Chapter 99: Watching the Show
“Re… Report!”
After washing up, Lin Muxi rushed to the classroom door in a panic. She felt guilty and didn’t dare to look up at the teacher.
If it were her old class, not to mention skipping a class, even if she stayed in the library the whole day, no teacher would care. But now, facing a new teacher, she still felt a lot of pressure. After all, first impressions are very important. No matter what, she couldn’t let the teacher dislike her.
“Come in quickly.”
Seeing Lin Muxi standing at the door, the teacher waved kindly at her. Only then did she nervously run back to her seat. Even though she was worried, nothing bad happened, so she finally felt relieved.
“Sister Lin, how did you sleep until now?” Before she even sat properly, Yu Xiaoxiao eagerly leaned her head over to ask.
“I… emmm.”
Lin Muxi was speechless at the question. How long she slept wasn’t something she could control. If anyone was to blame, it was her stupid boyfriend who didn’t wake her up.
Seeing Lin Muxi stammering and not knowing what to say, Yu Xiaoxiao covered her mouth and laughed.
“What are you laughing at…? What’s so funny?”
Lin Muxi glared at her angrily. It seemed that this girl also didn’t wake her up in the morning and just went off to class alone.
Noticing the blame in Lin Muxi’s eyes, Yu Xiaoxiao scratched her head awkwardly and said apologetically.
“Actually, I thought about waking you up this morning… but Mo Ziyang told me to let you sleep a bit more, so I went to class.”
“It’s fine… I could pretty much guess that.” Lin Muxi waved her hand and sighed, resting her head on the desk.
Seeing this, Yu Xiaoxiao finally let out a breath of relief. Once she was sure Lin Muxi had forgiven her, she took out a stack of practice papers and put them on the desk.
But after writing for a while, she noticed that Lin Muxi was still lying on the desk, looking tired and without energy at all. With exams coming soon, Yu Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but worry.
“Sister Lin, shouldn’t you also be doing some practice questions?”
“Uhh… I already know them. I don’t want to practice.” Lin Muxi brushed her off in a low voice.
But even though she said that, when she thought about what Mo Ziyang and Yu Xiaoxiao had said yesterday, she lazily sat up and randomly picked one of Yu Xiaoxiao’s papers to start working on.
Yu Xiaoxiao sighed again as she watched her half-hearted attitude.
When exactly did Sister Lin become like this…?
The answer was obvious, she became like this after she started dating Mo Ziyang. Thinking back to the old Sister Lin, who fought for every second to study, Yu Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but miss it. At the same time, she wondered, can falling in love really change a person this much?
Just like that…
The day went by, and Lin Muxi managed to finish more than ten practice papers, though half-heartedly.
When the final class ended and the bell rang, she put down her pen and instantly sat up straight, looking full of energy again. Her sudden burst of life even startled Yu Xiaoxiao.
“Sister Lin, why are you so excited? Do you have an activity later?” she asked curiously.
“Hm?” Lin Muxi turned her head when she heard the question. “No, I just thought that it’s almost the weekend, so I can go out and play again. That makes me a little happy.”
Looking at Lin Muxi’s eager expression, as if she couldn’t wait to run out of the classroom, Yu Xiaoxiao felt speechless.
You call that ‘a little happy’…?
In the classroom, as the teacher finished writing the last formula on the board, it officially meant class was over.
[Lin Muxi: Mo Ziyang, are you done with class?]
[Lin Muxi: I’m in the classroom, come quickly.]
[Lin Muxi: I’ve been doing practice questions all day, I’m so tired.]
Before the teacher even left the classroom, Lin Muxi couldn’t wait to send a message to her good bro.
[Mo Ziyang: Okay, I got it.]
Not long after the teacher left, a handsome figure appeared at the door of Yu Xiaoxiao’s class.
“Sister Lin, are you getting ready to go home?” Seeing Mo Ziyang walk in, Yu Xiaoxiao turned to ask Lin Muxi.
“Yeah, what else? You think I’m going to sleep at school?”
Lin Muxi stood up, packed her things, said goodbye to Yu Xiaoxiao, and ran happily to Mo Ziyang. She lifted her head to look at her good bro with a bright smile.
She had been holding herself back in the classroom all day just for this moment.
“Looks like you did pretty well today.” Mo Ziyang rubbed her head gently with a doting smile.
And it was true, except for the morning, this silly girl actually did okay today. She even went to the library with Yu Xiaoxiao at noon instead of going back to the dorm to nap.
“Of course! Don’t you know who your good bro is?” Lin Muxi said proudly, puffing out her chest just a little.
Standing in front of him like that, she looked as if she was begging for praise.
So Mo Ziyang didn’t hold back. He leaned down slightly and whispered.
“Alright, alright. I knew my Lin Muxi is the best. Tonight I’ll take you to eat something tasty.”
“Who’s your Lin Muxi…”
Hearing that, her face instantly turned red.
Even though she was happy inside, she still had to act stubborn. Otherwise, it would feel like she was letting her good bro control her, and that was too embarrassing.
“It’s fine, you’ll be mine in the future anyway.”
Mo Ziyang chuckled, watching the silly girl act tough with her “hard mouth.”
After joking around, he pulled Lin Muxi into his arms and stood to the side.
Before Lin Muxi could ask what was going on, another familiar figure appeared at the classroom door.
“Xiao Luyu…?”
Seeing him, Lin Muxi was surprised. For a moment, she couldn’t figure out why he had come to their class.
But the next second, Xiao Luyu looked around, then walked straight toward Yu Xiaoxiao, who was still working on a practice paper.
Seeing this, Lin Muxi couldn’t help turning back to her good bro.
“He’s really going after Yu Xiaoxiao?”
“Didn’t I tell you already?” Mo Ziyang laughed and motioned for her to keep watching.
Xiao Luyu stopped, as if thinking about something. Then, carefully, he walked around to the back of the classroom and slowly approached Yu Xiaoxiao from behind.
He reached out and tapped her shoulder.
“Hm? Who is it…”
Thinking someone was looking for her, Yu Xiaoxiao turned around, only to see it was Xiao Luyu, the guy she ate with yesterday.
“I… I’m Xiao Luyu, do you still remember me?” He was so nervous his voice almost trembled.
“Ah… I remember, of course I remember…”
Yu Xiaoxiao was also surprised. She clearly didn’t expect the person to be him.
“Um… so, what did you want to find me for?” She turned around to face him, her expression full of doubt.
After all, nobody normally comes across classes just to chat. Especially since she and Xiao Luyu barely had any connection.
“It’s nothing… I just wanted to ask if you’re free later to maybe go out and eat something together.” He answered honestly.
Hearing this, Yu Xiaoxiao almost thought she misheard.
“Me…?”
Her shock was mixed with confusion. She didn’t think she had any special qualities, so why would a boy suddenly… invite her to dinner?
