Chapter 140: Digging Her Own Pit and Falling Into It

But that wasn’t the end of it. After pulling out a few bags of snacks, Ye Ziming opened another small drawer.

Inside were various colorful little undergarments, all very cute and clearly small-sized. Just like before, Ye Ziming said nothing and started looking through them. Once again, he found a few more hidden snack packs.

“Ughh…”

Even though her private things were being rummaged through, Lin Muqing couldn’t really get angry. When she saw those snack packs she had hidden, not only was she unable to get mad, but she also blushed hard and covered her face with both hands, wishing she could disappear.

She was so embarrassed she didn’t know how to face anyone anymore. She didn’t expect her good friend would actually find them. She had thought if she hid them in those spots, he definitely wouldn’t look there.

“I remember someone saying there were absolutely no snacks in her room,” Ye Ziming said with a smile.

He carefully put the clothes back and stood up with the snacks in hand, walking over to Lin Muqing. He wasn’t really mad, just a bit disappointed. After all, she had promised him that she’d stop eating snacks for a while.

What made it a bit more of a shame was that he had planned to take her to buy some really nice snacks after school today.

“Hmm…”

Still covering her face, Lin Muqing turned her head away, too embarrassed to look at him.

“There are more, right? Want me to guess where they’re hidden?” Ye Ziming said teasingly as he leaned closer and whispered in her ear.

“No! I was wrong, I’m sorry!” she cried, panicking.

Even though her face was covered, she could still see. When she realized Ye Ziming was about to keep searching, she quickly turned around and grabbed his hand to stop him.

A few days ago, she really had promised to quit eating snacks. But while working at the cafe, she saw the older girls enjoying snacks, and she just couldn’t resist. When they offered her some so kindly, she gave in, and that’s how all these snacks ended up hidden in her room.

Now came the awkward part. While she was holding tightly onto her good friend’s arm and stopping him from searching more, she still didn’t know how to explain everything.

“So… how are we going to deal with this?” Ye Ziming asked, raising an eyebrow and looking at her.

He figured she wouldn’t be able to give a good explanation, so he skipped that part and went straight to the next step. It wasn’t that Lin Muqing was too easy to read. It was just that Ye Ziming knew her too well and could predict what she would do.

“I…”

She looked up at him, then lowered her head again, unsure of what to say.

“Hmm?” Ye Ziming softly asked again, patiently waiting for her to answer.

“Just do whatever you want…” she muttered as if giving up.

She had clearly messed up. She didn’t follow through on what she promised, so she decided to just accept whatever happened next. She completely gave in and didn’t plan to resist at all.

“You said it,” Ye Ziming replied, raising his eyebrows slightly.

“I did!” she said firmly.

She, Lin Muqing, wouldn’t go back on her word again. This time, she was absolutely serious!

“Alright, then for the next few nights… you’ll wear this.”

After gently freeing his hands from hers, Ye Ziming walked back to the closet and pulled out a cosplay outfit from one of her favorite artists. He turned around and showed it to her.

Over the past few days, she had insisted on wearing his sleepwear rather than her own, which was more feminine. This had honestly made Ye Ziming a little frustrated.

Although wearing his clothes felt nice, it wasn't really a good long-term solution. The whole point of setting this rule was to help Lin Muqing get used to wearing girls’ clothes. They couldn’t let things go backwards.

“Ah... this…”

When she saw that familiar cosplay outfit, Lin Muqing, who had already mentally given up, suddenly jumped up. Wasn’t that the pajama set she often wore before she moved in?

“I trust you won’t break your word a second time,” Ye Ziming said with a smile as he walked over and gave her a look.

To make sure she wouldn’t "forget" this little agreement, he put the outfit right on her bed, so she’d see it the moment she entered the room.

“Ughhh…”

Lin Muqing suddenly wanted to go back home. She felt like this place was very unfriendly to her.

Problem solved for Ye Ziming, at least.

After that, he had Lin Muqing sit beside him at the new computer desk so they could explore what was special about this new setup. After some time spent figuring things out, Lin Muqing started to feel like maybe this place wasn’t that bad. The computer alone was super impressive.

So, the day went like this: computer exploring in the morning, school and studying in the afternoon, then work at the cafe in the evening (a.k.a. learning makeup).

Eventually, it was nighttime, time to relax, have dinner, and take a shower.

Seeing that Lin Muqing seemed hesitant, Ye Ziming simply walked into the bathroom first without asking, took his shower, then came out to the living room and called out to remind her:

“Don’t forget what you promised.”

As Lin Muqing walked to the balcony to bring in the laundry and head for her shower, Ye Ziming gave her another smile, just to make sure she didn’t forget again.

Her cheeks puffed up, but then she let out a sigh.

She had totally dug this hole for herself, and now had to lie in it. No one else to blame.

“Ughhh…”

She walked to the balcony, brought in her underwear, then turned back to the room to grab the cosplay-style pajamas and made her way to the bathroom.

While she was in the shower, Ye Ziming relaxed on the couch and scrolled through his phone. Just then, a WeChat message popped up from his mom.

[Mom: Son, what are you doing? I haven’t seen you in over two weeks! Mommy misses you! Hug.jpg]

Seeing the cute sticker, Ye Ziming wasn’t surprised at all. His mom had always been like this, over forty years old and still full of girly energy. He replied saying he’d video call her later.

If his guess was right, she was probably asking because of his “girlfriend”. After all, they were planning to visit home next week.

He wondered whether Lin Muqing would get nervous about meeting his parents.

Twenty minutes later, Lin Muqing finally finished her shower and came out wearing the cosplay outfit from her favorite artist.

“…Is there something wrong with this?” she asked.

As she walked toward the couch, she noticed Ye Ziming had been staring at her the whole time, which made her feel awkward.

The light blue short-sleeved shirt and shorts looked simple, comfy, breathable. Honestly, had a ton of good points.

It’s not like I’m wearing a skirt or anything, she thought to herself. This isn’t so bad.

“There’s nothing wrong,” Ye Ziming replied. “I think it suits you really well. You look great.”

When he saw her, he was honestly a bit stunned. She looked so good that he was momentarily caught off guard.

This outfit matched the style of the artist perfectly, and with her soft and cute face, high-schooler Lin Muqing somehow gave off the vibe of a middle-school manga artist.

“It so does not suit me…”

Hearing Ye Ziming’s compliment, Lin Muqing pouted and looked away, her tone a bit awkward.

But deep down, she couldn’t help feeling a tiny bit happy.

And it showed, in her body language.
