[Vol. 7] Chapter 303: Divine Blood Forged Weapon, The Godslayer Spear
When she heard that name, the headmaster of the academy frowned slightly. It seemed she was a bit sensitive to this kind of topic. But she also seemed to guess, Violet must have brought it up because of what she saw in the vision a moment ago.
After thinking for a moment, she nodded slightly and said,
"That's right. Lady Constantius, the Blood Ancestor, is my mother, the original source of all vampires today. That's why we all use her name as our family name, just like how most other races got their last names."
"As for why I don’t restart the Seven Towers myself… you’ve probably guessed it already. The way I look now is not my true form. A long time ago, I had a normal adult body like Yulia and the others. The reason I became like this… is because of Lady Constantius, or more exactly, because of the Godslayer Spear.”
"That spear is seen as the greatest weapon of our bloodline. Most people think it was a precious gift given to me by the Ancestor Constantius, out of love. But the truth is... that’s not really the case.”
She paused, as if remembering something from long ago. A quiet sigh appeared in her red eyes, as red as blood.
"Longinus, that’s the spear’s name, wasn’t a divine weapon at first. It was just a weapon I made myself after putting in a lot of effort. The reason it became the Godslayer Spear isn't just because of its name, it's because it truly killed a god.”
"I mentioned before, didn’t I? I personally killed a god in the past. That god was the creator of our vampire, my mother, the Blood Ancestor Lady Constantius. When she died, the divine power and authority she had were absorbed into the spear, turning it into something close to a Primordial Artifact."
“Lady Constantius wasn’t a born god. She was one of the most powerful creations of the God of Subversion and Paradox, even stronger than the [Five Reversed Gods]. She had already broken free from that god’s control and was basically no different from a true god.”
“Because of something that happened long ago, Lady Constantius had a disagreement with the God of Subversion and Paradox. She left and started her own path, creating our bloodline as her followers. But because of her special origin, she didn’t have the absolute immortality that true gods have. Still, the divine power and the divinity she had couldn’t be destroyed. So after she died, that power passed into the spear, turning it into what is now called the Godslayer Spear.”
"As one of the children who inherited the most divine blood, I almost reached that godlike level myself. But the power of the Godslayer Spear was too overwhelming. It also carried a bit of Lady Constantius’s anger and curse from the moment she died. After the spear was created, I became much stronger, but I also suffered from its curse."
"Primordial Artifacts contain complete divine laws. They are so powerful that only true gods can truly control them. But gods and such artifacts naturally repel each other, they can’t truly exist together. So throughout history, there have only been two ways to use them. Either a god gives its power to a chosen follower, or a mortal uses the artifact by paying a price."
"Even for me, someone extremely close to god-level, even though the Godslayer Spear isn’t a full Primordial Artifact, the price still couldn't be avoided."
"For over a thousand years, my bond with the spear grew deeper, and I could draw out more of its power. But in return, my body and strength gradually weakened over time, until I became like this."
She explained this deep and complicated story in the simplest way she could. The princess, who now looked like a young girl, smiled and added.
"Of course, thanks to the life power gifted by Lady Sethlin, my condition has at least stopped getting worse, and it's even slowly improving. But because the Godslayer Spear still exists, I don’t think I can ever go back to how I was before."
"With the way my body is right now, if I were to restart the Seven Towers all by myself, it would put a huge strain on me, and might even seriously hurt me. That’s because over 90% of my power is now tied to that divine weapon."
"A Primordial Artifact... created from Constantius... Constantius, the God of Subversion..."
After quietly listening to Lucine explain the whole story, the priestess nodded thoughtfully.
It seemed that the conversation shown earlier through the mysterious vision, whether it happened in the past or the future, probably involved that God of Subversion and Paradox.
The other person in the vision mentioned that name. Maybe it was used as a comparison or example. But even after realizing that, the priestess still couldn’t make much sense of the scattered, unclear conversation.
There just wasn’t enough context. Unless, she could figure out who the other person in the conversation was.
"......"
She shook her head, not wanting to get stuck on that confusing “mystery.” While she continued pouring magic into the core of the tower, Violet was reminded of something else from what Lucine just said, the Primordial Artifacts.
She had already learned about Primordial Artifacts and Law Artifacts, two of the most powerful types of weapons in the world, from Sethlin.
And after inheriting memories from Dawn’s past, Violet now understood their differences and connection even better.
Actually, “Primordial” and “Law” don’t just mean “4-star” or “5-star” weapons like in games. In terms of power, neither type is always stronger than the other.
Sure, Primordial Artifacts are often stronger, but not always. It depends on the concept or idea behind each artifact. How powerful it is, and what rank it holds.
The main difference between the two is this.
Law Artifacts are created by gods. Only the god who made it, or someone chosen by that god, can use it. These weapons are like an extension of the god’s power and the laws they control.
But Primordial Artifacts are like a physical form of a law or rule itself. They’re not made by gods. Instead, they are a natural expression of the world’s laws, aside from spirits or gods.
In simple terms, Primordial Artifacts are god-tier weapons that only mortals can wield. And if a mortal is chosen by the artifact and can use its full power, they could even fight or defeat a real god.
The best-known example of this is the [Sword of Origin], which was made by combining the three holy artifacts of the Holy Empire.
Because gods already control laws, they naturally clash with Primordial Artifacts.
But if a god chooses a hero or a representative, and gives them the artifact and some training, then that person can act as a near-god-level force on their side. It’s a huge advantage for very little cost.
That’s why, even though gods themselves can’t use them, whenever a Primordial Artifact shows up, they all send people to fight over it. The fact that someone like Lucine Constantius exists is proof of that.
But here’s the real problem. Sethlin had clearly said that many of the artifacts the priestess currently holds are Primordial Artifacts.
And Violet could indeed feel some unusual energy, some kind of unique law that was different from either [Radiance] or [Reincarnation] divinities, from her items like the [Eternal Scepter of the World's Heart], the [Feather Robe Graria], and even the [Simulated Kabbalah Tree of Life].
Each item had a special feature that seemed to come from its own law or concept.
Even the [Demon God’s Gem], a sacred-tier artifact she found by chance early on and later repaired, a law belonging to the demon god Olivia.
Normally, this should have clashed with the priestess’s Light-based powers, meaning she shouldn’t have been able to use it.
But in reality, that kind of conflict never happened at all.
