Chapter 159: Meeting the Parents

With a small backpack on her back and holding her good buddy’s hand, Lin Muqing walked up to the front door of a big villa.

She didn’t mind holding his hand, but thinking about how she was about to meet Ye Ziming’s mom and dad made her nervous. She tried to pull her hand away. Just as they reached the door and before Ye Ziming could even raise his hand to knock, the door opened from the inside.

Right after that, they saw Ye’s mom standing in the doorway, smiling brightly at the two who had finally arrived home.

She was wearing a light pink house outfit and pink slippers. Even though she was the wife of a wealthy family, she didn’t act proud at all. In fact, she looked very kind and friendly.

“Aiya, you’re finally back. Come in, come in!”

She looked at her son, then at the cute girl he was holding hands with, and her smile grew even wider. She quickly stepped aside to let them in and urged them to come inside. Then she started checking Lin Muqing out more carefully.

“Hello, Auntie,” Lin Muqing greeted her politely after getting over her surprise at seeing her.

“Good, good! You must be hungry after such a long car ride. There’s still some food left in the kitchen. I’ll go heat it up for you.”

Hearing that soft and polite greeting made Ye’s mom even happier. She smiled warmly and turned to head to the kitchen.

After she left, Lin Muqing let out a breath of relief and instinctively turned to look at her good buddy, thinking, ‘I think that went okay, right?’ She was really glad he had held her hand just now. Without that, she wouldn’t have known what to say when Ye’s mom greeted her so warmly.

“You wear these.”

Ye Ziming said as he led her into the entryway. He took out a new pair of pink slippers from the shoe cabinet and placed them in front of her. Then he started changing into his own slippers and put both of their shoes into the cabinet.

“Boss, your mom is so young and pretty. I almost thought she was your sister at first.”

After putting on the slippers and following him into the living room, Lin Muqing leaned close to his ear and whispered.

She had almost called her “sister” out loud, but luckily, she had looked into her good buddy’s eyes just in time and realized this must be his mom. Ye’s mom really did look a lot like Ye Mengze. Well, they were mother and daughter, after all.

But there was something strange. Normally, a mom would look like an older version of her daughter. But in this case, that didn’t really apply. Ye Mengze gave off a mature, cool vibe, like a big-sister type. But Ye’s mom had a youthful, girly style.

Lin Muqing thought that was really impressive.

“You’ll get used to it,” Ye Ziming said with a quiet smile.

He wasn’t surprised by her comment, she wasn’t the first person to say that.

Just as Lin Muqing looked like she wanted to whisper something else, Ye Ziming gently squeezed her hand and glanced over to the side. Only then did Lin Muqing realize, there was someone else sitting on the sofa in the living room, and that person was staring right at her.

“Uh…”

Awkward.

Judging by the amused look on the woman’s face, Lin Muqing had a strong feeling she had overheard everything she just said.

Sitting on the sofa was a young woman who looked to be around the same age as Ye’s mom, but with a more mature, elegant vibe, more like the big-sister type.

She was also very beautiful and dressed in a long white dress. She was holding a magazine in her hand and smiling as she looked at them from the couch.

“Haha~ What a sweet little mouth. So, are you going to call me sister too?”

The woman put down the magazine, laughed softly to herself, then raised an eyebrow and teased Lin Muqing with a playful question.
