Chapter 129: Amusement Park
Yu Fan’s emotional intelligence was all over the place.
Normally, he was thoughtful and caring to his friends, making people think he was warm like a “human heater”, kind and warm to everyone.
But when a girl actually showed interest in him, he suddenly acted like a clueless brick.
When he said that his future girlfriend had to be at least as good-looking as Li Mu, Li Mu started to seriously suspect that this guy actually liked him.

Li Mu sighed like he’d lost all hope and decided to stop overthinking things for now. He just sat down and focused on lunch.
To be honest, the food at ‘Big Harvest’ was really tasty. He concentrated on eating and ignored everything Yu Fan said, secretly hoping the guy would get a clue and start talking more with Wang Ruoyan, the girl sitting across from them.
Look at how good-looking I am!
Girls as pretty as me, or even prettier, aren’t people you can just casually chase after!
Wang Ruoyan liking you is already pretty great!
And you’re still being picky? Seriously?
By the end of the meal, Li Mu didn’t feel like going to the amusement park with them anymore.
“You two go to the amusement park,” he said while watching Wang Ruoyan pay the bill. “I’ve got something to take care of at home.”
Wang Ruoyan looked surprised. She turned around and said, “Huh?”
She had already told Li Mu during lunch that she was ready to give up on Yu Fan, but it seemed like Li Mu was even more anxious than she was. The way he acted made it seem like not dating Yu Fan was some kind of crime.
But the real problem was, Yu Fan didn’t show even the slightest sign that he liked her.
She looked over at Yu Fan again. If Li Mu didn’t go, Yu Fan would probably make an excuse to leave too, right?
Sure enough, when Yu Fan saw that Li Mu wasn’t going, he hesitated and said, “Then... I guess I’ll go home and play games?”
“No way!” Li Mu immediately shut that down. “You already promised Wang Ruoyan you’d go to the amusement park. Be a man and keep your word.”
“You said you’d come too!”
“I’m not a man.”
“......”
Yu Fan looked at Li Mu’s pretty face and, honestly, it was hard to see him as a guy.
Wang Ruoyan thought Li Mu was just making a self-deprecating joke and laughed happily.
Li Mu gave her a quick look, then added, “I’m heading back. You two enjoy your date.”
“This isn’t a date, is it?” Yu Fan rubbed his forehead. He really didn’t understand why Li Mu was trying so hard to set him up with Wang Ruoyan.
Wang Ruoyan gave Yu Fan a shy look and swallowed nervously.
Her heart suddenly felt a spark of hope again.
Maybe once Li Mu left, Yu Fan would start paying more attention to her?
Li Mu also said, “Besides, your electric scooter can’t carry three people. I’ll just go.”
He gave Wang Ruoyan an encouraging glance, walked out of the restaurant, and took the bus home.
He left behind a very confused Yu Fan and a blushing Wang Ruoyan.
Yu Fan let out a deep sigh. If he had a choice, he’d rather be a lazy couch potato playing games at home on a weekend, instead of running around outside.
If Li Mu had stayed, at least he’d have someone to talk to. But now he was stuck with a girl, and they didn’t really have much in common.
“Um... should we go to the amusement park?” Wang Ruoyan asked carefully.
“Alright, sure.” Yu Fan scratched his head. “That Li Mu... seriously. I don’t even know what to say. We agreed to go together, and then he just left.”
“Maybe he just wanted to mooch a free meal off you?”
Wang Ruoyan said quietly, “He’s already gone. Can we not talk about him anymore...?”
Ugh, so jealous.
Yu Fan shrugged, rubbed the goosebumps that had risen on his arms from the cold, swung his leg over the electric scooter, and handed Wang Ruoyan the pink helmet.
“Here, put it on. Sit tight.”
“Pink?”
“Yeah.”
Wang Ruoyan happily put on the helmet, climbed onto the back seat of the scooter, and immediately wrapped her arms around Yu Fan’s waist.
She took a deep breath, feeling like she could even smell Yu Fan’s scent through the helmet, it made her heart beat faster. That excited her even more, and she completely forgot what she had said earlier to Li Mu.
“Are you sitting steady?”
“Yeah!”
Yu Fan turned the handlebars and slowly drove the scooter out of the parking lot.
Going out with a girl was really kind of a hassle, you always had to take extra care of them. It was simpler going out with guys.
They weren't pleasing to the eye, and they swore all the time. Sometimes you’d even get pranked if you were unlucky, but at least things were straightforward.
That’s why Li Mu was the best choice to hang out with.
He wasn’t too picky or delicate, didn’t need to be treated specially, and on top of that, he was pretty.
Yu Fan was driving at a very slow speed, so getting to the amusement park on the edge of town would take more than half an hour.
They didn’t say anything along the way, and honestly, he didn’t know what to talk about with Wang Ruoyan.
“Um…” Wang Ruoyan finally spoke, “Do you like anyone right now?”
“No.”
“What about Li Mu?”
“He’s just a friend.”
“But Li Mu isn’t here right now. Even if you said something, he wouldn’t know.”
Yu Fan replied calmly, “He’s a guy, and so am I.”
“So… if he were a girl…?”
“I never said that. Don’t go making stuff up.”
Wang Ruoyan nodded thoughtfully. “Li Mu said he likes you.”
The scooter suddenly stopped as Yu Fan slammed on the brakes. He turned his head and looked at her.
“Are you serious?”
He stared at Wang Ruoyan’s face, which had changed from excited and red to pale and weak, and paused for a moment.
Then he quickly looked away, trying to hide how awkward he felt, and mumbled, “Damn! The way you reacted, I can tell you’re lying. You scared me!”
He tried hard to play it cool. “He’s a guy too. How could he like me? I nearly crashed just now because of that joke. Don’t say weird stuff like that again.”
Judging by his reaction... She really lost to a guy.
Wang Ruoyan looked like she was about to cry. It suddenly felt like life had no more hope. Before, she was only guessing. But now... it really hurt.
She sighed. And before Yu Fan could start the scooter again, she got off, handed the helmet back to him, and said, “Forget it. I don’t want to go to the amusement park anymore.”
“Then where do you want to go?”
“Suddenly, I just don’t feel like going anywhere.”
Yu Fan stayed quiet for a moment. He noticed something was wrong with her mood and gently asked, “Want me to take you home?”
Wang Ruoyan shook her head and looked down, playing with her fingers.
“No need. My house is pretty close from here.”
“Alright, if you say so.”
“Um... don’t be so nice to everyone,” she took off the jacket and gave it back to Yu Fan, then complained quietly, “You always make people think you like them…”
“......”
“And Li Mu is probably going to get jealous too, right?”
“There’s really nothing between me and him…”
Yu Fan was cut off by Wang Ruoyan’s sigh. “I’m going home.”
Yu Fan scratched his head, feeling confused. Everything that happened today just felt strange.

At that moment, at the amusement park on the edge of the city, Li Mu had his hoodie pulled up and was buying a ticket to get in.
He was thinking, what if Yu Fan only acted distant because he was there, and Yu Fan was actually shy around Wang Ruoyan?
So he came here secretly, hoping to watch them from afar to see how they acted when he wasn’t around.
But after walking all over the big amusement park several times, he still couldn’t find Yu Fan or Wang Ruoyan anywhere.
“Hmm, something's not right. Did Wang Ruoyan successfully confess her feelings and that's why she's not coming?”
