Chapter 165: Crossing the Line Means Getting Your Butt Spanked
“Yeah, I met him once a few years ago.”
When she heard the question from Mother Ye, Meng Yue thought for a moment and remembered meeting that Taoist priest at another temple two years ago.
“Do you know where he is now?”
Mother Ye’s eyes lit up, and she quickly followed up with another question.
“I’m not sure,” Meng Yue replied. “When I met him back then, I just told him briefly what had happened.”
Over ten years ago, Meng Yue had been traveling and happened to pass by a Taoist temple. He decided to try some fortune-telling to see if it could help him have a daughter. Coincidentally, Mother Ye was also on a trip and ended up going to the same temple at the same time.
With all these coincidences happening together, the Taoist priest gave them a pair of jade pendants and said they were meant for their future child.
(Note: “Gave” doesn’t mean “for free.”)
That priest was really something, he pointed out on the spot that Meng Yue was already pregnant, just a couple of weeks in. They checked after returning home, and it turned out to be true. You know, if you don’t go to the hospital for a special check-up, it usually takes about 40 days to detect pregnancy using a test strip.
After receiving the jade pendants, Meng Yue had a strong feeling that the baby was a girl, and even the doctors said so. But somehow, she ended up having a boy. Later, that younger son went missing, which made Meng Yue feel angry when she saw the Taoist again.
“You didn’t hit him, did you?” Mother Ye asked nervously, surprised by what she was hearing.
“No, of course not. Why would I hit him?” Meng Yue answered, sounding a bit annoyed.
Even now, Meng Yue still didn’t like that Taoist priest, feeling that he had tricked her.
The only reason she didn’t hit him was because, just before she was about to lose her temper, the priest said that within three years, she would find her missing son. He even promised that if that didn’t happen, she could do whatever she wanted with him.
But guess what? He disappeared that same month. It was like he vanished into thin air, even the police couldn’t find him.
Thinking about it now still made her grind her teeth in frustration. To her, that Taoist was just a con artist pretending to be something special!
She couldn’t believe she had actually trusted his nonsense back then. Now it had been over two years, almost three, and still no news.
“Don’t be mad, don’t be mad. My son wants to find him anyway. When we do, we can settle the score,” Mother Ye said as she tried to calm Meng Yue down and handed her some juice.
“Your son’s looking for him?” Meng Yue asked, surprised. She took the juice and drank a sip to cool off.
“Yeah, but I don’t really know why. He said it has something to do with the jade pendant.”
“You mean that pendant?”
“Yep, I had him wear it all the time since he was little.”
The two continued chatting and watching a movie.
It was a bit strange, everything that Taoist priest told Mother Ye back then had actually come true. That’s why she had made Ye Ziming keep the pendant with him. But not wanting to upset her best friend any further, she quickly changed the topic to something more cheerful. How to tell Lin Muqing about the idea of recognizing her as a daughter.
As soon as the topic changed, Meng Yue forgot all about the frustrating stuff and her mood brightened up again.
It was obvious that, right now, to Meng Yue, Lin Muqing’s situation was more important than anything else.
………………………………………
The next morning, in Ye Ziming’s room.
They had been riding in a car for several hours the night before and didn’t go to bed until almost dawn, so both of them slept in.
They were so tired that they didn’t even notice one of the blankets had fallen to the floor—or the light blue pair of shorts lying next to it.
After a while, Lin Muqing, feeling the “water reservoir” in her body was full, began to shift around and slowly opened her eyes.
She had slept so well that it felt like every cell in her body had completely relaxed.
The only thing that wasn’t perfect… was her hug pillow. It seemed like someone had replaced it. It was hard and not soft at all.
“Eh!?”
Suddenly, a thought popped into Lin Muqing’s head—wait a minute, she wasn’t at home right now, which meant… her hug pillow wasn’t with her.
Then what was she hugging at this moment?
The more she thought about it, the scarier it felt. Lin Muqing’s eyes flew open in shock, and she quickly looked up.
Oh~ it was just her good buddy. Okay, no big deal then.
But then… came the truly awkward part.
Just one quick look was enough to tell. It was her who had cuddled up first and even climbed into his blanket. How did that even happen? Lin Muqing had no idea how she ended up like this. She just woke up and—boom—here she was.
“You’re awake?”
Just as Lin Muqing finally calmed down a little and was trying to quietly move away from her good buddy, Ye Ziming suddenly opened his eyes.
Unlike her, Ye Ziming had already been awake for a while. He just didn’t move because he didn’t want to wake the little cutie.
How did he know she was having a good dream? Because the shoulder area of his shirt was already wet with some unknown liquid.
“Uh…”
The moment she heard his voice, Lin Muqing froze up a little. Then she slowly lifted her head and looked at him again.
Super embarrassed, but she didn’t just freeze there. She quickly let go of his hand, pulled back the leg that had been resting on him, and scooted away to put some distance between them.
“Boss… I think this is a misunderstanding.”
Lin Muqing’s face turned slightly red from embarrassment. She pulled the blanket up to cover herself, leaving only her big eyes showing as she looked at him.
“Mhm. Go ahead and explain, make your excuse.”
Ye Ziming gave her a small smile, just calmly looking at her.
“Heh…”
Lin Muqing froze again. Her eyes turned panicked, because she really didn’t know how to explain this.
If she remembered correctly, anyone who crossed the line would get three smacks on the butt.
And she was the one who came up with that rule.
“Please let me explain…”
Ye Ziming, still very patient, smiled and spoke again.
“Ughhh…”
Even though her good buddy didn’t say much, just stared at her quietly, his calm expression already said a lot, and it made her feel more and more embarrassed, like she wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear.
After being frozen on the bed for a bit, Lin Muqing finally realized she couldn’t escape this time.
Blushing hard, she laid flat on the bed and stuck her butt up, ready to take the punishment.
Oh, one thing that hadn’t been mentioned yet. Lin Muqing didn’t like sleeping with pants on, it felt uncomfortable. She had figured it would be fine since they weren’t sharing a blanket, so she quietly took them off, thinking her good buddy wouldn’t notice.
What she didn’t expect was that when she woke up, not only were they under the same blanket, they were super close together too.
“?!”
Ye Ziming raised an eyebrow in surprise and widened his eyes as he looked at Lin Muqing with her butt in the air, ready to be punished.
Blue and white underwear. Kinda cute.
“Hurry up. I need to go to the bathroom.”
The pause made Lin Muqing a little annoyed, so she turned her head and rushed him.
“Alright.”
At first, he didn’t really want to hit her, but after hearing her say that, he couldn’t hold back anymore. And so—smack, smack, smack—three clean swats landed.
To be honest, it actually felt pretty good.
So much so that even after the three smacks, Ye Ziming kind of wanted to give a few more.
