Chapter 90: Someone Watching in Secret
Ever since the post got deleted, Zhang Suxin had been secretly keeping an eye on Ye Ziming, trying to find out who the cat-eared maid girl was.
But after two whole days, she still hadn’t found anything useful. Ye Ziming hadn’t had any contact with any girls.
However, she did notice something. Ye Ziming’s relationship with Lin Muqing seemed to be better than the rumors said.
Looking at how they acted together, she thought, If these two don’t get married, it would be a huge loss for society.
“Sigh… I’ll just come back and check again tomorrow.”
After thinking about it, Zhang Suxin kept watching for a while longer, but she still didn’t find anything. Ye Ziming didn’t show a single weakness.
She felt pretty frustrated about it, but reminded herself, ‘If I can just find out who the cat-eared maid girl is, it’ll go viral!’ That gave her the motivation to keep going.
“I won’t give up!”
Muttering that to herself, Zhang Suxin turned around and walked back to her own classroom.

Not sure what was going on, Lin Muqing exchanged glances with Zhang Xiaoling, then turned and left the classroom with her good buddy, time to go make money at work.
“What was that about? Go talk to her!”
After watching the two of them leave, Wang Wenxin poked Zhang Xiaoling’s arm and widened her eyes in confusion.

Looking at her best friend slumped on the desk, Wang Wenxin smiled mischievously.

Zhang Xiaoling suddenly sat up straight and turned to glare at Wang Wenxin, pointing at her nose as she complained.

“Sorry, sorry! If anything did happen, I definitely wouldn’t throw you under the bus, okay? Don’t worry!”
The two girls started playfully arguing again. That whole pink envelope thing for Lin Muqing had ended up affecting both of them.
Because of it, Zhang Xiaoling didn’t even dare show how she really felt at school anymore, she was afraid the teachers might catch her.
As class monitor, she happened to overhear some teachers talking and picked up on things most students didn’t know.
And because of that, she had a feeling that this so-called “strict crackdown” wasn’t as simple as it looked.
The weird thing was, everything that had happened these past few days seemed to be connected, directly or indirectly, to the cat-eared maid girl.
Especially when Lin Wenbin got taken away and the “Knight Order” got investigated by the school… after that, a lot fewer students were talking about picking a new school beauty.
At least this afternoon, she barely heard anyone mention it.
When she thought about it this way, she suddenly felt like all these things that had happened were actually meant to protect Ye Ziming’s rumored girlfriend.

In the cafe kitchen, the chef uncle was teaching Lin Muqing how to make cookies.
The way he taught was by showing her directly. He made a cookie on the spot.
And besides showing her, the chef uncle also made a very beginner-friendly recipe.
As long as Lin Muqing followed the steps exactly, even if the cookies weren’t perfect, they would still turn out pretty good.
“Pack it in a box and take it home to eat.”

Smiling, the chef uncle handed her a food container, then started cleaning up the kitchen tools.

“If I give it to him now, will it still count as a surprise later?”
Looking down at the floor, Lin Muqing muttered to herself.
“What are you standing here for?”
Just then, Sister Yu happened to walk up to the office door to talk to the manager about something cafe-related.
Seeing Lin Muqing standing there, she lightly tapped her on the shoulder and asked with a smile.
“Ah, Sister Yu.”
Seeing Sister Yu behind her, Lin Muqing looked like she had just found a lifesaver. She quickly told her what she was struggling with.
The movie-and-dinner idea had been Sister Yu’s suggestion too, so Lin Muqing trusted her and felt she could share these thoughts.

After hearing her worries, Sister Yu almost laughed out loud. She thought it was way too cute.
Then she led Lin Muqing to the break room, took a small portion of the cookies, and walked to the office door again.
A little while later, when Sister Yu came out of the office, the cookies and the bill were gone, left behind in the office.
“How did it go, Sister Yu?”
As soon as Sister Yu opened the break room door, before she could say anything, Lin Muqing jumped out, looking at her eagerly.
“Yep, the manager said he really liked them.”
Patting her head, Sister Yu smiled as she spoke.
“Phew~ That’s a relief.”
She finally let out a breath of relief. She had been worried for a long time just now, afraid that her buddy might think the cookies were too sweet or not tasty.
Even though the chef uncle made this batch, Lin Muqing had done most of the steps herself.
And now it seemed like her cookies were pretty good, at least her buddy liked them.
“Let me tell you, when you give the real gift next time, you can use a different cookie mold. It’ll look better that way.”
“Really?”
“Also, don’t use this kind of food container for a gift. It doesn’t look good.”
“Oh, okay! I’ll remember that.”
After everything, Sister Yu gave Lin Muqing another mini lesson, on how to express her feelings better.
By the end, Sister Yu even gave her a heart-shaped cookie mold and a cute pink gift box with heart patterns.
It all made perfect sense.
