Chapter 78: No Name Written
Before the school bell rang, Lin Muqing caught Ye Ziming and teased him nonstop, like she was getting revenge. She kept smiling the whole time.
Ye Ziming felt very frustrated about this, and also a bit helpless.
In theory, when a girl sees her boyfriend get a pink love letter, she should feel at least a little jealous or upset at the person who sent it.
But not only was Lin Muqing not upset, she actually looked really happy. That was what frustrated him the most. It just didn’t feel right.
“Ugh, no more water.”
Just as the warning bell rang, Lin Muqing felt thirsty. But when she looked at her water bottle, she saw it was already empty.
She was just complaining out loud, but Ye Ziming heard her and casually took out his own water bottle, handing it to her.
“Wow, thanks, boss!”
A water bottle appearing at just the right moment made Lin Muqing happy. She quickly took it with a smile after saying thanks.
Right then, she suddenly remembered something from last week. She had drunk straight from the bottle before.
Emmm… kinda awkward.
Even though a lot of boys didn’t care about that sort of thing, she actually did.
Drinking from the same bottle felt too much like… kissing, and that made her feel weird.
So, ever since she was little, she had never used anyone else’s cup, except her parents’ and her good buddy’s.
...Which somehow felt even weirder.
“The teacher’s coming.”
While Lin Muqing was still lost in thought, Ye Ziming glanced at her and quietly reminded her.
“Oh, right.”
After snapping out of it, Lin Muqing didn’t drink straight from the bottle. Instead, she poured some water into her own cup before drinking.
Just like Ye Ziming said, not long after, the teacher appeared at the classroom door, and then the school bell rang.
Class had started.
The three afternoon classes went by quickly. That pink letter stayed in Ye Ziming’s backpack the whole time. He never opened it, even after school.
As a good buddy, Lin Muqing didn’t keep teasing him. After that, she didn’t bring it up again.
Actually, Ye Ziming getting stuff like that wasn’t really anything new. Their classmates didn’t even seem surprised.
Since it had happened so many times before, nobody really cared anymore. Everyone just went on with their business.
When school ended, Ye Ziming casually grabbed his backpack and walked out of the classroom with Lin Muqing.
The pink letter didn’t feel like something he should open in class. He decided he’d find a better time and place to read it later.
“Ah! Oh no!”
Just as the two walked out together, Wang Wenxin, still sitting at her desk, suddenly remembered something and gasped.
“What’s wrong?”
Her shout startled Zhang Xiaoling, who was packing up her things. She looked at her bestie with a confused face.
“I… I forgot to write who it’s from!”
Wang Wenxin grabbed her head in frustration and flopped down on the desk.
“Forgot what?”
Zhang Xiaoling still didn’t get it. She looked completely lost.
“Sigh~ all that effort for nothing.”
“Huh?”
One was muttering sadly to herself, while the other just scratched her head, still totally confused.
It wasn’t until Lin Muqing walked right past them without even glancing their way that Wang Wenxin suddenly remembered her big mistake.
She had imitated Zhang Xiaoling’s handwriting and secretly written a pink love letter, hoping to give it to Lin Muqing as a little surprise, to help out her bestie.
Besides that one step, her plan had gone perfectly. Everything happened just as she had imagined. Lin Muqing received the pink letter and kept it.
But what she didn’t see was that the pink letter was actually taken by Ye Ziming, so it wasn’t in Lin Muqing’s hands at all.
“Do you want to know what I did?”
“…What did you do?”
Seeing the strange look in Wang Wenxin’s eyes, Zhang Xiaoling raised an eyebrow and took a step back. Her gut told her that this wasn’t going to be good.
“Actually, it’s like this…”
The story wasn’t complicated, just a few sentences and it was all clear.
“Oh no!”
After hearing Wang Wenxin’s explanation, Zhang Xiaoling nearly exploded. She let out a cry and almost jumped out of her chair.
She never expected her best friend’s so-called “help” to be this kind of help.
Thank goodness she didn’t write any name in the letter. Otherwise, she wouldn’t know how to face Lin Muqing anymore. To her, this would be like total social death!
“Hehe, sorry~”
On Lin Muqing’s side, after going home to change clothes and take off her jade pendant, she followed her best buddy to the cafe.
While she was changing in the dressing room, Ye Ziming sat in the office, closed the door, and started reading the letter.
It only took a short while for him to get the general idea of what it said.
“Who could it be?”
After reading, Ye Ziming narrowed his eyes, and a dangerous look appeared in them.
So it turns out… there was someone bold enough to act like this behind his back, even during the school’s strict rule period. That’s gutsy.
No matter what else, just that level of courage was enough to make Ye Ziming take this matter seriously.
In his whole life, it was the first time he felt this kind of danger… because someone had their eyes on his Lin Muqing.
Too bad the letter didn’t say who wrote it. If it did, he’d make sure they’d regret it.
Hmm~ He figured he should keep a close eye on Lin Muqing from now on. He wouldn’t allow any enemy to take advantage, not even a little!
At the same time, inside the break room of the cafe, Lin Muqing had just finished changing into her super cute cat-eared maid outfit.
“Lin Muqing~”
Just as Lin Muqing was about to leave the break room and head to the office, Sister Yu suddenly appeared and stopped her.
“What’s up?”
Tilting her head, Lin Muqing asked curiously.
“You said you wanted to learn makeup the other day, right?”
“Yeah, I did.”
Thinking back for a moment, she remembered she did say that because she had heard about a maid sister who also worked part-time as a makeup artist.
She only did makeup for a few people, yet earned so much. So Lin Muqing had blurted out that she wanted to learn too.
“Great. Starting now, I’ll be your teacher.”
Seeing Lin Muqing’s cute and surprised reaction, Sister Yu chuckled, then smiled warmly and said that to her.
Yesterday, which was Sunday, Sister Yu had spent some time putting together a beginner’s makeup kit. After carefully choosing, she believed it would be perfect for Lin Muqing.
After she said that, Lin Muqing froze for a moment—she seemed a bit shocked and unsure how to react.
“You’ll teach me? Right now?”
“Yes, right now.”
Lin Muqing was a little surprised. She had thought about learning, but she didn’t expect to start so soon.
It all happened so suddenly that she didn’t even know what to say. Plus, she was technically still working.
“Haha~ come with me.”
Sister Yu took just one look and already guessed what she was hesitating about, so she gently took her hand.
Then she turned around and led Lin Muqing out of the break room, heading toward the office.
“Huh?”
Lin Muqing was confused and didn’t understand what Sister Yu was doing. When she came to her senses, she was already standing outside the office.
