Chapter 85: Parents Are Urging
"What is going on?!"
Standing in her room, Lin Muqing covered her cheeks with both hands and looked at herself in the mirror, letting out a surprised shout.
Her face was red, her breathing was a bit heavy, and her heart was beating fast. All signs of having just done some intense exercise.
But… it wasn’t just from exercise. Part of the reason was that unexpected hug just now.
It reminded her of the comic convention over the weekend, and what happened on stage.
That thought made her feel strange again. Her mood suddenly became very complicated. It was a feeling she had never experienced before, and she didn’t understand why it was happening.
After thinking for a moment, she walked to the bathroom, washed her face with cold water to calm herself down, and then started changing clothes.
After a while, when Lin Muqing came downstairs again, the heat in her face had finally gone away, and she let out a small sigh of relief.
"Let’s go," she said, trying to act normal as she stood in front of her close friend again. She smiled awkwardly.
"Okay."
Ye Ziming nodded calmly, then got in the car with her and headed to the cafe.
Maybe he was happy with Lin Muqing’s reaction, or maybe he just felt satisfied after that hug. Either way, Ye Ziming didn’t bring up what had just happened.
The whole ride there, he had a light smile on his face, quietly watching Lin Muqing beside him. He thought this was kind of fun.
It felt like no matter what she did, whether she moved a little or glanced at him secretly, it all looked really cute to him.
After they arrived at the cafe, Lin Muqing looked nervous and quickly headed toward the break room. Ye Ziming quietly smiled at the sight.
After watching her for a moment, he turned around and walked into his office.
He poured himself a glass of water, then sat down in his chair. Before starting work, he glanced at his phone.
That one glance showed him something surprising. There were a lot of new messages in the class group chat, and he saw Lin Muqing’s name mentioned.
Curious, he opened the group chat in WeChat.
They were talking about a video from the comic convention over the weekend. It was taken on the stage, and the main characters were him and Lin Muqing.
"I knew this would happen eventually."
Frowning a little, Ye Ziming muttered to himself.
He wasn’t really surprised. He had expected someone would record the performance and guessed it would stir up some talk.
What he didn’t expect was that it took a few days for the video to spread, seems like he gave this group too much credit for their ability to get news quickly.
Still, he wasn’t too worried about it. He didn’t think it would cause a big stir.
What actually did bother him were the earlier messages from his parents on WeChat.
[Mom: Son, when are you bringing your girlfriend home for us to meet? She’s so cute! I really like her!]

[Big Brother: Wow, I didn’t think you were really dating someone. I’ll be home for the National Day break, bring her so Mom and Dad can meet her.]
All these messages were from before, and it was clear that they were all very interested in Lin Muqing. They all wanted to meet his “girlfriend.”
Well, except for his sister, because she had already met her.
The National Day seven-day holiday wasn’t far away, just a little over half a month.
What Ye Ziming was thinking now wasn’t whether to bring Lin Muqing home… but how to do it, or rather how to trick her into going with him.

In the break room, Sister Yu was, as usual, teaching Lin Muqing basic knowledge about the makeup products. There was still quite a lot to cover.

Hearing that the lesson was over, Lin Muqing couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief. Finally, it was done.
She packed up her notebook and, as Sister Yu had instructed, neatly sorted and stored each type of makeup into the makeup case.
Only after that was she officially done for the day.
“I’m off to eat, then!”
She stood up, said goodbye to Sister Yu, then walked out with her lunchbox.
Even though learning had been tiring, that didn’t affect her appetite.
After all, a true foodie eats no matter what! A foodie’s soul is unstoppable!
“Wait a sec!”
Lin Muqing had just scooped her food and was about to leave the kitchen when the cook uncle suddenly called out to her.
“What is it?”
With her lunchbox in one hand and chopsticks in the other, Lin Muqing stopped and looked at the chef walking toward her in confusion.
“I heard from Sister Yu that you want to learn how to make desserts.”
“Ah… yes.”
Flashback to yesterday, she had been thinking about what gift to give her close buddy when they went to see a movie together over the weekend.
She thought about it for a long time but couldn’t come up with anything good. After all, her buddy was super rich, and if she bought something, it probably wouldn’t have much of an effect.
More importantly, it wouldn’t really show that it came from the heart.
While she was still worrying about it, Sister Yu suggested she try making something herself, like cookies or other sweets.
She thought it sounded like a great idea, and Sister Yu even said she’d find someone to teach her an easy recipe.
“If you're free tomorrow afternoon, I can teach you.”
The chef uncle said with a big smile. He remembered Sister Yu had told him if he taught her well, there might be a raise in it for him.
Before hearing that, he had figured the girl just wanted to try it out for fun, so he’d just show her some basic stuff.
But after hearing the incentive, he suddenly thought. Well, even if the dessert is simple, there are a lot of little tricks involved. He’d better teach her properly!
“Oh, okay!”
Seeing how enthusiastic the chef uncle was, Lin Muqing was a bit surprised and thought he must be a really kind person.
Even though the kitchen was busy, he was willing to take the time to teach her how to make desserts. She figured she better take it seriously and do her best to learn.
She waved goodbye to the chef with a smile, then turned and headed back to the break room with her lunch to eat dinner.
Halfway through eating, she suddenly realized something.
Wait… is she still technically working part-time here?
It felt like all she did was learn. First from Sister Yu about makeup, now from the chef about desserts.
“Ummm… is this really okay?”
After work, Lin Muqing shared this thought with her close buddy.
“Of course it’s okay.”
Ye Ziming was totally supportive of the idea. In fact, when it came to skills like cooking, he even hoped Lin Muqing would learn even more.
