Chapter 219: Dormitory
After the dinner party ended, the classmates who got drunk were sent home by their friends.
The ones who were still sober and wanted to have more fun, about a dozen people, planned to follow Yang Ye to a nearby karaoke.
"Go home early tonight, okay? I’m heading to KTV now," Yu Fan reminded Li Mu and Xiao Jing before leaving. "I’m going to stay out all night and not come back. Tomorrow morning, what do you want for breakfast? I’ll bring you something when I come back."
"Anything is fine," Li Mu answered casually.
Lin Yuanyuan and Wang Ruoyan were busy helping the very drunk Chen Li and didn’t have time to care about Yu Fan.
"I want to go sing too!" Xiao Jing jumped and raised her arms excitedly. "I want to sing!"
Yu Fan looked a bit troubled, but Yang Ye came over and said, "Take her with you. It’s not convenient for Li Mu and the others to bring a little kid in the car."
"But I also want to go to an internet cafe and play all night..." Yu Fan sighed helplessly. "Guess I’ll just take Xiao Jing back home after we finish singing."
"I want to stay out all night too!"
"Stop pushing your luck!"
While the big one and the little one were still arguing, Yang Ye turned to Li Mu and the others.
He looked a bit embarrassed and said, "I’ll leave Chen Li to you guys. After you send her back, you three should also go home early."
"Where’s her home?" Wang Ruoyan asked, still a bit confused.
"Just take her back to the school dormitory. I’ll call the security guard ahead of time so they let you in. Oh, and remember to pack up all your things before winter break."
Lin Yuanyuan nodded very obediently. Wang Ruoyan still looked unhappy, probably still upset at how cold Yang Ye had acted earlier.
Yang Ye also felt helpless. His impression of Chen Li was just that she was a quiet, good student. They usually didn’t have much contact.
It wasn’t possible for him to agree to her feelings just because she confessed. That was too careless with someone's feelings.
After Li Mu and the other three got into a passing taxi, and the taxi disappeared into the night, Yang Ye finally relaxed and led the rest of the classmates to KTV to keep having fun.
In the taxi, the middle-aged driver glanced into the rearview mirror and asked worriedly, "She’s not gonna throw up in my car, right?"
"We have a plastic bag. If she throws up in the car, we’ll have to pay for it," Li Mu replied.
Lin Yuanyuan took out a bag she grabbed from the food stall and handed it to Li Mu and Wang Ruoyan sitting in the back seat. This girl was as careful and thoughtful as always.
Chen Li, still looking dizzy, leaned her head on Wang Ruoyan’s shoulder, her eyes half-closed. Luckily, even though she was drunk, she wasn’t causing trouble. She was just quietly resting.
"How can parents be like this?" Wang Ruoyan kept her back stiff and dared not move too much. She complained, "There are still people who favor boys over girls."
"Some people’s thinking is still stuck in the past," Li Mu said blankly, looking out at the night lights.
"But still, you can’t just sell your daughter to buy a house for your son," Wang Ruoyan said heavily.
Normally, she was the liveliest one and always full of crazy ideas, but now even she had no solution.
Their talk woke up Chen Li, who had been dozing off.
She tried hard to open her sleepy eyes and asked, "Where are we?"
"We're in a taxi, taking you back to school," they answered.
"Oh..."
"Hey, Chen Li," Lin Yuanyuan, sitting in the front passenger seat, turned around and asked, "Does the guy you’re supposed to meet for the blind date know about your situation?"
Chen Li blinked, thinking for a moment, then shook her head.
"I don’t even have his phone number. Everything has been arranged through the matchmaker and my parents. I don’t really know much."
"No way, not even adding him on WeChat before meeting?"
"We added each other... but we haven’t chatted."
"We’ll stay with you in the dorm tonight, okay?" Wang Ruoyan suggested. "What time is your blind date tomorrow?"
Li Mu opened his mouth, wanting to say no. After all, Xiao Jing had gone to KTV with Yu Fan.
But thinking about it more carefully, Yu Fan was usually pretty reliable. Leaving Xiao Jing with him should be fine, so Li Mu nodded and agreed.
Besides, they still had some things left in the dorm to pack up. It would be good to finish packing tomorrow and take everything home together.
"Noon."
"Okay! Let’s all go together then!" Wang Ruoyan said happily. "Even if she really has to get married so soon, at least she should find someone with a good character!"
But wasn’t the plan supposed to be helping Chen Li both continue college and avoid getting married so soon?
How did it turn into finding her a good family instead?
Li Mu looked helplessly at the dizzy Chen Li, who looked completely lost after drinking. She couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for this usually quiet girl.
The taxi arrived at the school gate.
Li Mu and Lin Yuanyuan helped Chen Li out of the car, while Wang Ruoyan ran over to the security booth and knocked on the window.
The security guard opened the window, took a look outside, and immediately opened the gate. Yang Ye had already called earlier to explain the situation.
It was only about nine o'clock.
The school dorms weren’t locked yet, and there were still a few students wandering around the playground.
Once inside the school, Wang Ruoyan called Yang Ye to let him know they arrived safely.
"I’m hungry," she said after hanging up the phone, looking pitifully at Li Mu. "I didn’t really eat much earlier."
"Let’s send Chen Li back to her room first," Li Mu said.
Chen Li had slipped back into a half-asleep state. She probably only weighed about 100 pounds, but leaning all soft and heavy against Li Mu’s shoulder, it felt like carrying bags of cement.
If only there was a guy here, they could just carry her princess-style to the dorm, instead of the three of them staggering along carefully.
Lin Yuanyuan was thin and didn’t last long before she got too tired. Then Wang Ruoyan took over carrying Chen Li.
"I’ll go to the shop and buy some snacks, okay?" Wang Ruoyan offered.
"Go, go," Li Mu said.
Just as they got back to the dorm building, Chen Li suddenly rushed toward the bathroom at the end of the hallway.
Li Mu and Wang Ruoyan quickly followed her and heard the sound of her throwing up.
A few minutes later, Chen Li came out of the bathroom looking very weak. She rinsed her mouth at the sink, and when she looked at Li Mu again, the confusion and dazed look in her eyes had faded a lot.
"I want to take a shower and sleep," she said.
"You drank so much, better not shower now," Wang Ruoyan said, worried that Chen Li might slip and get hurt.
She grabbed Chen Li’s arm and started pulling her toward the dorm room.
"Just change your clothes. You didn’t throw up on yourself, right?"
"No, I didn’t," Chen Li replied.
Li Mu, following behind them, added, "Then hurry up and sleep. You still have a blind date tomorrow."
"Mm," Chen Li nodded.
Even though she hadn’t been roommates with them for long, she thought they were good friends.
Compared to her old dormmates, Chen Zhihao and Wang Chen, she felt much closer to her current friends.
Back when she lived in the boys’ dorm, her cold attitude made it hard for her to get along with anyone.
Chen Li changed into her pajamas and slowly climbed into bed. Within just a few seconds, Li Mu heard loud snoring filling the room.
Even when Yu Fan got drunk and snored at Li Mu’s house, it hadn’t been this loud!
Then came a knock at the door. Li Mu turned to see a girl from the neighboring dorm peeking in.
"Who’s snoring so loudly?" she asked.
"There," Wang Ruoyan said, pointing at Chen Li’s bed. "Looks like we’re not getting much sleep tonight."
"What happened to her?" the girl asked.
"Graduation party. She drank too much," Wang Ruoyan explained.
The girl from the next dorm didn’t know them very well. After a few words, she gave a helpless smile and left.
Meanwhile, Li Mu was packing her things and calling Yu Fan to ask how Xiao Jing was doing.
