Chapter 163: Li Mu
Later that day, Li Mu returned home.
Xiao Jing had already been brought home that morning by Uncle Chen Yi. When Li Mu opened the door, she saw the girl sitting on the couch, using a makeup pencil to draw on her face until she looked like a ghost.
Well, she was a ghost anyway.
"Sister!"
Hearing the door open, Xiao Jing jumped up and ran over happily. She looked up and asked, "Do I look good?"
It was clear that Xiao Jing was trying to use makeup to make herself look more mature. But even if she walked outside without using any scary ghost powers, just her face alone would probably be enough to frighten people.
"Go wash it off. I’ll help you with it later."
"Okay!"
Xiao Jing turned to head to the bathroom but suddenly stopped. Her face turned serious as she stared at the ghostly figure behind Li Mu.
"Who’s that?"
"Liu Shenglong. A ghost I picked up at school." Li Mu stepped aside so Xiao Jing could see him clearly.
Under her sharp gaze, Liu Shenglong scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Little sister, I just need a place to stay for a couple of days."
Leaving a ghost like him at school wasn’t safe. He might get taken over by strong emotions and do something dangerous. But letting Yu Fan take him home wasn’t a good idea either, since Yu Fan still lived with his dad and brother. So Li Mu’s home was the best choice.
However...
"Get out! This is my home!"
Xiao Jing shouted with her teeth bared and hair standing up like a wild cat, looking super fierce as she tried to kick Liu Shenglong out.
He jumped back in surprise and stepped outside, but then Xiao Jing tripped over the doorstep and fell flat on the floor.
Her head even rolled forward a couple of times before stopping. She glared at Liu Shenglong and shouted, "Get lost! Get lost! You’re not allowed in!"
"!!!"
Liu Shenglong was completely shocked. He stared at Xiao Jing’s headless body, not knowing what to say.
"She’s a ghost too."
Li Mu walked out, picked up the head, helped Xiao Jing up, and pressed the head back onto her neck.
She sighed helplessly. "Should I get something to help hold it in place?"
"Hmph!" Xiao Jing turned her head away and mumbled, "Even if Yu Fan is poor, you shouldn’t be like this, sister."
"He’s your boyfriend, after all. How can you bring another guy home?"
"And this guy’s not even handsome!"
"You want a beating?" Li Mu knocked her on the head, then turned to Liu Shenglong. "Come in, but you can only stay in the living room."
Liu Shenglong nodded nervously. "Okay."
Even though becoming a ghost had already shattered his view of the world, meeting Xiao Jing was still hard for him to handle.
So… is she a zombie? A walking dead kind of ghost?
Xiao Jing was still annoyed at Liu Shenglong, but when she saw Li Mu’s warning look, she gave in.
"Sister must be on her period or something, so mean..." she muttered, gave Liu Shenglong one last glare, then stormed off into her room and shut the door.
Li Mu watched her leave, shook her head, and sighed. Then she said to Liu Shenglong, "Stay quiet. Don’t wander around."
"If you do, I’ll let Xiao Jing deal with you."
The ghost quickly nodded in fear.
Since Liu Shenglong was being obedient, Li Mu didn’t say much more. She just glanced down at her own body, then walked into the bathroom.
Time to change her pad again.
What a pain.
Li Mu had once wondered what life would be like if she became a woman. She never thought the first trouble she'd face would be the dull pain in her lower stomach and having to keep changing her pad all the time.
She walked into the bathroom, pulled down her pants, and her eyes went wide with shock.
"It leaked out..."
The loose-fitting boxer didn’t hold the pad in place properly, so the blood leaked through.
She sat there silently for a moment, then pulled out her phone and ordered some women's underwear with fast local delivery. After that, she called out.
"Xiao Jing! Bring me a pair of underwear and pants!"
In the living room, Liu Shenglong looked toward the bathroom when he heard the voice, but was immediately scared by a water bottle that came flying at him.
"What are you looking at?! Look again and I’ll dig your eyes out!"
He crouched down in the corner, trembling. He felt like his life as a ghost was just full of misery.
Xiao Jing gave a proud little snort before going to the closet, grabbing Li Mu’s pants, and running to the bathroom door. She opened it just a crack and passed the clothes through.
"Sister, did you pee your pants?"
"......"
"Where’s Yu Fan? Why didn’t he come with you this time?"
"He has a home too, you know."
Inside the bathroom, Li Mu took the pants and explained, "He hasn’t been home on weekends for a while, so he had to go back this time."
"So you picked this time on purpose to bring another man back?"
Li Mu couldn’t understand where Xiao Jing’s strong sense of territory came from. It was like she was some kind of wild animal that wanted to chase away any strangers.
If Yu Fan hadn’t been handsome and won her favor, he probably would’ve been kicked out too.
This time, Li Mu handled the pad much more smoothly. Just a few minutes later, she came out of the bathroom.
But Xiao Jing peeked at her and said in surprise.
"Sister! Are you really on your period?!"
"Yeah."
"You’re really a big sister now, huh? No wonder you didn’t argue with me today!" She looked up happily. "Does that mean I’m gonna have a little niece soon?!"
"......"
"So Yu Fan is really going to be my brother-in-law? Sister, when that happens, don’t forget to put a mirror by the bed!"
This girl… is her head full of nothing but naughty thoughts?
Li Mu used to think Xiao Jing was pure and innocent. After all, she had died when she was only about ten years old. Even as a ghost, she hadn’t been exposed to much weird stuff from the outside world. Plus, being the “little sister” type just gave off a naturally sweet and innocent vibe…
So how did she end up like this?
Li Mu just couldn’t figure it out.
Even though there was now another ghost in the living room, Li Mu didn’t feel too uncomfortable. She just wore thicker clothes than usual.
She went into the kitchen and boiled a kettle of water. Then she looked toward the corner of the living room and asked Liu Shenglong.
"How’ve you been feeling these past few days?"
"Huh?"
Liu Shenglong had been trying to stay as quiet as possible, but he didn’t expect her to talk to him directly.
He thought for a moment, then said, "I feel like... I really want to do something."
"Hmm?"
"It’s kind of like... it’s the last day of summer vacation, and I still haven’t started my homework."
"Sounds like you’re being affected by your obsession."
Li Mu held the warm cup in both hands, leaning back against the table. She gently blew on the water from time to time. After a moment, she asked again. "What’s your obsession?"
"I want... to find my mom..."
"Yu Fan also said your obsession was wanting to be a girl."
“I never said that, that was Yu Fan.”
Even though he was a ghost, Liu Shenglong’s face turned red.
If he were still alive, he wouldn’t have been this shy. He’d probably even try to flirt with Li Mu. But now that he was a ghost, he was extra careful and polite.
After blowing on the water for a while, Li Mu finally took a small sip. Then she turned her head and looked out the window at the night sky.
She wondered what Yu Fan was doing right now.
