Chapter 124: He Likes When She Calls Her "Big Sister"
Faced with the sudden scolding, Ye Ziming was completely confused. He didn’t even know what was going on.
It all felt so random. In just a short moment, Ye Mengze and Lin Muqing had somehow ended up on the same side.
"She’s not a kid."
Feeling a little embarrassed, Ye Ziming replied calmly.
As for the sudden concern from the older sister, Lin Muqing didn’t really know how to respond. She was at a loss for words.
And when she looked at her good buddy again, she had the strange feeling that she had accidentally caused a conflict between brother and sister. That definitely wasn’t a good thing.
"She’s your girlfriend. Isn’t it your job to take care of her?"
Ye Mengze crossed one arm and used her other hand to gently hold Lin Muqing’s small hand, asking back with a bit of dissatisfaction.
At this moment, Ye Ziming couldn’t help but wonder, is she really his older sister, or is she Lin Muqing’s older sister? That change in attitude was way too sudden. And wait, haven’t they only met a few times?

Ye Mengze accidentally let out a chuckle, then picked up the bowl of ginger tea from the table. After checking its temperature with her hand, she placed it in front of Lin Muqing.
"I’ll drink it myself."
Looking at the ginger tea in front of her, Lin Muqing felt a mix of emotions. She suddenly thought of the super spicy ginger tea she had drunk last night. That stuff was truly scary!
The instant ginger tea packs she had bought online were nothing compared to it. They were like baby versions in comparison.
With both the brother and sister staring at her, she knew there was no way to say no, so she could only brace herself and drink it down.
"Ahhh!"
After gulping it in one go, Lin Muqing actually squeezed out two tears. She stuck out her tongue and shouted up at the ceiling.
She didn’t even need to ask, she already knew that this recipe was definitely taught to Ye Ziming by Uncle Liu. Both were spicy enough to kill!
Seeing Lin Muqing struggle with the spiciness, Ye Ziming quickly took out a few pieces of candy, unwrapped one, and handed it to her to help ease the burn.
Then, he glanced at the bowl that had been placed back on the table. There was still some ginger tea left in it. Frowning a little, he picked up the bowl.
"Is it really that spicy?"
He was a bit doubtful. He remembered adding a lot of brown sugar, so it shouldn’t be that spicy.
"Try it and you’ll see."
After eating the candy, Lin Muqing looked at Ye Ziming with clear dissatisfaction in her eyes.
Under the sunlight, Ye Ziming frowned again, looked down at the bowl in his hand, then raised it and took a sip.
Because Lin Muqing hadn’t managed to finish it due to the spiciness, there was still about one mouthful left, just enough for him to try.
"It’s okay."
He held it in his mouth for a moment and tasted it. Ye Ziming thought it wasn’t bad at all. It didn’t taste very spicy. In fact, he thought it was actually too sweet.
"Wha…"
Now Lin Muqing was the one who felt awkward. She didn’t expect him to actually drink it, and even give it a rating! Wait a second, was it just her who thought the ginger tea was ridiculously spicy?
"Get ready. We’ll head to the hospital in a bit."
Ye Ziming looked over at Lin Muqing with a smile. Then he stood up and carried the empty bowl into the kitchen.
What they needed to do next was to take Lin Muqing to the hospital for a check-up. But before that, they had to get a few things ready, like going downstairs to buy a new pack of sanitary pads.
“Ah! I just remembered something I need to do. Why don’t Ziming go with you to the hospital?”
Watching how the two interacted, Ye Mengze suddenly felt that if she tagged along, she’d just be a super bright third wheel. That thought surprised her again, she was starting to feel a bit envious of how naturally the two got along.
Speaking of which, she, the older sister, was still single.
So basically, in just a few minutes, she had been “force-fed” a whole pile of couple sweetness. It was seriously overwhelming.
“Oh, okay. Bye-bye, Big Sister.”
Seeing that Ye Mengze was about to leave, Lin Muqing politely waved at her and said goodbye, calling her “Big Sister” in the process. But right after she said it, she regretted it. She suddenly remembered what happened last time at the supermarket.
“Such a sweet little sister! If I’m free next time, I’ll take you shopping and get you something yummy.”
To Lin Muqing’s surprise, the moment Ye Mengze heard her say “Big Sister,” she sat back down even though she was already standing up. Then she pulled Lin Muqing into a hug, gently ruffled her hair, and smiled warmly.
It was clear, Ye Mengze really liked her.
Lin Muqing was a bit confused, not sure how to react to the sudden affection. She felt like Ye Mengze was kind of like Sister Yu, or maybe like the other big sisters at the cafe. They all liked to ruffle her hair and seemed to really enjoy it when she called them “Sister.”
“Okay, I’m really leaving now.”
After soaking up enough of Lin Muqing’s “energy,” Ye Mengze finally let go, got up, and walked out. On the way out, she stepped into the kitchen and called out to Ye Ziming.
“Make sure you take good care of Lin Muqing, got it?”
“You don’t need to tell me.”

Even though Ye Ziming didn’t argue with her out loud, her words actually stuck with him.
If he had stopped Lin Muqing from going home last night... would she have avoided getting caught in the rain and then getting sick? That thought lingered.
After Ye Mengze left, the two of them tidied up and went out. Uncle Liu was already waiting with the car downstairs, ready to take them to the hospital. On the way, they also bought a pack of sanitary pads just in case.
Not long after, they arrived at the underground parking lot of the hospital. Then they took the elevator inside. At this point, Lin Muqing was feeling very nervous. She had always been curious and worried about her physical condition.
If possible, she even wished she could “get her little brother back” and be a happy boy again.
“There’s no need to be nervous. It’s just a check-up.”
Ye Ziming gently patted her on the shoulder and gave her a comforting smile.
“Well, you’re not the one getting checked. Of course you’re not nervous!”
Lin Muqing glared at him, puffed out her cheeks, and muttered in a low voice. She was nervous, yes, but also kind of hopeful.
What she cared about the most… was probably her gender. Specifically, whether her last pair of chromosomes included a Y.

“What? Already? You mean the super cute white stockings and JK uniform?”
“Yep. This update was 500MB.”
