Chapter 32: You’re Playing with Fire
“What’s wrong with me? Ugh… why does my head hurt so much…”
Lying on the hospital bed, Lin Muxi slowly opened her eyes. Enduring the sharp pain in her head, she sat up.
Looking around, she saw the dark night outside the window and Mo Ziyang asleep at the foot of her bed. After brushing her hair back and thinking carefully, she finally remembered what happened before she fainted.
Damn it! Not only did he turn her into a girl, he also caused her to faint twice. This Mo Ziyang was guilty beyond… beyond… words…
“Ugh… ah! It hurts, it hurts, it hurts!”
Just when Lin Muxi was about to explode at Mo Ziyang, who was sleeping at the end of the bed, a wave of pain like her head was splitting rushed through her mind. She screamed out loud.
“You…” Mo Ziyang was woken by the noise. Seeing Lin Muxi suffering from the headache, he shook his head helplessly.
When the pain finally eased, Lin Muxi noticed Mo Ziyang was no longer at the bed’s end. He was standing right in front of her, looking worried, and gently stroking her head.
“What are you doing! Isn’t this all your fault? If not for you, would I be like this? I swear I’ll—ahhh! So painful!”
Lin Muxi slapped away Mo Ziyang’s hand in disgust and shoved him aside. She opened her mouth to scold him, but after only a few words, the headache struck again. She collapsed onto the bed, clutching her head to barely ease the pain.
“Listen to me. Right now, you can’t let your emotions get too intense, especially anger. Just rest properly…”
Pushed aside, Mo Ziyang sat nearby, speaking carefully so she wouldn’t be triggered again. His tone was stiff, but the concern inside was clear.
“You… saying this now is useless. Do you even know? Because of you, my life will never go back to what it was…”
As she spoke, painful memories flooded her mind. The strength in Lin Muxi’s voice visibly weakened, and even her once-angry eyes dimmed.
“Not only that… from now on, I’ll always have to hide my identity. Everything I do will be inconvenient… and also…”
Slowly, she sat up. Facing each other, Mo Ziyang quietly watched Lin Muxi. Her hair brushed her shoulders, and tears shimmered in her eyes as she poured her heart out to him.
By the time she finished, the blanket under her was soaked with tears. Her small, slender hands kept wiping her pale cheeks, but the tears wouldn’t stop flowing.
“Hey… why aren’t you saying anything? It’s obviously… obviously all your fault… ugh…”
Disappointed by Mo Ziyang’s silence, the wronged Lin Muxi lightly punched his chest. It wasn’t hard, but it landed solidly.
“Say something… what’s the point of just being silent…”
Though Lin Muxi was treating him like a punching bag, Mo Ziyang’s eyes showed no anger. Instead, they were full of guilt.
Even if it hadn’t been intentional (to be fair, the current Lin Muxi was really too cute), everything had still happened because of him. Even if it was an accident, he couldn’t escape responsibility, especially since the one affected was his adorable good bro.
“I… I’m sorry. You know me, I would never…”
Looking at Lin Muxi’s small hand hitting him, Mo Ziyang didn’t push it away. Instead, he gently held it, letting her delicate fist hit him a few more times before catching it in his palm.
“If it helps you feel better, you can hit me as much as you want.”
“What kind of nonsense is that… you…”
Angry but also amused by Mo Ziyang’s silly reaction, Lin Muxi swung her fists and punched him twice in the chest, making a dull thumping sound.
“Does it hurt…?”
Without looking at him, she lowered her head and asked softly.
But even though she punched hard, to Mo Ziyang it was like nothing, just like being tickled.
“No, it doesn’t hurt… you know I’ve trained…”
Before he could finish, Lin Muxi punched him a few more times.
“Does it hurt now?”
“No.”
That answer only earned him two even harder punches. Even though her head stayed lowered, making it hard for him to see her face, Mo Ziyang could easily feel the anger in every punch.
“Say it hurts… quickly…”
When Mo Ziyang still didn’t answer, Lin Muxi gave him another punch, though this time not as strong.
“…It hurts.”
“Pfft, hahaha… so you can say it.”
Lin Muxi suddenly laughed. She lifted her head, her teary eyes shining as she looked helplessly at her good bro.
“Tell me… what should I do from now on…”
For some reason, at that moment Mo Ziyang found her more and more pitiful. She was nothing like the Lin Muxi who always argued with him before.
Without realizing it, his hand gently touched her face, wiping away the tears on her cheeks.
“What are you doing… I’ll remind you, I’m still a man… You—you—you better not be planning anything with me.”
The sudden touch made Lin Muxi blush bright red. She turned her head away shyly, looking just like a girl about to be teased by her boyfriend.
“Think about what you’ve done today, there’s not a trace of a man left in you. And if it’s just about your identity, I can help you handle it.”
After lightly teasing her, maybe because he felt guilty, Mo Ziyang also told her he could help.
“Who needs your help… And take your hand away, how long do you plan to keep touching me?”
Annoyed, Lin Muxi swatted his hand off her face and glared at him in embarrassment.
“And also… this side of me, you’ll only see it today. Don’t expect me to ever show it again!”
“Okay, okay, don’t get mad. Your head injury still hasn’t healed.”
Seeing Lin Muxi looking so delicate after venting her feelings, Mo Ziyang had no choice but to let her be.
“Ohh? I didn’t expect Young Master Mo to be so easy to deal with for once.”
Not learning her lesson, Lin Muxi thought she could take advantage of her “girl” status to tease him. She leaned closer, grinning as she looked at Mo Ziyang trying to act calm.
“Lin Muxi, just because I’m being patient doesn’t mean I won’t hold a grudge.”
Her mischievous look made Mo Ziyang grab her and warn her.
After all, with such a cute girl acting spoiled right in front of him, it was impossible not to feel something.
But now that she had found Mo Ziyang’s weak spot, there was no way Lin Muxi would stop. She threw herself into his arms, lying there shyly with a blush on her face as she looked up at him.
“Oh my, is the great Young Master Mo scared? If you miss this chance today, you won’t get another one.”
“Lin Muxi, you’re playing with fire. Don’t forget you still have to go to school later. Keep this up, and don’t blame me for not holding back.”
Ugh… when did this guy learn to talk like that? Complaining inwardly while staring at the blushing little troublemaker in his arms, Mo Ziyang held back and gave his final warning.
