Chapter 135: Signing the Rental Agreement
After settling the housing issue, the two of them went back to their own rooms for a midday nap.
“Phew~ This feels pretty nice.”
Back in her room, Lin Muqing looked around once more, then lay down on the bed feeling completely satisfied. This place was way more comfortable than her old room, in every way.
But after the happiness faded, she felt a little sad. To be honest, she was a bit reluctant to leave her current home. After all, she had lived there for so many years.
With that faint feeling of melancholy, Lin Muqing slowly closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
The next time she heard a sound, it was Ye Ziming knocking on her door and calling her to wake up.
“Ah~”
She sat up on the bed, let out a big yawn, and rubbed her eyes.
Still half-asleep, she felt really lazy, like she didn’t want to get up for school. Wouldn’t it be nice if she could just keep sleeping like this?
While she was still trying to wake up, the knocking outside had already stopped.
Just when Lin Muqing thought her good buddy had left after giving up on knocking, the door suddenly opened.
“Wah!”
Maybe her brain was still foggy from just waking up, but the moment she saw her buddy open the door, she instinctively dove back under the covers.
But she quickly realized something was off. Right as she pulled the blanket over her head, she froze in embarrassment.
Wait... what was she doing?
Lin Muqing didn’t even know herself.
“Time to get up for school.”
Standing at the doorway, Ye Ziming raised an eyebrow at her strange reaction. He didn’t get it either, but he thought it was kind of cute.
He didn’t scold her or ask any questions.
He just said that one line and then turned around to go back to the living room.
“Ughhh~”
The fact that her buddy had just seen her act like that, without saying a word, made Lin Muqing feel extra embarrassed.
And when she thought about it carefully, his eyes had a strange look too. Like he was holding back a laugh or teasing her silently.
She grabbed a pillow and buried her face in it to calm down. Only after that did she officially get up and tidy her bed.
When she came out into the living room, Ye Ziming happened to appear right in front of her, holding a sheet of paper and a pen.
“This is the rental contract. If everything looks good, sign your name here where it says ‘Tenant’.”
“Huh?”
Mouth wide open, eyes staring. Lin Muqing was completely caught off guard by Ye Ziming’s move.
His face was super serious, like he really wasn’t joking.
She looked down at the so-called contract and could tell right away it was handwritten. The “three rules” they’d talked about earlier were all listed on it very clearly.
“Is this really necessary…?”

“After signing, you also need to stamp it with your fingerprint. Press your finger here.”

As he spoke, Ye Ziming even pulled out a small red ink pad box for her to use to stamp her fingerprint.
“Uhh… okay then…”
Once again caught off guard, Lin Muqing nodded awkwardly. She skimmed through the so-called contract. It wasn’t very long, it just listed the stuff they had talked about earlier.
So she went ahead, signed her name, and stamped her fingerprint.
Only then did Ye Ziming give a small nod and show a satisfied smile.
Then he carefully folded the contract like it was some kind of treasure, turned around, and put it away in his room, and even hid it.
Lin Muqing blinked slowly and mentally typed out a row of ellipses. She had no idea how to even comment on this.
I mean… would this kind of contract even be legally valid?
And wait a minute, there weren’t even any rules about what happens if she breaks the agreement! Does that mean even if she breaks it, nothing will happen?
Ehehe, she might’ve just found a loophole.
“Boss, I’m ready!”
While her good buddy was off in his room, Lin Muqing didn’t just sit around doing nothing either.
She went to the bathroom, took a quick pee, changed into a new large-sized bandage, then headed to the entryway to change her shoes. After that, she said goodbye to her good buddy, and the two of them left for school.
The afternoon classes passed quickly. Everything went pretty smoothly. Well, except for the sneaky photographer watching them from the shadows.
It looked like Zhang Suxin still hadn’t given up. She showed up near the back door of their classroom almost every day, secretly observing Ye Ziming and Lin Muqing.
“Ugh, boss, what’s wrong with these people? Why are they wasting their time like this?”
During the break, Lin Muqing was tidying up her desk while chatting with her buddy beside her.
Even now, she could still hear rumors floating around. People arguing about whether the top-ranked girl on the campus beauty list was really from their school or not. And why, after so long, no one had managed to find her.
Ye Ziming smiled and glanced at Lin Muqing, but didn’t say anything. He quietly tidied up his desk while listening to her talk.
“Don’t they have homework to do? Or is their phone not fun enough? How can they still be thinking about this nonsense all day long?”
As soon as she finished that sentence, Lin Muqing got more fired up and launched into a mini rant about certain people with too much free time.
Ye Ziming just listened with a light smile. Every now and then, he’d respond with a sentence or nod to show he agreed.
The scene looked so calm and peaceful. So much so that Zhang Xiaoling, watching from nearby, couldn’t help but sigh in frustration.
She suddenly felt like she had already lost. Even before she had a chance to confess.
And she lost to Ye Ziming.
“You want to go talk to him? I can help you if you want.”
Her deskmate, Wang Wenxin, noticed something and leaned over to whisper in her ear.
“No.”
This time, Zhang Xiaoling didn’t panic. She calmly glanced at her deskmate, then turned her eyes back to Ye Ziming and Lin Muqing.
“Don’t be shy! If there’s something you want to do, just tell me. As your bestie, of course I’ll help you!”
With a sly smile, Wang Wenxin reached out and hugged Zhang Xiaoling, leaning in to whisper again.
“You sure?”
Raising an eyebrow, Zhang Xiaoling shot back with a question of her own.
“Of course!”
Wang Wenxin nodded seriously.
“Alright then, I want to see the two of them get married.”
“Leave it to me—Huh?!”
Wang Wenxin’s eyes went wide like she’d just seen a ghost. She looked at her best friend in shock.
Meanwhile, Zhang Xiaoling calmly turned her head and gave her a faint smile.
Her eyes seemed to say, ‘You got this, bestie. I’m counting on you to make my wish come true~’
While the two girls were chatting, Ye Ziming was walking Lin Muqing out of the school as usual, getting ready to head to the café for their part-time job.
When Lin Muqing went upstairs to change clothes, Ye Ziming followed her up and mentioned a few things about the moving plan.
“You’re staying at my place tonight?!”
“Mm-hmm. Just bring a few sets of clothes for now. We’ll call a moving company this weekend for the rest.”
“Uh…”
Looking at her buddy’s calm face, then glancing around her own room, Lin Muqing thought it all felt a little sudden.
But she had to admit. His plan really did make sense, and she couldn’t think of a better one.
So she turned, walked over to her bed, and picked up the cosplay outfit she always wore as pajamas.
Then she paused and quickly put it back down.
Wait a second…
If she brought that outfit, wouldn’t she basically be telling her good buddy she wore girl’s clothes to sleep every day?
No way!
That would totally ruin her “cool tough guy” image!
