Chapter 172: Girls' Dormitory
"Honestly, now that things have changed for you, you really should move out of the dorm. I even rented an apartment for you, but you just won’t go."
It was Monday. As Li Mu got off the back seat of the electric scooter, she heard Yu Fan speaking with a bit of jealousy in his voice.
She took off her helmet and handed it to Yu Fan, then let out a small sigh. "Isn’t living in the dorm just fine?"
"What’s so good about it?"
Ever since that weekend date, Yu Fan had noticed that Li Mu’s attitude toward him had become a bit distant, like she was unsure of how to act.
Maybe she was scared by his sudden hug?
He locked the scooter and quickly caught up to her, smiling as he asked, "There’s a meeting at noon today, did you get the notice?"
"Meeting?"
"It’s about New Year’s Day, the Top Ten Singers event. The meeting’s just to confirm the order and go over a few reminders."
"But it’s not even December yet..."
"The school leaders care a lot about it."
"Okay."
She didn’t really pay much attention. Whether it was a class meeting or something else, she was always the type to just sit there and zone out.
Before they even got to class, they passed by the office building when someone suddenly called out to Li Mu.
"Li Mu! Come here a second."
She turned to look and saw Yang Ye standing in the hallway. She walked over with Yu Fan beside her.
"Your ID, household registration, and student record have all been updated."
"Okay, thank you."
Yang Ye looked at the two of them and joked with a smile, "You two look even more like a perfect match now. So, when do I get to drink at your wedding?"
"......"
At first, when he noticed these two students might be in a relationship, Yang Ye had wondered if he should step in. After all, they were both boys back then.
Later he figured maybe they were just really close friends, so he just teased them now and then.
But now that he knew Li Mu was actually a girl, he had nothing but good wishes for them.
"If there’s nothing else, I’ll head to class."
Seeing that Li Mu didn’t respond to Yang Ye’s teasing, Yu Fan felt a little disappointed.
"Oh, right. A bed has been arranged for you in the girls’ dorm. You’ll start sleeping there tonight."
"Huh?"
Li Mu was completely stunned.
Yu Fan was overjoyed, though he couldn’t help but complain, "Come on, teacher, why are you only doing this now?"
"I just didn’t think of it at first. My bad." Yang Ye scratched his head, admitting it was his mistake.
"Can I not move?"
Li Mu asked hopefully.
"Of course not. One girl and five guys living in one room? Even if you’re not worried, I am."
Seeing her unwilling expression, Yang Ye turned and started walking toward the dorms.
"There’s still about ten minutes before class. Yu Fan and I will help you move. If we’re lucky, we might catch one of your new roommates still in bed. That way, you can meet and get to know them a bit."
"Exactly, let’s go."
Li Mu let out a soft sigh and, forcing herself, followed the two of them towards the boys' dormitory building to take her stuff.
She had never seriously considered living in the girls’ dorm. After all, it had only been a few days since she fully became a girl. She couldn’t imagine living with a bunch of other girls.
It honestly felt kind of scary.
People said girls’ dorms were messy, smelly, and full of drama.
And more importantly, moving into the girls’ dorm?!
Wouldn’t that mean everyone in class would find out she had turned into a girl?
She had planned to keep it a secret until graduation. There were only a few months left anyway!
Since she had already taken most of her things home before, this time she only packed one big suitcase and a plastic bucket.
"Are my roommates classmates?"
She asked Yang Ye nervously.
"Yeah, it’s the same girls who already live in the dorm, Wang Ruoyan and the others. There aren’t many girls in our class to begin with, so even after putting them all in one room, there were still three extra beds."
The school didn’t have strict rules about living in the dorms. Rooms were assigned by class, and any extra beds weren’t filled with students from other classes.
"I see..."
Li Mu immediately felt more worried.
If she had to live with girls from other classes, maybe she could still keep her gender a secret in her own class.
But now... that seemed impossible.
Yu Fan noticed her anxiety and smiled, trying to comfort her.
"Don’t worry. There are only a few months left until graduation. Just focus on your studies, time will pass before you know it."
"I know."
The layout of the boys’ and girls’ dorms was basically the same. Since class was about to start, lots of girls were running out of the dorms. The three of them made it to Room 203 without anyone stopping them.
Yang Ye was about to knock on the door when they suddenly heard a bunch of noisy voices from inside.
"Ruoyan, hurry up! We’re gonna be late! You’re always the slowest one!"
The door opened a moment later. The girl who opened it saw the three people standing outside and froze. Then she blinked in confusion.
"What’s going on?"
"Remember I mentioned your new roommate over the weekend? She’s moving in now," Yang Ye said, patting Li Mu on the shoulder.
The girl looked even more confused. "Wait, isn’t this Li Mu? Yu Fan, why are you here too?"
Li Mu looked at her closely for a moment, then finally remembered, her name was Lin Yuanyuan. Her face really was quite round.
"I’m just helping," Yu Fan replied with his usual bright smile, showing his white teeth.
Li Mu gave him a sideways look and squinted slightly, clearly annoyed.
"So Li Mu is actually a girl?" Lin Yuanyuan mumbled.
"Who is it?"
They heard Wang Ruoyan’s voice from inside. She had just put on her shoes and peeked out the door.
"Teacher? Li Mu? Yu Fan?! You guys..."
"She’s moving into our dorm," Lin Yuanyuan explained.
"Moving into our dorm?" Wang Ruoyan was stunned.
She looked at the suitcase Yu Fan was holding and suddenly covered her mouth in shock. "Wait! Yu Fan, you’re the girl?!"
What kind of logic was that?
Yu Fan didn’t bother replying. It was clear she was just joking.
"Alright, no more chatting. Put the stuff inside first and get to class. Li Mu can unpack at lunchtime," Yang Ye said, thinking that if he didn’t stop them now, they’d probably chat all the way till noon.
By the time they left the girls’ dorm building, the group had grown to five people.
"Who’s the other roommate?" Li Mu was still a bit curious.
"Chen Li. She went to class early," Wang Ruoyan answered.
Li Mu knew the name well.
Chen Li had been her classmate for the past two years. She always ranked in the top three in exams and had even won awards for her writing.
She was also quite pretty, just a bit less than Wang Ruoyan. Basically the second prettiest girl in the class, if Li Mu isn't included...
She could feel the curious looks her two new roommates were giving her, but she forced herself to stay calm and keep the cool, distant expression she usually wore. Even though she was panicking inside.
But just before they reached the classroom door, she couldn’t help but speak up.
"Can you not tell the others?"
The class bell had already rung, but the group still stopped walking.
Wang Ruoyan curled her lip and said, "I haven't even settled the score with you yet, and you're already making demands."
"Settle the score? What do you mean?"
"I really thought I wasn’t even as good as a guy... I almost lost all my confidence!"
Was it really that bad?
Li Mu felt a little guilty, but then heard Lin Yuanyuan laugh from the side.
"She’s just joking. It’s not a big deal. Don’t worry, we can keep a secret!"
