Chapter 148: Testing My Good Buddy
After staying in her room for a while longer, Lin Muqing finally couldn’t hold it anymore. When she felt like she was about to wet herself if she waited any longer, she quietly opened the door and snuck out. Luckily, her best bro had already gone back to his room. After finishing her business in the bathroom, she also managed to avoid running into him.
Otherwise, things could’ve gotten real awkward.
Happily returning to her room, she crawled into bed and took off her pants, since she was going to sleep, just wearing underwear was enough. But she didn’t turn off the lights right away, because before sleeping, Lin Muqing planned to scroll on her phone for a bit.

She opened the QQ group chat, sent a message, and started sharing her thoughts about the movie.
While chatting with her online friends, Lin Muqing suddenly remembered her earlier conversation with her good buddy, and some of the scenes from the movie.
“Now that I think about it… my bro takes care of me a lot.”
“He helps me with school, lets me live at his place, buys me clothes, built my computer, cooks for me…”
Her fingers paused mid-scroll. Her face slowly turned awkward… then into shock.
“Wait… was he not joking earlier?!”
The more she thought about it, the scarier it felt. Come to think of it, her relationship with her buddy… kinda matched the romantic leads in that movie. If that’s the case, then…
“Could it be… he’s into me?!”
“So when he wanted to see me wear skirts and girl clothes… that was all because of that?!”
Lin Muqing curled up under her blanket in a panic. Her lower body tightened suddenly, she felt like staying here might not be safe anymore. She didn’t have her “sword” anymore, so if her bro really wanted to fence… she’d be the one getting stabbed!
As if right on cue, someone in the group chat sent a bunch of lewd pics, the kind where a cute anime girl is pinned to the bed, clearly mid-“clap clap clap” action.
“Waaahhh!”
Eyes wide, face bright red, Lin Muqing threw her phone aside and dove under the covers. Believe it or not, she actually got scared by those lewd images.
Why? Because the moment she saw them, she instinctively imagined herself as the girl in the pic… and then pictured her best bro being the one on top. That weird image stuck in her head the whole night. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t stop her brain from playing out those scenes again and again.
The next morning, Lin Muqing got out of bed in a complete daze.
“Mmm~”
Her brain was still fuzzy. She sat on her bed, swaying left and right, eyes half-open. Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Ye Ziming was watching videos while preparing a healthy breakfast for her.
Before she fell asleep last night, she had one last thought, her good buddy had been taking care of her since the first year of high school. Back then, she was still a boy, so it wasn't exactly like the movie plot.
Still, she wasn’t completely sure whether her bro really had those kinds of feelings for her. So today, Lin Muqing decided she’d try to test him a little.
Thinking of this plan, she groggily got out of bed, groggily left the room, and groggily made her way to the bathroom.
“Morning, boss.”
She happened to pass Ye Ziming as he walked out of the kitchen, so she casually greeted him.
Still half-asleep, Lin Muqing didn’t realize… that her pants were still lying on the floor back in her room. She was not wearing them.
“Morning.”
Ye Ziming placed the dishes on the table and casually replied to her greeting. A few seconds later, he looked up at her, and his eyes widened in surprise. Clearly, he hadn’t expected Lin Muqing to be so bold and open.

His gaze changed a few times in quick succession. Once Lin Muqing went into the bathroom, he finally looked away.
He thought, ‘Well… not bad at all. We’re at home anyway. And I’m the only one who gets to enjoy the view.’
Since Lin Muqing was acting so calm, Ye Ziming didn’t feel the need to be surprised either, so he simply chose to quietly enjoy this little “bonus.”
“Eh? Where are my pants?”
Inside the bathroom, after brushing her teeth and washing her face, Lin Muqing walked over to the toilet, ready to pee, when she suddenly realized something was wrong.
This was kind of embarrassing… She just said hi to her best buddy, right?
That means he probably saw her?
“I wonder what he thought when he saw me like that…”
While sitting on the toilet, Lin Muqing suddenly came up with a clever idea.
Since she wanted to test her best buddy, why not just walk out wearing only her panties and see how he reacts?
It was a simple and fast way to test him. She thought it was a great plan and decided to give it a try right away.
“Hey, big bro, what are we having for breakfast today?”
Leaning against the kitchen doorway, Lin Muqing looked into Ye Ziming’s eyes and asked softly.
To be honest, she was really nervous. She was afraid that he might actually react to her appearance, that would mean he really did want her.
If that happened, she’d leave immediately and move back to her own place.
To protect her purity!
“Nutritious porridge,” he replied calmly.
He held a ladle in his left hand and his phone in the right, watching a cooking video. After checking the time, he quickly added the final ingredient to the pot and gave it a gentle stir.
Since he was focused on cooking, he only turned his head to look at Lin Muqing a moment after replying.
When he saw the familiar blue-and-white panties again, Ye Ziming stayed perfectly calm.
You could tell right away that he was someone who had ‘seen it all before.’
“What’s up?”
Seeing Lin Muqing still standing in the doorway staring at him, Ye Ziming asked curiously.
“N-nothing.”
She quickly stood up straight, gave him an awkward smile, then turned and walked back to her room.
Letting out a small sigh of relief, Lin Muqing noticed that her best buddy’s reaction had been really normal. He hadn’t even looked at her first, so that meant there was nothing to worry about. There’s no way he wanted to “fence” with her or anything like that!
She had clearly been overthinking it.
“?”
Watching Lin Muqing leave, Ye Ziming could tell she seemed to be in a pretty good mood.
He had no idea what had just happened, but shrugged and turned back to the stove.
He checked the porridge and then covered it with a lid to let it simmer.
Meanwhile, Lin Muqing walked happily back to her room, picked up her shorts from the floor, put them on, and went back to the living room. Now she just sat quietly on the sofa, waiting for breakfast.
Since they started living together about a week ago, they’d taken turns cooking pretty equally.
After all, Lin Muqing had lived alone for a year. If she didn’t have some basic cooking skills, she would’ve starved by now.
Compared to her, Ye Ziming didn’t have much experience. Most of the time he had to learn from cooking videos as he went.
