Chapter 25: Once I Got My Hands on It
Seeing Lin Muxi sitting beside him, blood still slowly seeping through the cloth wrapped around her head, Mo Ziyang felt not only worried but also a little guilty.
Luckily, there were hardly any cars on the road from her house to his family’s private hospital. To get her there as fast as possible, Mo Ziyang ran red lights and sped the whole way, cutting a thirty-minute drive down to just over ten minutes.
Beep beep beep… While driving, he called his grandfather.
“Hello? Why are you calling Grandpa…?”
A warm, calm voice came through the phone as the call connected.
“Grandpa, Lin Muxi fell at home. She hit her head and it’s bleeding. She’s passed out. I’m driving her to our hospital right now.”
Before his grandfather could finish speaking, Mo Ziyang quickly explained everything in a rush.
“What? Wait there, I’ll call the hospital right now.”
Hearing his grandson’s words, the old man’s voice grew tense. He quickly hung up, gave urgent instructions to the staff, and got into his car, heading straight for the hospital.
Meanwhile, Mo Ziyang was almost at the hospital gates. There were many patients outside, but several medical staff members were already waiting with a stretcher, ready for his arrival.
As his sports car rolled up to the hospital, Mo Ziyang lowered the window and waved for the medical staff to come over quickly.
“Hurry, hurry—the young master is here!”
Seeing the Mo family’s eldest grandson waving at them, they rushed forward with the stretcher. They gently lifted Lin Muxi, whose head was still bleeding, from the car onto the stretcher.
“I want her awake tonight. If she doesn’t wake up, you’re all fired,” Mo Ziyang said coldly, giving them a direct order.
“Yes, yes!”
Once Lin Muxi was secure on the stretcher, the staff rushed toward the emergency room without looking back.
“Sigh… how did it come to this…”
Watching her disappear down the hallway, Mo Ziyang clenched his fists. He did feel guilty toward Lin Muxi, but at the same time, his pride made it hard to bow his head.
But still, what was going on with Lin Muxi back then?
He thought about the moment she fell, when he accidentally tore her pants and had to put new ones on her… and what he saw then.
Gone? That couldn’t be right, they had even gone to the bathroom together before. Could it be that she suddenly turned into a girl? That made no sense… Surely she hadn’t been taken for surgery? Or maybe he was just too panicked at the time and saw wrong?
“Young master, young master—you’re here, this way!”
Suddenly, a voice pulled him out of his thoughts.
“Hm?”
He looked up to see the hospital director and two assistants waving at him from a short distance away before jogging over and bowing.
Mo Ziyang was puzzled, he wasn’t the one injured, so why was the director here?
“Why are you out here? Shouldn’t you be in your office?”
“Huh?”
The director froze for a second, then looked at him in confusion and spoke in a low voice.
“Young master… you mean you don’t know? The old master is on his way here too.”
“What? My grandpa’s coming? Why didn’t I know that?”
When Mo Ziyang heard that his grandfather was also coming, he froze for a moment and instantly felt uneasy.
If his grandfather found out that Lin Muxi fell and got hurt because of him, he would probably get whipped with a belt again tonight.
Great… Now if he ran away, he would worry about Lin Muxi. But if he stayed here, his grandfather might arrive and start yelling at him. Leaving was bad, staying was bad, so his only option left was to go keep Lin Muxi company.
“Forget that for now. Which room is she in?”
“You mean your girlfriend, young master? She’s already been taken to your VIP room,” the hospital director replied.
Noticing the slight awkwardness on Mo Ziyang’s face when he spoke, the director gave a knowing smile.
“She’s not… never mind, I’m going,” Mo Ziyang muttered. Explaining would be pointless, so he didn’t waste words. He headed straight for the private ward on the top floor of the hospital.
“Sigh… I wonder which family’s girl is so lucky,” the director said softly as he watched the Mo family’s young master walk away. For ordinary people like them, reaching that level was almost impossible.
Then, he noticed a long luxury car slowly driving toward the hospital and quickly told his two assistants to stand properly.
“Stand straight, the old master is here. Get ready to welcome him.”
Meanwhile, Mo Ziyang arrived at the ward door and stood still, staring through the small glass window at the unconscious Lin Muxi lying in bed.
“Ah… young master? Aren’t you going in?”
The nurse who had just changed Lin Muxi’s bandages opened the door and was startled to see Mo Ziyang peeking inside.
“How… how is she now?”
Inside the room, Mo Ziyang sat by Lin Muxi’s bedside. There was a hint of guilt in his eyes as he looked at her pale face.
“She’s stable for now,” the nurse replied. “Luckily it’s just surface injuries. She should wake up after resting a bit longer.”
Hearing that, Mo Ziyang finally felt a weight lift off his chest. He was about to wave the nurse away when he suddenly remembered something and called her back.
“Wait, there’s something else.”
“What is it, young master? Please tell me.”
Looking at the still-unconscious Lin Muxi in her hospital gown, Mo Ziyang closed his eyes for a moment and then asked the question that had been bothering him.
“Did you check her body? Is she… male or female?”
“Huh?”
The nurse froze, completely thrown off by his question.
“Young master… isn’t she your girlfriend? Why would you…”
“Forget it, just go.”
“Actually, young master… there’s something I’m not sure if I should tell you,” the nurse interrupted.
“Say it.”
“It’s… this.”
She walked over and handed Mo Ziyang two used band-aids. His eyes widened.
“What is this? Why are you giving me band-aids?”
Realizing what she had just given him, Mo Ziyang quickly shook his hand and threw them away.
“They were… found on her body,” the nurse explained, her face turning red. “At her age, she should be wearing those instead. It’s not good for her development otherwise.”
She glanced shyly toward Lin Muxi’s upper body.
Mo Ziyang stared in confusion. What was going on? Was his bro actually a girl? Could there be a mistake?
And those band-aids… on her chest…
In just a moment, Mo Ziyang understood what the nurse meant. Seriously? My bro is into this kind of thing?
But those things are only used by women… and Lin Muxi was supposed to be a man.
“Just go,” Mo Ziyang said, rubbing his forehead. He still couldn’t figure it out.
“Yes, young master. I’ll leave.”
The door closed with a soft thud, and Mo Ziyang’s gaze toward Lin Muxi became more and more complicated.
There’s no way she’s a woman. No way. Mo Ziyang didn’t believe it. He was determined to find out the truth himself, even if it meant touching her to check.
