Chapter 205: The Bride I Dreamed Of
“If Miss Evelia really needs a wedding dress, then no problem!”
Seeing how serious Evelia looked, Anna also became serious. She first had Rachel and Evelia sit down on the sofa, then went off by herself to a small storage room where she kept clothes. No one knew exactly what she was doing inside. Maybe she was looking for some samples?
“Miss Evelia, is this your child?”
At that moment, the writer Clund, who had been silent the whole time, poked his head out from a pile of manuscripts. His dark blue short hair looked almost as if it had been dyed by ink from the pens.
“Yes, this is my daughter, Rachel.”
Evelia picked up Rachel, who had been sitting to the side, and placed her on the sofa closer to Clund, almost like she was presenting a product.
“Ah, she really is pretty cute. Hello there, little one, my name is Clund.”
Clund had overheard a lot of casual talk when Evelia visited before, so he already knew that Evelia now had an adopted daughter named Rachel.
Even though Rachel had never talked to Clund face to face before, she had been described by Evelia during their chats. So Clund had imagined what she might look like, and now that he saw her in person, he felt she was even more beautiful than he had imagined.
“Hello, Uncle Clund~”
“Uh… haha… hello…”
When he heard Rachel call him “Uncle,” Clund’s expression clearly froze in awkwardness. Then he looked down sadly. After all, he was only in his early twenties, yet this little girl had already called him “Uncle.” He felt like his tired, sleep-deprived mind was starting to fall apart.
Not only did he have to write Anna’s personal manuscript, but he also had to keep working on his unfinished side story. Even though Anna wasn’t rushing him too much, he still felt a bit guilty about eating her food and living in her house while dragging things out.
So all he could do was scramble to meet deadlines while trying to come up with new story ideas.
‘Sigh… Is it because I’ve stayed up too many nights and started looking old? Why did she call me Uncle…?’
Rachel didn’t seem to care at all about what she had said. She just continued playing the role of a sweet child in front of strangers.
She normally wasn’t good at acting, but after spending so much time around Evelia and Armand, both sharp-eyed people, she had naturally learned how to fake it well.
Her innocent and harmless expression was so perfect that it could be called a master performance. If there were scores for acting, even Evelia, the kind of person who genuinely had no idea what she was doing, would have to admit defeat.
—Whoosh!
Just as Rachel was looking down at the colorful snacks on the table, trying to decide which flavor to eat first, Anna pulled open the curtain to the back room. Then she peeked her head out and looked at Evelia, who was still sitting there quietly.
Because Evelia’s face was so delicate and pretty, when she sat still, she really looked like a porcelain doll.
Maybe because she was so flawless, she sometimes gave off a fragile feeling, like she was something so perfect that it should be broken on purpose. It was as if the more beautiful something is, the more it should be stained with despair and sadness.
“Tada! Miss Evelia!”
But the people around her didn’t want her to go down that path.
“These are all made for you!”
She was everyone’s friend, so of course they would help her.
“W-wow…”
Rachel stared at the wedding dresses in shock. She was so surprised that she couldn’t even say anything else.
Right now, in front of Evelia, stood a wardrobe. Inside it, every single piece, was a wedding dress that Anna had made for Evelia. Because Anna had been waiting for this day for a long time, hoping Evelia could find her own happiness.
Maybe some people would wonder, ‘Is she doing all this because she has some hidden motive? They’re just friends, why go this far?’
—It’s exactly because she’s my friend!
That’s what Anna would definitely say.
—Think about it, I have money, I have time, I know how to make clothes, and I’m good friends with Miss Evelia. Isn’t it completely normal for me to make her some wedding dresses? For a girl, the most important outfit in her life is her wedding dress. And since I work in fashion, I don’t have to worry about wasting materials or losing money. So of course I’d do this for Miss Evelia!
Anna had always felt that Evelia had a kind of “makes-you-want-to-protect-her” vibe. Even though she often kept people at a distance, with her cold face and few words, everything about her gave off a quiet feeling of wanting to be close to someone.
It was like she was trapped inside a glass case, forced to be the most delicate decoration inside it.
Anna didn’t mind being the hammer that would “shatter Miss Evelia’s glass case.” Because she ran a clothing shop, after all.
She was a fashion designer who worked hard to help everyone become the beautiful person they dreamed of being.
And most importantly, she was rich.
So, she could do whatever she wanted. If she wanted to make something, she made it. If she wanted to give something, she gave it. That was Liliana’s simple and honest way of life.
“All of these are wedding dresses?”
Evelia clearly hadn’t seen anything like this before. But maybe because it was new to her, she didn’t look nearly as shocked as Rachel, who was excited to watch, or Clund who was just feeling down a moment ago.
“That’s right, Miss Evelia. After I made that custom dress for you last time, I remembered your size. So I made these wedding dresses based on your measurements. I just knew you’d need one soon! Hehe~ I mean, getting invited by the commander, the guy who never talks to women, must mean your relationship is something special~”
Anna stood with her hands on her hips, looking proud and confident.
Although these dresses were still samples and only half-finished, they just needed a little more time to be touched up. But the fact that her guess “I knew you two would end up together!” was right made her feel very proud and happy for Evelia.
“Is that so?”
But Evelia didn’t seem to realize anything.
She had no idea how attractive she really was, to someone like Armand.
“Of course! I knew you two were meant to be. Alright, Miss Evelia, pick the design you like best and I’ll do the final adjustments. When the time is right, just tell me and I’ll send it straight to your estate! If you want, you can even tell me the commander’s size, and I’ll send a matching outfit too!”
As she said this, Anna suddenly smacked her forehead like she just remembered something.
“Ah—right! Before the wedding, there’s also the engagement party! I’ll design a whole new outfit for you. And don’t forget the bachelorette night! And after the wedding, for your first night. I’ll design you a set of killer lingerie that no man could ever resist!”
“Killer lingerie?”
Evelia looked at Anna in confusion, while Rachel, sitting nearby, frowned and silently wondered what exactly Anna was teaching her.
“That’s right! It’s the kind you wear during… that time~ You’ll understand when the time comes. Anyway, it’ll be super sexy and easy to take off~”
Hearing Anna’s strange tone, Evelia paused for a second. “…Okay. I understand.”
—Understand what?!
Rachel looked at Evelia, who was being completely serious, and screamed inside her heart.
Anna! Stop corrupting our silly little one!!
