Chapter 170: Liu Shenglong’s Departure
“So, tell us, what’s your real obsession?”
That afternoon, Li Mu curled up on the sofa, watching as Yu Fan questioned Liu Shenglong. Xiao Jing sat cross-legged beside them, clearly interested in the conversation.
Even though Liu Shenglong had mentioned a few “obsessions” before, back then he was just saying whatever under Yu Fan’s pressure, so none of it really counted.
After thinking for a moment, Liu Shenglong answered, “I’m sure of it now! My obsession is finding my birth mother.”
Yu Fan and Li Mu looked at each other, both confused.
“Wait, what do you mean? Did she leave after getting a divorce, or...?”
“I asked my dad. He said when I was a kid, she went out to work and one day just disappeared.”
The ghost looked a bit sad and gave a bitter smile. “I don’t know if something happened to her, or if she had a fight with my dad and just left. It’s been over ten years, and there hasn’t been a single word from her.”
“Did you report it to the police?”
“Yeah, we did. But the police couldn’t find anything.”
Now Yu Fan was really stuck. He gave a helpless laugh. “If even the police couldn’t find her, then there’s no way Li Mu and I can. Even though you’re a ghost and can walk through walls or whatever, you’re still no match for police cameras.”
“There really aren’t any clues... unless you tell us more about your family?”
At this point, Liu Shenglong shook his head. “Actually, there is a clue. Ever since I died, I’ve been able to vaguely sense where she is.”
Li Mu and Yu Fan glanced at each other, surprised.
“I think she’s somewhere in the south.” The ghost pointed off into the distance. “If I get closer, maybe I can find her directly.”
“Just a general direction?” Yu Fan frowned, thought for a moment, and then shook his head. “If you don’t even know how far, that’ll be really hard.”
“I’ve actually tried looking for her at night…” Liu Shenglong lowered his head, looking discouraged. “I don’t think she’s too far away, but just walking isn’t enough.”
At that moment, Xiao Jing jumped in. “Then take a high-speed train! Make it a travel adventure!”
“You talk as if we have a lot of free time.” Yu Fan rolled his eyes. “Also, there are so many people on those trains. If Liu Shenglong got on, the whole train might have to be shut down.”
Then Liu Shenglong spoke up carefully. “What if… for these last few days, I go try on my own?”
“I promise I won’t hurt anyone! You’ve seen how I’ve been this whole time. I’m honest and well-behaved.”
He looked serious. “I’ll only walk along empty roads heading south. I won’t cause any trouble for anyone!”
Yu Fan hesitated and looked at Li Mu. “What do you think?”
Li Mu thought about Liu Shenglong’s behavior recently. When she and Yu Fan had gone to Yingfeng Town and were gone all day, the ghost had just quietly waited at the school field the whole time.
Yeah... he really was well-behaved.
Still a little unsure, she nodded. “I think it’s okay? Or maybe we should ask Uncle Chen Yi?”
“Would he even care about a ghost like this?”
Good point.
“But what if he turns into a vengeful ghost…” Li Mu still seemed a bit worried.
“I don’t think so. Look at the vengeful ghosts we’ve seen so far. They all died horrible deaths. Then look at him.”
Liu Shenglong scratched his head awkwardly. “Dying suddenly isn’t horrible enough?”
“Besides, Uncle Chen Yi said that vengeful ghosts usually have deep hatred in their hearts. Liu Shenglong’s just like a little tadpole looking for his mom, it’s not the same thing.”
Since Yu Fan put it that way, Li Mu relaxed.
“So… you’re really leaving?”
Only now did Xiao Jing realize her “toy” was going away. She paused for a second, then ran into her room.
A moment later, she came back out holding an incense stick.
“Here! I’m giving you a proper send-off!”
Li Mu tapped her on the head. “Don’t mess around.”
Then she turned to Yu Fan and asked, “Does incense even work on ghosts?”
“Of course not.” Yu Fan replied with a laugh. “And besides, incense is for ancestors or gods, right?”
"Really?" Xiao Jing looked confused as she held the incense stick and went back inside.
Liu Shenglong didn’t say much either. He just waved goodbye to Li Mu and Yu Fan, then suddenly sank into the floor and slowly disappeared.
Li Mu thought to herself that this way of “going downstairs” was worse than just taking the elevator.
Once the ghost left, the cold air in the room was completely gone. Li Mu immediately felt hot, so she quickly took off her jacket and the thick sweater she was wearing underneath.
This was one bad thing about having a ghost at home. The temperature kept changing so much, it was easy to catch a cold.
"Huh? Where’s the ghost?" Xiao Jing asked.
"He left," Yu Fan said while stretching and yawning. "Li Mu, got any plans this afternoon?"
"Not sure. I’m going out to pick up a package first."
She saw a text message on her phone and quickly stood up to head out.
Yu Fan followed her and asked with a grin, "What kind of package is so important?"
It was… a package of women’s underwear.
Back on Friday, Li Mu had ordered a dozen pairs of panties online from a local shop. They had finally arrived.
Only she knew how awkward it felt using sanitary pads with men’s boxers.
They leaked easily!
And they basically didn’t help at all!
She’d already had to wash several pairs of pants...
Yu Fan happily followed Li Mu as they took the elevator down together.
The delivery guy liked to put packages in the locker boxes nearby, which annoyed Li Mu. She remembered how, back in the old days, they used to deliver things right to your hands, or even straight to your door.
"Hey, how about we go out this afternoon?" Yu Fan walked next to her, hands in his pockets. "Xiao Jing didn’t come along, and with her around... well, it’s hard to do anything fun anyway."
Honestly, Yu Fan had a feeling that Li Mu might like him a little. After all, her mood clearly changed whenever he showed up, those reactions couldn’t be faked.
But he was afraid to confess. What if he was just imagining things?
After all, Li Mu already knew he liked her. So… maybe he should just wait for her to make the first move?
"Sure, I guess. But I need to go home and drop off my package first."
"Alright."
Once they got the package and returned home, Li Mu changed into her new underwear and felt like she was really turning into a girl.
In the bathroom, she turned to look at her backside.
The panties felt kind of tight…
Was it because her butt was big? Didn’t seem that big though?
It felt a little hard to get used to, kind of like how it felt the first time she wore a bra. It made her feel super embarrassed, and her face turned red.
Her mind hadn’t fully adjusted to being a girl yet, so wearing girly clothes still made her feel like a boy wearing girl’s clothes, even though she was already a girl now.
"I’ll have to slowly get used to it." She muttered to herself.
But at least the pad stuck better now, shouldn’t leak anymore.
When she came out of the bathroom, she saw Yu Fan trying to sweet-talk Xiao Jing into staying home and watching TV. Xiao Jing looked upset, like she was about to cry.
"You two are going on a date and leaving me behind! You’re not even coming back tonight, are you?"
"No, we’re just going out for a walk. We’ll bring you back some McDonald's, okay?"
"You just don’t want me tagging along!"
"No way! We love having you around, right?"
Yu Fan tried his best to talk her into staying. Then, when he saw Li Mu come out, he asked, "What took you so long in the bathroom?"
"My sister was changing her pad! Brother Yu Fan, are you that clueless?"
Li Mu glared at Xiao Jing.
Just because of that one sentence, there was no way she was taking Xiao Jing outside.
If she said something like that in public, Li Mu would die of embarrassment!
