Chapter 228: Long Zihan
Even after sitting on the high-speed train, Yu Fan still found it hard to believe.
His little brother has a crush on Xiao Jing?
He looked confused, glancing at Xiao Jing, who was leaning against the window next to Li Mu.
Although he admitted Xiao Jing was pretty cute, this whole thing still felt a bit crazy to him.
"Li Mu... I think we need to find a way to make Yu Miao give up on Xiao Jing."
Li Mu agreed and nodded.
"Next time, we can detach Xiao Jing’s head and show it to him. After he gets scared, maybe he won't like her anymore," Yu Fan suggested.
"Just like your cousin, he’s still scared when he sees Xiao Jing," Yu Fan added.
"Or we could bring Xiao Jing to your house and have her act like a ghost a few times. That should do it," Li Mu said.
Yu Fan paused. Her idea sounded good, but he was worried it might make his family sick from getting too close to a ghost.
Also, after growing up around their grandpa, his family didn’t really have much fear or respect for ghosts anymore.
"We'll give it a try next time," Yu Fan said with a long, tired sigh.
Meanwhile, Xiao Jing, not caring about anything, muttered, "That guy is sissy. I don’t like him."
"That’s called being cute. He’s just not grown up yet," Li Mu said as she gently tapped Xiao Jing on the head.
Actually, Li Mu quite liked Yu Miao, he was cute, his round face was soft to pinch, but he still looked like a little kid even though he was already fifteen.
"Anyway, he’s only fifteen. Dating this young is bad!" Xiao Jing said seriously, sounding like a little adult.
"It’s not just about dating..." Yu Fan muttered. This is already a case of him falling for a ghost!
The train ride was really boring.
Even though they were traveling along the coast, the area had a lot of mountains. Because of all the tunnels, the train kept losing signal, so phones couldn’t stay connected to the internet.
Li Mu had never taken a high-speed train before. She thought she could play on her phone the whole ride, but now she was leaning back in her seat, bored and yawning nonstop.
If I had known, I would have downloaded some novels or videos ahead of time.
Xiao Jing, who was always full of energy, had already fallen asleep. Her head tilted at a crazy 90-degree angle.
Worried that her head would fall off, Li Mu gently adjusted her position. Then she herself leaned against Yu Fan’s shoulder.
The train shook now and then, which made it hard to fall asleep. She kept yawning but just couldn’t actually drift off.
Two hours later, Li Mu and Yu Fan finally got off the train, looking tired.
There was a bus at the station that could take them directly to the Longfeng Mountain scenic area.
But besides Li Mu, Yu Fan, and the ghost Xiao Jing, there were no other tourists heading there.
Actually, this train station was in a small town. The station itself was just a lonely shed with hardly any people around except the workers. Unless it was during a big holiday.
This was exactly what they expected.
The Longfeng Mountain scenic area was very deserted of visitors, and there had been a few accidents there before.
Li Mu didn’t want to go to popular tourist spots and squeeze in with a big crowd. Going to a quiet place like Longfeng Mountain was just perfect.
"I have a weird feeling, like something bad might happen," Li Mu said.
Yu Fan asked, "What's wrong?"
"Every time we go somewhere, we end up meeting a ghost, right?"
"How could it be that unlucky every time?"
Xiao Jing nodded seriously and said, "I picked this scenic area very carefully! There's no way we’ll meet a ghost!"
Just as she finished talking, a pale, thin young woman appeared in the distance. She stood under the Longfeng Mountain bus stop sign.
Although she was pulling a big suitcase, she didn’t look like a tourist at all.
From a few steps away, Li Mu also smelled a familiar scent.
"Big sister?" Xiao Jing suddenly ran over, looking very excited. "You came too!"
The woman lowered her head and gave a gentle smile, softly patting Xiao Jing's head. "Looks like you're doing pretty well."
"Yeah!" Xiao Jing replied happily.
Li Mu and Yu Fan exchanged a confused look. They really couldn’t figure out when Xiao Jing had met this stranger.
Xiao Jing grabbed the woman’s hand and pulled her over in front of them.
"Sister! Brother-in-law! This is..." She suddenly got stuck, then looked up in confusion. "What's your name again?"
"Long Zihan," the woman said with a smile, looking at Li Mu and Yu Fan as she introduced herself.
"I'm a student majoring in Foreign Languages and Trade. I’m also the one who made this body for the little girl."
Li Mu froze, completely confused. She had almost forgotten about that.
"My body made by big sister is super useful!" Xiao Jing said proudly, pulling Long Zihan closer. "Sister, after you die, you can ask her to make a body for you too! Then you can be just like me!"
"Don't say weird things," Long Zihan said with a smile as she ruffled Xiao Jing’s hair again. Then she looked at the still-stunned Li Mu and Yu Fan. "You're Li Mu, right? I've heard about you."
"......"
Li Mu was so stunned that she didn’t even know what to say.
Yu Fan, however, quickly reacted. "You know her parents?"
"Yes, or you could say that I know her family. We're all old friends. That’s why I spent a few years making a body for the little girl," Long Zihan explained.
Just then, the bus arrived. They paused their talk and got on the bus, sitting in the last row.
Only after sitting down did Li Mu suddenly realize something.
"Wait... was it you who tricked Xiao Jing into coming to Longfeng Mountain?"
Yu Fan immediately turned to look at Xiao Jing. But Xiao Jing only shook her head blankly.
"Not tricked, more like guided," Long Zihan said.
"But I’ve never even seen you before..." Li Mu said.
"No need to meet face to face," Long Zihan replied.
Li Mu gasped.
Does that mean she can guide Xiao Jing from far away? Some kind of magic? A special skill?
But Uncle Chen Yi didn’t seem to know any of that stuff...
"I just sent her daily tourist ads about Longfeng Mountain," Long Zihan said casually.
"......"
"Eh? Those were from you?" Xiao Jing looked even more confused. "I thought it was just some travel agency sending ads."
"Then how did you run into us at the train station... Was it really just luck?" Yu Fan asked.
"Chen Yi told me your travel plans last night, so I came," Long Zihan explained.
Yesterday, when they were getting Xiao Jing’s ID card, Li Mu had to tell Chen Yi their travel plan, otherwise he wouldn't approve it.
"So..."
Li Mu started to ask, but Long Zihan already answered.
"Li Mu's parents were last seen near this area. Over the years, their friends and the police have been investigating nearby, and now they believe the key is at Longfeng Mountain."
"But Chen Yi and the others are too well-known. If they send police there, it could scare people off. So they sent me to do a quiet investigation instead."
"I was too scared to go alone, so I thought of a way to get you two to come along too," Long Zihan added.
Yu Fan let out a helpless sigh. "We just wanted to travel and relax and now we’re stuck in some ghost-related mess again."
Li Mu couldn’t help but think maybe she really had some kind of curse, always getting dragged into strange cases.
But since it involved her parents, she didn’t even hesitate before agreeing to help Long Zihan.
"Don’t worry, it’s just an investigation, nothing dangerous."
