Chapter 151: Are You Cheating on Me in Front of My Face?
After calming down earlier, Lin Muqing sneaked off to the bathroom during a break and looked through some pictures on her phone. She found that, surprisingly, she still really enjoyed them. That made her realize she hadn’t “switched teams”, she was still very much into guys.
White stockings, shy cute girls… Lin Muqing thought they were great! She even wanted to keep looking. Now, when she was introducing her "wife" to her good buddy, she had that kind of mood, like she wanted to prove something.
After hearing Lin Muqing’s introduction, Ye Ziming smiled silently, a gentle look of amusement flickering in his eyes.
Then, he suddenly reached out and grabbed her hand, pulling her to his side.
“You’re introducing someone else as your wife… right in front of me? Are you cheating on me or something?”
As he spoke, a faintly dangerous aura came from him. His eyes narrowed slightly, staring straight into Lin Muqing’s. His words sounded playful, and he was even smiling, but somehow, the pressure he gave off was real.
Facing that gaze, Lin Muqing instantly lost all her confidence. She quickly shut her mouth and tried to inch away.
“Hehe… no way, that’s not it,” she said while awkwardly wiping imaginary sweat from her forehead.
“Really?” Ye Ziming raised a brow, clearly not convinced, and gave her a teasing smile.
“Of course, really!” Lin Muqing nodded quickly and blinked her eyes sweetly.
At that moment, she didn’t realize something important had just "fallen off" her… If you put the shattered pieces back together, you might barely make out the word “dignity.”
“Mhm.” Ye Ziming nodded with satisfaction.
But things weren’t over yet. He wanted to take this opportunity to remind Lin Muqing clearly that she was his girlfriend. So next, the two of them played a little “pretend couple” game.
When it was over, Ye Ziming confidently strode out of the room, while Lin Muqing collapsed on the bed with a red face, looking completely drained, as if she’d been totally overwhelmed.
“Wuwuwu… Why did I have to bring up the whole ‘wife’ thing…”
Lying on the bed, she sobbed inside her heart, talking to the empty room.
She hadn’t expected Ye Ziming to take it so seriously. Weren’t they just pretending to be a couple?
But Ye Ziming had said, since she already accepted his gifts, she had to take full responsibility and “act” properly in the couple role. Honestly, thinking about it made her want to cry. She was the one who agreed to this in the first place, and now she couldn’t argue her way out of it.
Fortunately, after two small tests that morning, she was sure that Ye Ziming didn’t have any inappropriate thoughts about her, otherwise she might have exploded on the spot.
After lying on the bed for a while, she finally recovered. She grabbed her favorite hug pillow and cuddled it tightly.
“Mmm… my wife is still the softest.”
While snuggling with her “wife” pillow, Lin Muqing sighed softly.
Thankfully, Ye Ziming didn’t hear that line, or who knows what he would’ve done, maybe even try to “get rid of the rival” or do something to really make her understand that she’s a girl.
The weekend continued. After finishing her homework, Lin Muqing also insisted on cooking, making three delicious homemade dishes. Thanks to online learning, a year of experience in the kitchen, and a little bit of natural talent, her cooking skills had completely surpassed Ye Ziming’s.
“Hmph, hmph! How’s that? Not bad, huh?” she said proudly.
With her hands on her hips, still wearing her apron, Lin Muqing stood proudly by the dining table, raising her chin to show off her cooking to her best bro. At this moment, you could imagine her with a meme that says: “Hands on hips, I’m just too awesome.jpg.”
After losing twice in a row earlier today, Lin Muqing was determined to make a comeback, and she finally did it with this meal. It proved that she was still amazing.
“Not bad at all,” Ye Ziming nodded after tasting all three dishes, giving her a thumbs up.
But here's the thing, if Lin Muqing is such a good cook and knows how to balance meat and vegetables, why is she still suffering from poor nutrition? Ye Ziming figured the problem must be all those snacks she keeps eating.
“Hehe~”
Getting praised, Lin Muqing grinned proudly, then grabbed two bowls and started serving rice so they could eat.
What she didn’t realize was, this dinner she had put so much effort into didn’t bring the results she had hoped for. Instead, it actually caused more trouble for herself. What she had wanted was to earn more snacks and also to have a bit of an upper hand over her best bro.
By upper hand, she meant winning in terms of presence or status at home, not that kind of “upper hand.”
The weekend passed quickly, and then Monday came around.
Because they were both lazy and the uncle living next door liked waking up early to make breakfast, the two of them often went over to eat with him. After breakfast, they’d go to school together. Life was peaceful and easy.
When they got to the classroom, Lin Muqing was surprised Lin Wenbin was finally back at school!
“Wow, lucky! You skipped school for so many days!”
It had been a while since she saw Lin Wenbin, and even though she “missed” him (with a joking tone), she immediately started teasing him the moment she sat down.
She hadn’t forgotten that Lin Wenbin’s dad had asked her to help keep an eye on him and make sure he studied well. Since they were classmates (and she was paid for it), of course, she had to do her job and be Lin Wenbin’s dad’s “eyes” at school.
“Lucky my butt, I nearly died!”
Hearing Lin Muqing’s teasing, Lin Wenbin was stunned for a second. After a moment, he realized she was talking to him. He put down his phone, glared at her with frustration, then turned back and kept playing on his phone.
“Pfft—”
Seeing his grumpy reaction, Lin Muqing couldn’t help but laugh. “That’s so like him,” she thought.
Since he wasn’t talking to her anymore, she turned her attention back to her homework and casually chatted with Ye Ziming. Life was still nice and chill.
But what she didn’t know was—two big things were going to happen at school today.
First, Lin Wenbin’s old “Knight Club” wasn’t fully disbanded yet. He was secretly contacting his former members by phone, planning to rebuild it behind the scenes.
Second, in the classroom next door, Zhang Suxin’s class, a new transfer student arrived today.
Her name was Fei Xun, and on her very first day, she made a bold announcement: she was going to pursue the school’s number one “prince”—Ye Ziming.
Lin Wenbin was the first to hear about it. Soon after, even Lin Muqing, who usually didn’t care about gossip, found out.
“Good luck,” she said calmly, giving a thumbs-up with zero emotion on her face.
As for the whole “declaration of love” thing, she just wanted to say.
‘Really? Can’t we get something more original? This plot twist has been overused to death.’
