[Vol. 7] Chapter 238: A Name Never Heard
“After I noticed something strange about him, I started making an effort to stay in contact and observe him more. I asked questions in a roundabout way to see how he would react to certain things, especially after I discovered he had very unique ideas about many academic topics. And when I realized that many of the latest inventions he worked on here in the academy city were clearly inspired by something from another world… it made me even more sure of my growing suspicion.”
Violet calmly revealed the answer as she looked at the princess, who had unknowingly stopped breathing for a moment from the tension.
“So, one day, I decided to be direct. Just like I’m doing with you now, I told him everything I had discovered. With the sudden pressure and clear evidence, he had no choice but to respond to my guess, and he honestly confessed the secret behind it all.”
“He is not someone who was born in this world. He comes from a completely different one. Or at least, he has knowledge and memories from another world. He believes he’s originally from there. That’s why he acts so differently and why the things he creates are so unusual.”
“He is a traveler from another world, Miss Carinvega… and so are you.”
Silence…
In that moment, both of them fell into a strange, shared silence.
Violet, who had just dropped this shocking truth like a bomb, looked calmly and almost playfully at the two-eyed girl in front of her. She didn’t say another word.
Carinvega, who had subconsciously gripped the edge of her clothes tightly, also stayed silent.
It looked a little awkward from the outside, but Violet could easily tell what was really happening, Carinvega was clearly avoiding her gaze. Her eyes were shrinking from mental shock, and her body, seated across from her on the sofa, was trembling slightly without control.
All of these reactions pointed to one thing.
She was scared. She was anxious. She was shaken.
This silent response said more than words ever could.
Heh… just as I thought.
The clever little devil quietly smiled to herself after tricking the girl in front of her once again. Violet had finally confirmed her own theory.
Actually, just like how no one could say for sure if Carinvega was truly smart, Violet’s idea that she might be a "traveler from another world" was still just a guess. One with some clues, but no solid proof.
As for all the things she had just said to Carinvega… well, some parts were true, and some were not.
First of all, the person Violet talked about “him” really does exist.
He’s none other than Ismael, the head of the Resources Department at Sainz Academy, and also the potion master who once taught Violet about potion-making. So yes, Violet really did notice strange signs in his soul using her [Yin-Yang Eyes] and got curious enough to start investigating him. That part was all true.
However, Ismael doesn’t have the same amazing natural gifts as Carinvega. While he does seem to have faint traces of two souls inside him, most of it has already merged into one. His soul is basically whole now, and he doesn’t have any special features like Carinvega’s two different-colored eyes.
Even though both of them were unusual enough to catch Violet’s attention, Carinvega’s mystery and strangeness were far more intense than Ismael’s.
If Carinvega’s soul is like the two sides of a single coin, connected but still clearly separate, then Ismael is more like pouring two drinks into the same glass. Mostly blended, but you can still vaguely tell the two colors apart… something like that.
Violet still didn’t fully understand why their soul conditions were different or what kind of results it might lead to. But so far, she had only seen this “two souls in one body” situation in these two people. Even another known traveler, Minchen, only had one soul inside him.
As for Miss Rebecca, the former Second Throne of Eternal Throne, she had indeed absorbed the soul of the blue dragon Alexia, including many angry, wandering spirits. But even then, her own soul remained in control. That meant she only had one main set of memories and one personality. Her dragon form was more like a transformation, not something that made her the same as Carinvega or Ismael.
So yes, there was definitely something truly special about these two.
As for why Violet suspected they were "travelers from another world," the reason was just like she had said earlier, the feeling of familiarity was way too strong. Carinvega still acted a bit careful about it, but that guy Ismael seemed to think he was the only traveler in the world, so he didn’t even try to hide it.
It wasn’t just the main structure and idea behind the [Magical Guidance Carriage], Ismael also helped create many of the “next-generation” tournament rules and systems in this event.
If something like this happened once or twice, it could be seen as a coincidence. But when this kind of thing keeps popping up, it clearly means something strange is going on. Sometimes, when talking to Ismael, Violet would even hear him casually use words that only exist in another world. It was impossible not to notice.
That said, Violet didn’t actually confront Ismael about being a traveler the way she did with Carinvega. Partly because she didn’t think it was necessary or useful, and partly because after watching him carefully, she discovered some very interesting things.
Violet had met other travelers from the "Earth” before, including Minchen and his group. But Ismael and Carinvega were obviously different from them.
Aside from their soul differences, Violet learned through subtle questions that while Ismael knew a lot about the other world, he showed almost no reaction when she mentioned the word [Illusory World]. It was like he had never even heard of it before. And judging from how he acted, it didn’t seem like he was pretending, he probably really didn’t know anything about it.
Also, Ismael seemed to have no idea about the [Will of the World] or the “system interface” that Minchen once mentioned, which gave out missions and rewards. That’s strange, because the group that crossed into this world 300 years ago had powerful abilities right from the start. Yet this “demon man” Ismael, who’s said to have lived for a long time, hadn’t even reached the legendary-level. That didn’t make sense at all.
Based on Violet’s guess and everything she had learned, Ismael likely only came into this world in the past few years, or at least, the memories from his other world only woke up recently.
Other than having some extra memories and a slightly unusual soul, he seemed no different from a normal person born in this world. He didn’t have any “cheat powers” like Minchen and his team, and definitely didn’t have the strange “external help” Carinvega did. For a traveler, he was honestly… kind of too ordinary.
