Chapter 28: Just Going to the Bathroom
The teacher's question was literally just the definition he had explained moments earlier. Basically, all he wanted was for someone to repeat it.
But even such a simple question was too much for Lin Wenbin, who clearly hadn’t been paying attention.
Even though Lin Muqing wanted to help and tried whispering hints, he couldn’t answer because he didn’t hear her clearly.
As expected, he ended up standing for a while as punishment before finally being allowed to sit back down.
Class continued.
Lin Muqing didn’t pay much attention to Lin Wenbin for the rest of the lesson, or rather she didn’t look at him at all.
After all, being called out and made to stand wasn’t anything new for him. It had happened more than once or twice.
“Where are you going?”
During break time, Ye Ziming noticed Lin Muqing standing up and instinctively asked.
“Umm… going to get water and… to the bathroom.”
When she saw the look in his eyes, she immediately explained what she was going to do, lifting her water bottle slightly as she spoke.
“Want me to fill yours too, Boss?”
She remembered that she had pretty much finished his water earlier, so she reached out and offered.
“No need. I’ll come with you.”
When he heard the words ‘bathroom’, Ye Ziming’s eyes narrowed a little. He couldn’t help but think back to that moment earlier at home.
Right now, Ye Ziming was feeling very unsure about Lin Muqing.
And just the thought of her going into the boys’ bathroom by herself made him feel weird and uneasy. But if he went with her, somehow that weird feeling disappeared.
So he picked up his own water bottle, stood up, gave her a glance, and walked toward the door.
“Umm…”
Lin Muqing hesitated a bit but didn’t say anything else. She knew once her buddy decided on something, no one could stop him.
She figured she might as well hurry up and follow.
If he wasn’t asking any more questions, then maybe he had already forgotten about that thing from earlier.
That meant her secret was still safe.
Whew—thank goodness!
As for going to the bathroom… she was already prepared for that.
There was a small, rarely used bathroom next to the office on this floor. Since it was far away and close to where the strict teachers worked, not many students wanted to use it.
I mean, if you had the choice, would you want to risk running into those scary teachers… while using the bathroom?
It was the perfect plan.
When Lin Muqing arrived at the bathroom door, the hallway was almost completely empty, just her and Ye Ziming.
But even the best plans go sideways sometimes.
For example… now.
She and Ye Ziming were both standing inside the bathroom, staring at the three closed stall doors, and Lin Muqing went totally silent.
“You said you needed to go, right?”
Seeing her just standing there without moving, Ye Ziming’s expression shifted a little as he asked in confusion.
As he spoke, he had already finished his business. At the urinal on the side, as expected for guys.
“Uh? I… I need to do number two.”
She glanced at her best buddy, then at the urinals with dividers on the side… and didn’t know what to do.
The jade pendant only made her look like a boy. It didn’t actually turn her into one.
So when it came to using the bathroom, Lin Muqing could only squat, not stand.
If she tried to stand… well, she’d end up wetting both legs, and her school pants would be ruined.
Don’t ask her how she knows that. She just knows!
“Did you… bring tissue?”
Ye Ziming stared at her for a while, then glanced at her two empty hands. She hadn’t brought her water bottle in, it was still outside.
Actually, that’s not what he really wanted to ask. What he really wanted to say was, ‘Why aren’t you standing like a normal guy?’
But that was too awkward, so he didn’t say it. He wasn’t as blunt as someone like Lin Wenbin, after all.
“Uhh… yeah, I brought some.”
She took a tissue from her pocket and smiled awkwardly at him.
The bathroom fell into silence again. The problem was she only had one sheet of tissue. That was barely enough for number one, let alone number two.
No matter what Lin Muqing said, Ye Ziming didn’t believe anyone would bring that little tissue if they were planning to “go big.”
The two stared at each other in silence. One looked completely relaxed, his business was already done. The other was super tense, her eyes darting everywhere in panic.
The bathroom stalls were still all closed.
“Class is about to start.”
After a while, Ye Ziming glanced at his watch and kindly reminded her, showing her the time.
If they left now, they’d still make it back in time, maybe even before the prep bell rang.
But if they kept waiting… things might not turn out so well.
“Uhh…”
After a brief internal struggle, Lin Muqing looked at the tightly shut stall doors. The awful smell coming from inside hit her nose hard.
In the end, she made a snap decision, ‘Forget it. I’ll just hold it in.’
It’s not like she hadn’t done this before.
“Ahem… Let’s just go, or we’ll be late.”
She coughed to hide her embarrassment, covered her nose, and quickly walked outside after telling her buddy.
“Okay.” Ye Ziming followed her out.
But just before leaving, his eyes lowered slightly, and he dipped his head. No one knew what he was thinking.
For some reason, he had zoned out, in a smelly public bathroom, of all places.
Not long after the two of them left, all three bathroom stall doors opened at the same time.
Out came three teachers, each holding their lower back, groaning a little. The sound of flushing followed.
They looked at each other, paused for a beat, and then—
“You were constipated too?!” ×3
“What a coincidence, me too.” ×3
After the surprise wore off, the three teachers started chatting… about why they were constipated.
They actually looked kind of happy, like they had found comrades in battle. Their laughter echoed out from the bathroom.
Back in class, Lin Muqing was sitting at her desk, trying her best to focus. But it was nearly impossible.
At the time, when she decided to leave the bathroom, it didn’t feel like a big deal. She just gritted her teeth and walked out.
But now… she regretted everything.
Halfway through the lesson, she remembered something important. Girls and boys are built a little differently.
To put it simply, girls are usually worse at holding in pee than boys.
So for the whole class, she sat with her legs tightly pressed together, her face scrunched up in pain. She looked absolutely miserable.
Ye Ziming, sitting beside her, couldn’t bear to watch. He even covered his eyes.
At the same time, he started getting worried.
Halfway through class, he even tried to offer a little help.
