Chapter 76: Do You Like to Tease People?
The morning passed quickly, and because of an unexpected situation, the usual flag-raising ceremony was delayed until the long break.
During the ceremony, a school leader suddenly gave a speech about the dangers of teenage dating and said the school would now strictly control it.
“Teenage dating is not acceptable…”
The student council president stood below the flag platform, holding a microphone and passionately speaking for quite a while. After he finished, the dean also came up to speak.
Because of this whole thing, Lin Muqing noticed that fewer people were talking about her now. Most students were now focused on the new dating rule.
But not all attention disappeared. On the school forum, there was still one post that hadn’t been deleted. It was about the rankings for the most attractive male and female students in school.
Lin Muqing didn’t care much about it. Even if she did, there wasn’t much she could do. It would only bring her more stress.
After thinking about it all morning, she decided to just lie flat and stop bothering.
She was just a simple “tough guy.” Things like being ranked as a school beauty had nothing to do with her. Besides, winning didn’t bring any money anyway.
So she thought it was boring and believed the person who made the rankings must have too much free time.
At noon after school, Lin Muqing followed her “good bro” home again. After enjoying a nice lunch, the two of them sat on the sofa to rest.
“Hey, boss.”
While checking her phone, Lin Muqing noticed that some people in their class group chat were talking about the newest "school heartthrob" rankings. Once again, Ye Ziming was at the top.
She perked up immediately, turned her head with a mischievous smile, and softly called out to her buddy.
“Hm?”
Ye Ziming turned to look at her, puzzled by her tone.
“Hehe~ I want to interview you.”
She held her phone like a microphone and pushed it in front of Ye Ziming’s face, grinning playfully.
“As the person who again and again and again made it to the top of the school heartthrob rankings, what are your thoughts? Do you have any tips to share with everyone?”
Lin Muqing didn’t even try to hide her teasing. She was clearly messing with her bro and enjoying it.
After being close friends for a year, Ye Ziming topping the ranking wasn’t surprising anymore. In fact, it would be bigger news if he didn’t make it one day.
“You like teasing people, huh?”
Ye Ziming raised his eyebrows slightly, squinted his eyes a little, and gave her a subtle but meaningful smile. There was a hint of danger in his voice.
Coincidentally, he had also seen the class group message earlier and had even checked out the newest ranking page.
After seeing it, he was a little surprised.
“How could that be? You know me, boss. I’m super well-behaved. I never tease people.”
That’s what she said, but Lin Muqing’s face was already showing a classic cheeky expression. She had no intention of stopping her teasing.
“You just said… you wanted to know how to get on the list?”
Ye Ziming’s lips curled slightly. He spoke in a calm voice, but the danger in his eyes grew stronger.
“Yeah! Teach me, please.”
Unfortunately, Lin Muqing didn’t notice how serious the situation was becoming. She had no idea danger was approaching. She was too busy trying to tease her buddy.
So, right after she said that, Ye Ziming suddenly reached out and put a hand on her shoulder.
He pulled her close with a little strength, bringing her closer to him.
“It’s easy, just date the number one school beauty.”
As he said that, he showed her his phone. On the screen was the freshly updated “School Beauty Rankings.”
His left arm was around her while his right hand held the phone. His eyes watched her face carefully, paying attention to every change in her expression.
You could see that at first, Lin Muqing was clearly stunned for a moment. It looked like she didn’t quite understand what was going on.
But when she saw his phone, and on it the number one spot on the ranking list. A picture of a cat-eared maid girl.
Her eyes suddenly widened, and her whole body froze. Her mouth hung open, but no words came out. That was a clear sign she was totally shocked.
“Come on, tell me how you feel, Miss most-beautiful-girl-in-school~”
When he said the last few words, Ye Ziming dragged out his voice in a teasing way. This time, it was his turn to wear a silly grin.
Another reversal, the one doing the teasing ended up being the one getting teased.
Being number one on the school beauty ranking… Lin Muqing had never even imagined such a thing in her life. She never thought it had anything to do with her.
She was a tough guy!
Now she was super embarrassed. She turned to look at her good buddy and saw that the smile on his face was kind of strange. It made her eyelids twitch nonstop.
“Ahem… I think…”
“Hm?”
“I think it’s getting kinda late. We should probably take a nap now, don’t you think?”
Her mouth twitched a little. Right now, Lin Muqing felt extremely awkward… and incredibly ashamed.
She had made up her mind to be a strong and manly girl, and now she was on the school beauty list, and even ranked number one.
Just thinking about it made her want to crawl into a hole and never come out again.
Because she was too embarrassed to face anyone!
“Yeah, it really is getting late.”
Ye Ziming looked at the wall clock and nodded as he spoke.
But while talking, his hand was still on Lin Muqing’s shoulder. It didn’t look like he planned to let her go anytime soon.
Since he had trained for years, he only had to use a bit of strength, and Lin Muqing couldn’t break free.
“…Is there something else?”
Lin Muqing asked in a weak voice.
“What do you think?”
Ye Ziming smiled as he replied.
“I think… there’s a small misunderstanding between us.”
“Oh really?”

Luckily, Ye Ziming didn’t do anything crazy. After a little while, he let Lin Muqing go rest in the guest room. After all, he wasn’t some kind of devil.
He just kept her around a bit longer because he thought she looked really cute like that and wanted to enjoy it for a while.
Her face was red, her eyes were darting around nervously, and she looked like she didn’t dare to move.
After letting her go and watching her walk into the guest room, Ye Ziming also got up and went toward his own room.
Before going in, he glanced at the other room nearby.
Since he had added some new furniture and done a bit of light remodeling, there was still a bit of a smell in that room.
Even with air fresheners and ventilation, it would take some time before the smell went away. Only then would it be okay for Lin Muqing to move in.
Inside the guest room, Lin Muqing tossed and turned on the bed. It took her a while to finally calm down.
“Ahhh! This is so embarrassing!”
Lying on the bed, she covered her head with a pillow and let out a groan of frustration.
Just thinking about how she was ranked as the top school beauty made her want to roll around on the bed a few more times.
She remembered seeing the school’s most-attractive rankings for the first time a year ago. Back then, she had wondered, ‘What if I ever showed up on that list? That’d be so cool…’
But she only dared to imagine it. Lin Muqing knew back then that she wasn’t the type to make the list.
Yet now, one year later, that crazy dream had actually come true, and in such a ridiculous way.
