pulled open the long curtain by the bed, and soft moonlight instantly shone in, landing right on her body.
“It’s the 16th of the lunar month now. It’s not as bright as yesterday, but it’s still okay, right?”
It had been two weeks and a day since the May holiday. The school was far from the city center, so even in a city full of neon lights, you could still clearly see the beautiful full moon, and her was standing under it.
Lin Yibai raised her hand gently and got into a dancing pose.
“I’ll only perform it once for you. If anything looks off, let me know, so I don’t embarrass myself tomorrow, okay?”
Even now, she was still trying to act tough. Still coming up with excuses just to dance?
But at this point, none of that really mattered.
Xia Changyu was already completely drawn in by her graceful dance.
Because the theme of the performance was about the Jiangnan region, The dance style was soft, gentle, and graceful. And of course, it showed off the dancer’s figure at times.
Lin Yibai leaned her upper body backward. This was just a short part of the dance, called a half-wheel pose. But the way her body stretched tight seemed to accidentally reveal… something.
Xia Changyu swore he had come here with a mindset of appreciating art. Until his eyes were suddenly drawn to two very clear… points. And he couldn’t look away.
Under the moonlight, it was very obvious.
On the thin, soft T-shirt she was wearing, two small shapes became visible.
Hiss...
And then… what dance? What are we even talking about anymore?
Xia Changyu wanted to stay respectful and calm. But somehow, all his attention was stuck on those two points.
When the dance ended, the air conditioning wasn’t working anymore because of the power outage, and Lin Yibai had danced until she was sweating.
Breathing slightly hard, she walked over to Xia Changyu. A sweet scent coming from her body, with every move pulling at his emotions.
Proudly, she asked, “So? I’ve been practicing a long time. What do you think?”
Xia Changyu replied, “It was really good.”
He tried to remember the dance moves. But all he could think about were those two little shapes.
Her scent lingered around his nose.
Warm, a bit damp, and very sweet.
Under the moonlight, the scent and her presence stirred up something wild inside Xia Changyu.
Then, he suddenly felt something… moving?
Oh no!
Xia Changyu’s face changed. He quickly turned his body to the side, bent forward, and tilted his waist back a bit.
He was trying very hard to keep control.
Trying to take back control of… the reaction his body was having.
