[Vol. 7] Chapter 301: Inheritance, Accumulation, and Miracles

It seemed Violet quickly understood what was going on, and she gave a small nod.

“I get it. The energy you're talking about must be those Source Crystals collected from the [Morst Underground Labyrinth], right? I’ve been to the deepest part of that maze myself. So this tower really is connected to the [Heart of Creation], isn’t it?”

“But according to what Miss Manager said, Lucine, didn’t you only enter that place about 300 years ago and become the headmaster afterward? This [Tower of Origin] must have already existed back when the academy city was first built, right? The timeline doesn’t match up.”

“That trial I took back then almost killed me several times, I barely survived after trying dozens of times. But the way you talk about it makes it sound like you just strolled through your backyard or something…”

Lucine let out a small, helpless laugh. But after everything that had happened recently, she already understood that this girl in front of her was a complete anomaly, so she didn’t dwell on it. She explained casually.

“Have you ever thought about this? Maybe the development of Sainz wasn’t something that happened all at once. It was a gradual process. In the beginning, this place wasn’t even called the academy city. And out of the so-called Seven Towers, only the very first one, the [Tower of Origin], had just been built. It didn’t have the amazing functions it has now.”

“It was thanks to those… troublesome people of the past, who worked on it bit by bit, improving things over time, pouring in their energy and effort. That’s how we finally reached today’s version of Sainz. All I did was take over the dream they passed down and add my small part to help build this great tower.”

Violet nodded thoughtfully. “Sounds like a really long story…”

She didn’t say anything more. But it was now clear that Lucine had entered the [Morst Underground Labyrinth] 300 years ago, passed the trial, earned the right to make a wish to the [Heart of Creation], brought back part of the Origin’s Power, and became the head of the academy city.

However, that didn’t mean her connection to Sainz only began then.

Maybe, long ago, back when the city was still newly built, this long-lived vampire princess was already involved in its creation. In fact, it was very possible that Lucine was one of the original founders of Sainz. She just hadn’t taken center stage yet, and only later became the famous headmaster she was now.

Whatever the details of that past may be, it was probably a long and complicated story. But that didn’t really matter right now. Violet shifted her attention back to the countless glowing buildings beneath her feet.

“So, what are we supposed to do with all of this? You didn’t summon all these images just to show off, right?”

Lucine nodded slightly.

“Beneath the Sainz, there’s a huge special magic array built using the Seven Towers as the main points. Sainz itself is one big system. The [Eternal Day] Barrier isn’t just for protecting against outside threats. It also holds back the city’s inner energy to keep it from leaking out.”

She pointed toward the metal pillar in front of them, the one shaped like a tower.

“Look at this. It’s one of the functions of the magic array, something generations of Sainz scholars poured their hearts into building. It’s a miracle of magical engineering, far ahead of its time. Right now, I’m controlling it through the interface connected to the [Tower of Origin]. In total, there are six other control pillars like this one in the room.”

“Through these control points, the [Tower of Origin] can connect to, interfere with, support, or even take over the other six towers. That way, Sainz becomes a strong and unbreakable fortress, built for both attack and defense.”

“…But right now, that system is temporarily not working.”

Following Lucine’s directions, the young priestess looked around the white room. In just a moment, she found the six other control consoles that Lucine mentioned. They had just risen into place around the miniature version of the city, and sure enough, they each matched the positions of the other six towers.

However…

The girl walked over to the one closest to her, located near the [Tower of Mystery], where she usually spent most of her time. This console looked almost exactly like the one Lucine was using, just a slightly different color, but its glow was much dimmer. The difference was obvious at a glance, this one was clearly offline.

Without any hesitation or fear, she boldly touched the crystal ball at the top. As expected, whether it was broken or she just didn’t have access rights, it gave no response at all.

The priestess turned around with a slightly confused expression.

“What, are you asking me to fix it? Come on, sure, I kind of understand magic, but only in a very different way. This thing looks super complicated, like some high-level magical tech. How would I even begin to deal with that?”

After all, Violet was the kind of person who couldn’t be bothered to learn how even simple magic locks worked. Whenever she came across one, she’d just smash her way through. If that’s her attitude, then there’s no way she could handle something as huge as the Seven Towers.

But Lucine seemed to have expected that kind of reaction. She just smiled and shook her head.

“Actually, when the Seven Towers were first built, they were designed with an auto-repair system. Powered by the energy from the Origin, as long as they’re not completely destroyed on a physical level, they can slowly fix themselves over time.”

“But this time, we were attacked by [Desecration], and then later the Origin Storm was triggered, smashing it with brute force. That caused the entire system to break down completely. So now we have to step in and manually activate and recharge the towers to get the auto-repair working again.”

“Oh! So basically you want me to pour a bunch of magic into it, right?”

The black-haired girl clapped her hands.

“You should’ve just said so! You’ve been talking in circles this whole time, I thought it was going to be something really serious.”

“…Can you not make it sound so weird? Maybe try acting a little more dignified, like a proper divine being?”

“Pfft, I don’t even have any followers, who would I be dignified for?”

Violet ignored Lucine’s grumbling and got straight to work. She placed her hand back on the crystal ball at the top of the [Tower of Mystery], and began channeling her magic into it.

Seeing her take action, Lucine quickly spoke up to guide her.

“I’ve temporarily opened the access permissions, so you should be able to feel the connection. Just keep feeding it magic steadily. When it reaches full capacity and can’t take in any more, you can stop. It might take quite a lot of energy, so if you get too tired, just take a break. You don’t need to do it all in one go.”

“Yeah, yeah, I got it.”

Violet didn’t have time to answer properly. She just replied casually and closed her eyes, focusing on the flow of magic now connecting her to the [Tower of Mystery], one of the Seven Towers.

The Seven Towers of Sainz were legendary creations, built over a thousand years by countless scholars pouring in their hearts, minds, and resources. They were more than just weapons. They represented the very essence of Sainz’ magical knowledge and history.
