Chapter 206: The Class
The three-day New Year’s holiday passed quickly.
Three days ago, most people on the street were still wearing just thin jackets to stay warm. But now, their clothes were clearly much thicker.
During the day, the temperature was still around 10 degrees Celsius, but at night it had dropped to single digits. The past few nights, Li Mu had even been woken up by the cold while sleeping under the blanket.
“Hey, breakfast.”
When Li Mu arrived at the entrance of the neighborhood, Yu Fan was already waiting on his electric scooter.
He was eating his own breakfast while chatting with Li Mu.
“My family came back yesterday and kept asking me to bring you over. Otherwise, they just kept asking for your photo.”
“Mm.”
“Even after I gave them a photo, they still didn’t believe me. I mean, I’m not bad-looking or anything, but they said I was like a toad who got lucky with a swan.” Yu Fan laughed as he pulled a helmet from under the seat.
“Families are always like that.”
Li Mu was in a good mood today. After being a little cold at first, a smile slowly appeared on her face.
Although she hadn’t heard anything new from her grandpa’s side yet, at least she didn’t have to worry about it for now.
After finishing breakfast, she put on her helmet and sat on the back of the scooter. Naturally, she slipped her hands into the pockets of Yu Fan’s jacket and rested her head, helmet and all, against his back, her neck tucked in from the cold.
The moment the scooter started moving, she shivered again.
“So cold…”
Riding a scooter in the middle of winter was torture. As soon as the scooter began to move, cold wind rushed up her sleeves, sneaking in from every gap, making her shiver nonstop.
“Then hold on tighter.”
After hesitating for a moment, Li Mu leaned her whole body against Yu Fan’s back.
But it was so cold that they were both wearing thick clothes, so the soft, warm feeling Yu Fan was hoping for didn’t happen.
He sighed a little disappointedly.
“The physical check-up for the spring entrance exam is coming soon.”
“Mm.”
“By then, we won’t be able to hide this from our classmates.”
Li Mu wasn’t too bothered by that anymore. She answered casually, “It’s fine. There’s not much time left until graduation anyway.”
The spring exams were just a couple of weeks away. At this point, it wouldn’t really matter if her gender was revealed.
Besides, most of their classmates were too focused on preparing for the exams. Even if her secret got out, it probably wouldn’t be a big topic for long.
After riding across more than half the city, the two of them arrived at the school’s bike parking area.
“Yu Fan! What a coincidence!”
As soon as they stepped out of the parking shed, a loud voice caught their attention.
“Xu Ze, don’t you live nearby? Why are you here so early?” Yu Fan smiled as he walked over to the big, loud guy and put an arm around his shoulder.
Xu Ze looked curiously at Li Mu, then complained to Yu Fan, “Dude, you haven’t come out to hang lately, and you never invite me to play games. Every time I ask, you say you’re going to shower and sleep. But then I see you posting stuff late at night!”
“You don’t love me anymore!” he said, half-jokingly.
“I’ve just been busy, man.”
Yu Fan laughed and threw his arm around Xu Ze’s shoulders. “With how cold it is these days, who wants to go out?”
“But still! You play games and don’t call me! And when I call you, you’re always busy!”
‘Well, obviously, I’m playing games with my girlfriend. Why would I invite you?’ Yu Fan thought to himself.
Listening to their conversation, Li Mu felt a little awkward. She turned her head away slightly, feeling like she had become the bad guy who "stole" her boyfriend from his friend.
By the time the three of them arrived at the classroom, there were still only a few students inside.
Even though there had been a three-day holiday, Li Mu didn’t slack off in her studies. As soon as she sat down, she took out her Chinese textbook and started reviewing the key points and the texts she needed to memorize.
“Li Mu, it’s been so cold these days~”
Looking up, Li Mu saw that Wang Ruoyan was wearing one of her jackets and had sat down next to her.
“Why are you wearing my jacket?”
In the past, she would have been really annoyed if someone wore her clothes without asking. But after spending time in the girls’ dorm, she had gotten used to it.
After all, if her roommates didn’t mind sharing clothes, she had started to fit in too.
“It’s cold, okay? I forgot to bring my own jacket,” Wang Ruoyan pouted. “Besides, you have a bunch of thick jackets in your closet.”
Because Li Mu had to deal with ghosts and needed to hide her chest, her jackets were thicker than usual.
“Fine, wear it if you want. Where are the other two?”
“Still in the dorm, I guess?” Wang Ruoyan suddenly leaned in and lowered her voice, “So… how far have you and Yu Fan gone?”
“No progress.”
“Really?” She muttered, a bit disappointed, “Then I’m gonna make my move again. At the graduation party, I’ll get him drunk and make it happen! He has to take responsibility, right?”
This girl is way too bold…
Li Mu’s eye twitched. Knowing Wang Ruoyan’s personality, she might actually do something like that.
She acted so playful and crazy like a husky, nothing she did would surprise Li Mu anymore.
“What are you two talking about?”
The two girls turned around at the same time and saw Yang Ye standing nearby with a thermos in his hand.
“Teacher, you’re here so early?” Wang Ruoyan reached out and grabbed his thermos. “Perfect timing, I'm freezing. Let me drink something warm.”
“You should take better care of yourself. The weather changes fast.” Yang Ye didn’t mind and just yawned, speaking lazily, “I was afraid I’d oversleep, so I rushed to school right after I woke up. Since I got here early, I thought I’d drop by and check on you guys.”
“Wait, your thermos has milk tea in it?”
“Isn’t hot milk tea perfect for winter?”
“Then what do you drink in summer?”
“Usually Coke.” Yang Ye took his thermos back and then looked at Li Mu.
“The money for the top ten singers will be given out this week. The physical check-up is on Wednesday, figure out how to handle it.”
Li Mu nodded, “I know.”
She went back to reading, while Wang Ruoyan and Yang Ye walked off, chatting and laughing.
The medical check-up was definitely a headache. She couldn’t do it alone, it would probably be done in groups, either by class or everyone taking the spring exams at the school.
It was impossible to hide her gender at that point. So now it was better to think about how to minimize the impact once it was revealed.
After thinking for a while, she turned around and suddenly said to Wang Chen.
“Actually, I’m a girl.”
“Oh.”
Wang Chen responded without even lifting his head. He probably already knew she was a girl.
Li Mu looked around the classroom and wondered how many classmates had figured it out but never said anything, or maybe only talked about it in small groups.
After all, she hadn’t done a perfect job hiding it. Even when wearing boys’ clothes, she still looked like a girl.
“So, what are you planning to do?”
Wang Chen finally looked up, his eyes showing a bit of suspicion.
“Nothing.”
“Just don’t try to mess with me…” he mumbled, then leaned down on the desk and teased in a low voice, “Why don’t you just wear girls’ clothes to class?”
Li Mu didn’t bother responding and asked back, “When did you find out?”
“I'm not blind.”
