Chapter 140: Winter Clothing Festival
In the evening, Li Mu and Yu Fan came to the music classroom again.
Even though Li Mu had tried his best to avoid interacting with Yu Fan, he realized there was no way to escape.
At least it's unavoidable in this school.
It’s fine. Once the spring entrance exams are over, they’ll be completely separated.
Just like before, Yang Ye was in the music classroom eating snacks from a street stall outside the school. When he saw the two of them enter one after the other, his expression looked a bit strange.
He still couldn’t fully accept that Li Mu was a girl.
But Li Mu’s family had already passed away, and over the years, no one had been able to contact any of Li Mu’s other relatives. So even if someone wanted to confirm it, there was no way to do that now.
“Homeroom teacher, how about we take a break today?” Yu Fan found a chair and sat down, yawning. “I didn’t sleep well the past few days.”
Yang Ye then looked at Li Mu, who also looked tired.
Why do I feel like you two are in a relationship or something?
“What were you doing over the weekend instead of sleeping?”
“Stayed up all night playing games.”
For guys, that excuse works for almost everything.
“Play less, study is more important,” Yang Ye said. Seeing how both of them looked tired, he just started chatting. “So, what colleges do you plan to apply to?”
“I’ll just follow Li Mu, wherever he goes, I’ll go too.” Yu Fan smiled at Li Mu.
But Li Mu didn’t give him any face, turning his head to the side. “I’ll go anywhere except where Yu Fan goes.”
“What? You two fighting now?” Yang Ye laughed and crossed his legs. The more he looked at them, the more he thought they looked like a couple.
Before, he thought Li Mu was a boy, and Yu Fan’s type was kind of odd. But now that he knew Li Mu was actually a girl, he kind of admired Yu Fan’s vision.
How did this guy figure out Li Mu was a girl before anyone else?
He mumbled this to himself while glancing again at Li Mu, whose cheeks were slightly red. He didn’t know why, but today, whether in the office or during class, every time he saw Li Mu, she always had a bit of a blush on her face.
“Well, since both of you aren’t in the mood for class today, let’s go.” Yang Ye finished eating and stood up. “It just so happens, it’s the Winter Clothing Festival today. There’s an event during evening study time. Go help out in the classroom.”
“Huh?” Yu Fan was confused. He hadn’t heard anything about an event.
Yang Ye gave his head a little tap, a hint of amusement in his tone. “You two are always asking for leave, of course you didn’t know.”
“What’s so great about this weird holiday?”
“It’s a traditional festival. Plus, it gives you something fun to do outside of studying. Better than celebrating a foreign holiday like Halloween, right?”
When the three of them walked from the music classroom in the main building to their class, they saw that the room was already almost fully decorated.
The chalkboard had a simple Winter Clothing Festival poster drawn on it. Wang Ruoyan was holding a piece of chalk, putting the final touches on it.
Other students were either setting up the prizes or painting strange designs on their faces.
There weren’t many girls in class, but a few of them knew how to use makeup. They had all brought their cosmetics to share, or just used painting materials instead.
“What is all this?” Li Mu and Yu Fan both looked at Yang Ye.
“It’s a ghost-tag game. Those few students were voted to be the ghosts, and the rest are the humans,” Yang Ye said, folding his arms proudly. “There’s an old unused school building. You’ll all go hide there first. Five minutes later, I’ll send the ghosts in.”
“The game lasts twenty minutes. The person who hides until the end and the ghosts who catch everyone both get prizes.”
“Isn’t this just hide-and-seek?” Yu Fan said with a shrug.
Yang Ye nodded. “Yep.”
But since there were prizes, even though it was basically just hide-and-seek, the students were actually pretty excited.
Li Mu looked around the classroom. Almost all the girls and more than half the class were chatting about tonight’s event, and everyone seemed pretty hyped about it.
He kind of regretted not bringing Xiao Jing’s body with him. If he had, Xiao Jing could have joined in the game too, which would’ve made things more fun.
Of course, for the other classmates, it probably wouldn’t have added any fun at all.
Yu Fan wasn’t really interested. He walked over to Wang Ruoyan, picked up some chalk, and casually helped draw on the board.
Meanwhile, Li Mu leaned lazily against the railing in the hallway and played on his phone.
For the two of them, as long as the "ghosts" weren’t real ones that could actually hurt them, there was really nothing to be afraid of.
“Hey, Li Mu.”
Wang Ruoyan wasn’t as good at drawing as Yu Fan. Since her job had been taken over, she walked over to Li Mu to chat instead.
“So… what’s going on between you and Yu Fan now?”
Thinking about what happened over the weekend still made Wang Ruoyan a bit upset. She had made a deal, in exchange for her notes, Li Mu would help her set up a date with Yu Fan and play the role of a wingman.
Everything seemed fine at first, but in the end, all that happened was that she helped confirm Yu Fan’s feelings for Li Mu. So, the final result was, Li Mu got the notes, got a boyfriend, and even got a free meal out of her.
A classic win-win-win, just not for her.
Still, she wasn’t really mad. Honestly speaking, she couldn’t compare to a guy in so many ways. So losing a guy to another guy wasn’t that surprising… right?
She looked at Li Mu’s cold expression, then glanced at Yu Fan, who was drawing on the blackboard. Somehow, the more she looked, the more she felt like they actually looked good together.
They looked so compatible, she even felt the urge to write a boys’ love story about them.
“No progress,” Li Mu answered coldly.
“How could that be? Yu Fan already said he likes you!” Wang Ruoyan looked surprised.
“I’m not interested in him.” Li Mu glanced at her, then after a moment of thought, asked, “Do you want me to help you ask Yu Fan out again this weekend?”
If Yu Fan could fall for Wang Ruoyan instead, things would be much easier for him. He wouldn’t have to feel so troubled anymore.
Wang Ruoyan was silent for a moment. “Forget it.”
“You know I’m a guy…” he sighed. “Just because Yu Fan’s gay doesn’t mean I am too.”
But to Li Mu’s shock, Wang Ruoyan suddenly looked excited. “But don’t you think it’s great?”
“???”
“True love is between the same gender!”
Where did this fujoshi come from?!
“And the idea of a tsundere guy getting turned gay… that’s such an exciting story arc!”
Li Mu stared at her in silence. For a long time, he didn’t know what to say.
I’m not the bottom! Not the bottom!
Even if I were in a relationship with a guy, I’d definitely be the top!
So he turned and walked away. “I’m going to the cafeteria to eat.”
Just then, Yu Fan turned around and saw him leaving. He quickly put down the chalk and ran after him like a happy puppy.
“Li Mu, where are you going? I’ll come too!”
Li Mu felt like Yu Fan had become his little shadow. No matter where he went, Yu Fan would always follow. It was giving him a headache.
“Can you not keep following me around?”
“Okay.”
But the way Yu Fan agreed so quickly made him feel something was off. He stopped walking and looked back at him.
“You already forgot? I said I’m staying in your dorm now.”
Li Mu froze.
“I brought all my clothes for changing. I already talked to Yang Ye, he said it’s fine for me to move in,” Yu Fan said with a shy smile. “From now on, we’re roommates.”
“Wait, then where are you sleeping?”
“Liu Menglong stays up all night playing games anyway. I gave him my old place to use and told him he doesn’t have to pay rent for the first month.”
“.....”
