Chapter 179: Yu Fan, Who’s Hiding a Secret
“Get up, get up.”
The next morning, before class started, Yu Fan had just walked into the classroom when he happily rushed over. He pulled on Wu Lei’s arm while asking Li Mu.
“I heard someone confessed to you yesterday?”
Wu Lei got pulled up but wasn’t annoyed. Instead, he joined in.
“I was standing nearby when it happened. Li Mu totally lost it. If Chen Li hadn’t stopped him, he would’ve kicked Xie Bin.”
“Xie Bin?”
Yu Fan turned to glance at Xie Bin, who was sitting in the corner of the classroom.
That classmate usually didn’t draw much attention. He was one of those rich kids who was a bit too confident and didn’t have much emotional intelligence. He often acted like he was better than others, so even Yu Fan didn’t talk to him much.
Yu Fan sat down next to Li Mu and saw that she was keeping a straight face, reading her book with her head down, completely ignoring him.
Still, Yu Fan felt a little better inside, so he playfully teased her.
“So, how did it feel to be confessed to?”
“Didn’t feel anything.”
There weren’t many students in the classroom yet. Wu Lei had gone off to chat with his other friends, and Li Mu looked around to make sure no one was close enough to hear their conversation.
She sighed quietly and spoke with a hint of frustration.
“Why did it have to be a guy who confessed to me?”
Yu Fan’s body stiffened, but he kept smiling and asked carefully.
“Why? Doesn’t that mean you’re attractive?”
“If a girl confessed to me, I’d be flattered. But a guy? It just makes me feel gross.”
She mumbled while resting her chin in one hand and looking out the window.
“R-Really?”
Yu Fan was a little stunned and asked in a soft voice.
“Yeah.” Li Mu added, annoyed. “And you know I hate being the center of attention.”
“Ugh…” Yu Fan’s smile turned even more awkward, like he'd almost screwed up an important thing.
“I checked the school forum this morning. I’m trending again. And I even saw myself on TikTok.”
As she spoke, her tone became more and more angry. She took out her phone, opened TikTok, and handed it to Yu Fan.
These days, people love recording everything, videos or photos, no matter what’s going on. So even a small incident ends up being spread all over the school.
And when Li Mu had woken up and was scrolling through local videos on TikTok, she saw a video of herself.
Yu Fan looked down at the phone. The title of the video was: [Witnessed a public confession get rejected! So awkward! #CampusConfession]
Then he looked at the number of likes, only a few hundred, but there were over a hundred comments.
He carefully watched the short video. It had been filmed from a girls’ dorm balcony, looking down. Since it was dark, Li Mu’s face wasn’t really visible.
But you could clearly see her throwing her cookie, rolling up her sleeves, and trying to start a fight before being pulled away by Chen Li.
“Pfft!” Yu Fan couldn’t help but laugh.
“What are you laughing at?”
Li Mu snatched the phone back, clearly annoyed. “Go ahead and laugh! If Xiao Jing hadn’t taken control of my body all of a sudden, it wouldn’t have gotten so out of hand.”
“I’m definitely going to teach her a lesson!”
Yu Fan quickly put on a serious face and said firmly. “Next weekend, I’ll hold her down, and you can hit her with a broom!”
“......”
Li Mu laid her head on the desk, speechless.
“Forget it. She won’t feel pain anyway.”
Even though Xiao Jing can feel things through touch, she doesn’t seem to feel pain very much. Otherwise, she wouldn’t keep twisting her own head just for fun.
Li Mu had planned to keep a low profile at school for the next few months, but now things had gotten out of hand.
When she walked from the dorm to the classroom in the morning, she heard a lot of students talking about the confession last night. Even though it was dark and most people didn’t know what she looked like, her name was already well-known.
“It’s okay,” Yu Fan said as he typed quickly on his phone. “No matter how big the drama is at school, once the spring exams are over, no one will remember your name. At most, people will just remember someone confessed and almost got beaten up.”
“I hope so,” Li Mu replied sadly. She wasn’t in the mood to read anymore.
She leaned on the desk and looked at Yu Fan, but he was looking down at his phone and didn’t even glance at her.
“Who are you chatting with?”
“No one,” Yu Fan quickly said and stuffed his phone into his pocket. “Have you eaten breakfast? I can go to the shop and get something for you.”
“Sure.”
She was too tired to care that Yu Fan wasn’t really paying attention to her during their conversation.
Yu Fan hurriedly left. He had gone to great lengths to discuss with the school's teachers and arrange for a few minutes of free time for him during the Top Ten Singers competition so he could confess to Li Mu in front of everyone, but now it seemed he would have to urgently cancel it.
As soon as he left, Wang Ruoyan came over.
Because a few of Li Mu’s roommates still acted very friendly with her, some classmates joked that Li Mu had three girlfriends. Others even thought of her as part of the girls' group now.
“Is Yu Fan jealous?” Wang Ruoyan asked curiously. “Too bad I was showering last night and missed it. I bet it was wild, right?”
“......”
“If Chen Li hadn’t told me, I’d never guess you had a violent side,” Wang Ruoyan said, amazed. Li Mu usually had a cold, calm look that made her seem mature. No one expected that one confession would make her lose her cool.
“Don’t bring it up.”
She waved her hand like she’d given up on life. The image she had built up, the calm and cool "ice prince", was probably ruined after last night.
Suddenly, she remembered how strange Yu Fan was acting before he left. After thinking for a moment, she lowered her voice and asked Wang Ruoyan.
“When Yu Fan was talking to me earlier, he was also chatting with someone on his phone. When I tried to look, he acted all sneaky like he was hiding something.”
“Li Mu, you’re not usually this talkative.”
“Just focus, okay?”
Wang Ruoyan straightened her face and thought seriously for a moment.
“He’s definitely hiding something from you!”
“And he probably didn’t want you to see the chat. Maybe he’s planning to surprise you with a gift and was asking someone for advice?”
Li Mu turned to look at Xu Ze, who sat in the back of the class.
“His best friend is in this class. Why wouldn’t he just talk to him directly?”
“You don’t think… he’s cheating, do you?”
“We’re not even dating. What is there to cheat on?” Li Mu said helplessly.
Wang Ruoyan ignored her and scratched her head, then shook it.
“No, that can’t be it. He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who messes around. If he did, he would’ve had tons of girlfriends already… Unless he’s secretly into doing things in sneaky ways. Hmm.”
“Anyway, I still think Yu Fan wouldn’t do anything bad!” Wang Ruoyan said firmly.
After all that guessing, they still figured out nothing useful.
Li Mu felt like she shouldn’t have asked Wang Ruoyan something so complicated. After hearing all that nonsense, she felt even more confused.
