[Vol. 7] Chapter 273: Purity
“I understand, then—”
“!?”
Just as the Headmaster nodded and got ready to leave, her expression suddenly changed. She spun around like lightning!
As if she had sensed something, Violet also turned her silver-blue eyes toward where the princess was lying. Unlike Lucine’s serious and cautious reaction, Violet looked much calmer, even smiling slightly with a hint of joy.
“Heh, looks like she did it. It is coming.”
BOOM!!!!!!!
Before her words had even fully left her mouth, a massive shockwave suddenly burst outward from the ground! It turned into a powerful force that swept up everything in the ruins, rushing forward like a giant wave!
Violet raised her hand, and a golden wall of light appeared in the air in front of her, blocking the blast completely. Lucine quickly stabbed her “Godslayer Spear” into the ground, and her whole body was surrounded by a blood-red glow. She shook a little, but managed to hold her ground.
The others weren’t so lucky. Even though many of them were powerful enough to be called legends of the sky, they were blown away like tumbleweeds. They tumbled through the air, flying along with broken stones, shattered ruins, and all kinds of debris, scattered in all directions!
In that moment, it looked like an invisible ring had exploded outward from a center point, like a giant bulldozer sweeping everything in its path clean.
The pressure in the air became so intense that it formed a circular zone about a hundred meters wide. This invisible space constantly pushed everything away. Anyone without strong enough power was instantly thrown back and couldn’t get close.
This wasn’t caused by magic or any kind of spell. It was a natural law. A force created by the world itself. A miracle that only appears when something truly supernatural arrives.
Ordinary things, even just getting close to this power, would be a huge insult. Only those with divine-level strength or something close to it were worthy of stepping into this space.
At the center of the area that had been "purified," a figure slowly began to float upward. Surrounded by silver light, she gave off a mysterious feeling, as if she came from beyond time and space.
The figure, which had been lying down, was now standing upright in the air, finally stepping onto the empty space itself. Slowly, she opened her eyes, now completely filled with pure silver.
There was no sadness or joy in those eyes, no desire, no anger. It was a gaze that did not belong to any living creature. Something beyond thoughts, beyond understanding. It was something that shouldn't exist in reality, but had taken form because it had merged with its vessel.
[......]
As if naturally drawn to something special, those cold silver eyes stopped wandering and briefly landed on the young girl holding a blood-red spear. Then, they focused on the black-haired girl protected behind a golden barrier.
She opened her mouth, but no sound came out. Perhaps she wasn’t yet used to this physical body, or maybe she didn’t know how to speak at all, like a newborn child.
At that moment, from outside the divine pressure zone, someone shouted in a surprised and happy voice, a voice not belonging to the three figures present in the circle.
“Princess Carinvega! Are you alright?! What… what is going on here...?!”
[......]
She frowned, as if just hearing the voice of a normal human was enough to taint and insult her pure divine body. Instinctively, she raised a hand, lifting one finger, and aimed to punish the blasphemer.
“Wmmm~”
An invisible force of fate flowed out. Even though there was no visible attack, the girl she pointed at, Yir, who had just struggled to get up from the ground, suddenly froze.
But in the next instant, the sparkle vanished from her clear eyes, and she collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
“Junior Sister!!!”
“Sister?! What are you doing?!”
[......]
The foolish mortals still didn’t realize the danger. Their worried thoughts, full of worldly emotion, reached the divine being’s senses, carrying the "dirty" air of mortal concern. That alone seemed to trigger a response, like an automatic rule being activated.
She instantly locked onto all those who had insulted its divine body. The invisible divine power flowed once again as she raised her palm...
But just then, a flawless white staff flew through the air and, without any fancy moves, cut straight through the repelling field around the being and flew directly toward her head!
[......!]
As if she had sensed a threat nearby, her hand, which had just been aimed at Xiluo and the others, suddenly turned and struck toward the black-haired girl in the white robe, who had somehow appeared beside her without warning. A massive wave of invisible force burst forth!
“Whoosh!”
At nearly the exact same moment, a blood-red spear flew in from the distance. Even though it was launched later, she reached first, slamming into the invisible force just in front of Violet!
“Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…!!!”
The weapon known as [Godslayer Spear, Longinus], a weapon of the vampire races, clashed violently in the air with the divine force. Sparks flew everywhere, and a high-pitched grinding noise filled the air. After a brief but intense struggle, the blood-red spear had done its job and was flung backward, while the terrifying force released by the being in a rush was completely worn down and dispersed.
In the next second, the [Eternal Scepter of the World's Heart], glowing with a strange and unknown light, came crashing down without mercy.
“Buzz!!!”
It struck something like an invisible but solid shield, stopping just half an inch from the girl’s head. The impact sent out ripples and strong tremors, and even that floating, indescribable being was forced to drift several meters back under the pressure of such a powerful attack. The shockwave from their clash exploded outward again from the point where their powers collided!
“Fwoooooooosh!!!”
The priestess’s long black hair, sparkling faintly like stars, and her white robe were lifted by the wind, but she remained firm, not taking a single step back while holding her staff. Without even turning her head, she shouted toward the vampire princess who had just caught the returning “Godslayer Spear” and looked like she was ready to help.
“Don’t do anything extra! Get those useless people out of here first!”
As she spoke, Violet waved her staff again. A stream of golden light instantly flowed into the body of [Flying Flower Sword], who had just collapsed. This was a resurrection spell even stronger than [Prayer of Resurrection]. Violet hadn’t fully understood how the girl killed Yir, and she wasn’t even sure if Yir was truly dead, but it didn’t hurt to try.
Only Lucine, who noticed what the priestess had done, had a slight change in her expression. Her pupils narrowed, as if she had gained a deeper understanding of Violet’s true identity. Without hesitation, she waved her sleeve. A red light surrounded all the scattered mortals who had been blown away by the wind and force fields, gathering them together to leave.
“Understood. I’ll soon use the power of the [Tower of Origin] to seal this place and give you support from a distance, but be careful. That thing… seems even stranger than we thought.”
