Chapter 147: Sweet Sweet Romance Movie
The movie started playing. The story took place at a school, where the silly and innocent female lead nearly showed up late on the first day. In a rush, she accidentally bumped right into the male lead’s arms.
Thanks to a bunch of coincidences, the female lead ended up stumbling her way into the male lead’s world, and perfectly showed what it meant to be a “clueless cutie” who just so happens to be the natural enemy of cool guys.
This girl had no idea how to understand the male lead’s fancy and clever love hints. She couldn’t pick up on the flirtatious clues at all.
In the end, she did manage to win the male lead’s heart, but she still only saw him as a really close friend.
"Hahaha! This guy is so dramatic!"
Sitting cross-legged on the couch with a pillow in her arms, Lin Muqing burst out laughing at a funny scene in the movie.
“And the girl too, he brings her breakfast every day and takes such good care of her, and she still doesn’t get it?”
“Sigh, too young. Seriously, what guy just wants to be a girl’s bestie unless he literally can’t produce hormones?”
“The guy clearly just wants to be with her, right? Don’t you think so, boss?”
Still watching the movie, Lin Muqing gently poked her best buddy’s shoulder while teasing the couple in the film.
“Mm.”
Ye Ziming responded with a soft hum. His eyebrows furrowed slightly, his eyes full of both helplessness and affection.
He actually thought what she said made sense, at least in his case. He really didn’t want to be just a “girlfriend” or “bro” to Lin Muqing.
But… it seemed like she had no idea how much effort he had been putting into taking care of her.
Even after watching this whole movie, she still didn’t seem to get the hint. Ye Ziming wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or not.
The movie kept playing. It was a comedy, and it really made Lin Muqing laugh out loud over and over.
But it was also a love story. After some ups and downs, the female lead finally realized the male lead had liked her all along.
“Waaah~ they kissed!”
At the end of the movie, when the couple finally kissed, Lin Muqing suddenly felt shy. She quickly used her pillow to cover her little face.
She wanted to watch but also didn’t dare to, so she only covered half of her face, two big eyes still peeking out, watching the screen.
To be honest, Lin Muqing couldn’t remember ever kissing anyone before, not even her late parents.
Maybe it had happened when she was a baby, but she couldn’t recall it, so to her, it felt like she’d never experienced it.
By contrast, Ye Ziming looked calm. He sipped a bottle of juice slowly.
“So sweet... Emmm. Why do sweet romances like this never happen to me?”
After the movie, Lin Muqing leaned against the back of the couch and slowly slid into a sideways lying position.
She held a pillow in her arms, curled up her legs to avoid accidentally kicking Ye Ziming.
She looked like a little ball, watching the behind-the-scenes clips play, talking to no one in particular.
Ye Ziming turned his head to look at her, his expression unreadable. It was a very subtle look.
“You want to fall in love?”
He quietly watched Lin Muqing for a moment, then raised his eyebrows and asked with meaning.
“Of course I do.”
She answered right away without even thinking.
“But no one likes me, and I don’t have money, so no love for me.”
After a short pause, she sighed softly, her voice filled with a bit of frustration and sadness.
Ye Ziming couldn’t help but find her words both funny and a little cute. Warm affection naturally rose in his heart.
“Well… you could try dating me.”
He looked away, picked up his juice from the table again, and said it casually, but with a hint of real interest.
Even though Ye Ziming didn’t look directly at Lin Muqing, he was carefully watching her reaction after saying those words, trying not to miss a single little movement.
“Huh? No way, I don’t want to do fencing!”
Lin Muqing’s eyes suddenly widened, her eyebrows raised, and she looked up at her best buddy with surprise. She even thought she might’ve heard him wrong.
To be fair, her best buddy was handsome, rich, and good at everything. He had so many girls who liked him that they could hold hands and circle the entire south part of the city.
But they were best bros! Even rabbits don’t eat the grass near their own nest, how could she possibly mess with her own friend like that?
Also, even though her body had gone through some unexpected changes, in her heart she was still 100% a strong man.
As for “fencing”? That was just something she joked about online. In real life, there was no way she could handle something like that.
“Fencing? Do you even have a sword?”
Hearing her answer, Ye Ziming almost couldn’t stop himself from laughing. She was actually talking about fencing? He glanced down toward her lower half, then smiled and asked back.
“Uh... the sword is in my heart. Having no sword can be stronger than having one.”
Hearing that, Lin Muqing froze for a second. Then she curled up even smaller on the couch. It was super awkward.
But not wanting to look too weak, she still replied with a stubborn comeback.
Ye Ziming laughed again. This person doesn’t even have a sword and still wants to fence with me?
“Someone once said, if she ever turned into a girl, the first thing she’d do is let her buddy have a taste.”
Changing the subject smoothly, Ye Ziming casually touched his chin and repeated something Lin Muqing had said before.
“I don’t think I remembered it wrong.”
With a sly grin, he turned to look at the now-curled-up Lin Muqing, as if he were trying to confirm something.
Right after he said that, her little face turned completely red, and she suddenly panicked.
“Ahhh-yaawn, yawnnn, I’m so sleepy. I really wanna go to bed!”
Putting on an over-the-top act and with a panicked look, Lin Muqing jumped up from the couch and dashed into her room. She moved so fast that even Ye Ziming was a little shocked.
He thought, If she ran this fast during the school fitness test, she’d definitely pass with flying colors.
He smiled quietly at the thought, then started cleaning up the snacks and drinks from the table. After that, he got up to brush his teeth and wash up before going back to his room.
As he stood, he glanced at Lin Muqing’s door and thought about the agreement they had made a few days ago.
He wasn’t like the movie’s male lead, he had already tied Lin Muqing to his side and wasn’t planning on letting her go. In fact, next week, he was even planning to take her home to meet his parents as his girlfriend.
At the same time, inside Lin Muqing’s room, sleep was definitely not happening. She was rolling back and forth on her bed.
“Aaaaah! I’m gonna die from embarrassment!”
After rolling around for a while and screaming into her pillow, she finally calmed down a little.
That moment just now was so embarrassing. How was she supposed to face her best buddy after that?
She really, really didn’t want to “fence”!

And just at that moment, probably because of all the juice she had earlier, Lin Muqing suddenly really had to go to the bathroom.
