[Vol. 8] Chapter 47: A Classic Case of Strategic Placement
Hearing the girl mock him without holding back, a cold glint seemed to flash through [Wild]’s stone eyes. Without saying a word, he turned his head and whipped his sharp, spear-like tail around, aiming it straight at the dragon girl’s unguarded back!
BANG!!!!!
But before the deadly attack could land, the golden tail behind the girl swung around quickly like a fifth limb, hitting it to the side with great force. The two strikes clashed evenly, neither one had the upper hand.
[Wild] didn’t seem to expect this move to end the fight. His horned head and tail quickly adjusted and changed into a dark, snake-like shape, striking again. In a flash, his attacks clashed with the dragon’s tail in a storm of blows, hundreds of times in just moments.
At the same time, he also split his focus, dodging her next few fast punches, then suddenly turned and sent a fist flying straight at the blonde girl’s face!
But she turned her head just in time to dodge, then suddenly opened her small mouth. A golden flash of lightning shot out!
BOOM!!!!!
The bright golden dragon breath hit [Wild] directly in the chest. The explosion was so strong that it looked like rocket flames launching him into the sky, sending him flying in a blazing trail!
Maybe he let his guard down, or maybe even a god like [Wild] couldn’t resist the overwhelming power in that dragon breath. Either way, the black crystal figure was blasted high into the sky by the golden flames and disappeared from sight in the blink of an eye.
"Hmph..."
BANG!
Not planning to let him go, the dragon girl’s wings suddenly spread wide. With a loud boom, she shot into the air and chased after him, disappearing into the clouds above.
“Your Divineness... finally, a real challenge,”
“Yeah... must be the legendary Dragon God.”
Back on the wasteland, Carlos and Vog, who had seen the whole fierce but short fight, looked at each other. They didn’t move, but instead both turned their eyes to a different spot nearby, watching closely.
There, a beautiful girl wearing a white holy robe slowly landed. Her long black hair flowed in the air like a waterfall, and her white wings shone with beauty and grace. She held a staff in her hand.
CLANG!
Carlos the bug-man warrior raised his huge axe high, making a sound like clashing metal. Just as he was about to charge, the bald giant Vog reached out to stop him. He knocked hard on his strong chest, covered only by a vest, making a loud thump-thump sound like a drum.
“Heh heh, Brother Carlos, let me go first!”
Carlos looked at his eager friend, stayed quiet for a moment, then lowered his axe and nodded slightly.
“Alright. But be careful, this girl’s energy is deep and hard to read. I think she’s really strong.”
“Hahaha! That’s exactly what I want!”
Vog laughed loudly as he stepped forward, coming face-to-face with the black-haired girl who had just landed. She was also curiously looking at these two strange people.
Without warning, Vog stomped the ground hard!
BOOM!!!!!
In that instant, the ground around him shook as if the whole center of the battlefield was rumbling from his power. After showing off, the huge man crossed his arms and spoke confidently to the calm-looking girl:
“I am Vog, one of the three great warriors of the Behemoth Tribe, The [Earthshaker]! Where’s your partner?!”
Even though Vog didn’t recognize the thin and small girl who had suddenly appeared, he could tell that since [Wild] was already fighting a strong enemy, this newcomer, who had dropped from the sky, was clearly on the same side as the blonde girl. Most likely, she was one of the two women who had defeated Flora the night before.
And based on what [Wild] said, besides the just-arrived Dragon God, there should be two more enemies, perfect for him and Carlos to each handle one.
The girl looked at him with a slightly puzzled expression, then pointed up at the sky.
“Isn’t one of them already fighting that weird stone guy? Besides her, I’m the only one who came this time. Don’t worry, both of you can fight me together if you want.”
“Huh?”
Vog froze on the spot. Although he was incredibly strong, he wasn’t very quick-witted. For a moment, he couldn't figure out why three enemies had suddenly become two. But either way, now that he was sure the girl in front of him was one of the enemies [Wild] mentioned, he didn’t bother with the details.
“What nonsense are you talking about? We Behemoth warriors care about the spirit of battle the most, we never gang up on one enemy! I can tell that even though you don’t have big muscles, you’re actually pretty strong. But don’t think it’s easy to take a punch from the great Vog! Are you ready?!”
The girl, Violet, gave a helpless smile and simply curled her finger in a "come on" gesture, using action instead of words.
Wait… this girl… is actually quite polite?
“EARTH—SHAKING—FIST!!!”
As soon as he got her signal, the huge man roared at the sky. His muscles swelled up again like balloons. He took a big step forward and punched the air toward the girl!
The air shook wildly, carrying flying dust and stones in all directions. His punch turned into a massive iron fist, hundreds of meters wide, rushing forward like a runaway steel train!
“RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE!!!!!!!”
The giant fist of pure strength tore across the ground, leaving behind a deep trench that stretched for several kilometers. But when the dust finally began to settle, the black-haired girl on the other side was nowhere to be seen.
“Hahahaha! So, how about... huh?”
Vog, thinking he had just scared the enemy with his opening move, was getting ready to charge again when he stopped, confused.
Wait… did he actually hit her so hard that not even a piece was left?
Even though he had used all his strength in that strike, it was still a long-range punch, not a close-up fight. Could it really have ended that fast? Was everyone other than the Dragon God just a weakling?
Before the slow-thinking Behemoth warrior could figure it out, Carlos suddenly shouted from a distance.
“Vog! She’s above you!”
“?!”
Vog was shocked. He instinctively looked up, and there she was! The black-haired girl who had vanished from sight was now gliding down from the sky, her pure white wings spread wide like snow. She was holding a long, fancy-looking staff high above her head, and coming down like a falling star to strike!
What the—?! Isn’t that thing supposed to be for casting magic?
He didn’t understand her strange way of fighting, but as a battle-hardened warrior, Vog didn’t hesitate. He didn’t even stop to wonder how she dodged his sure-hit attack and flew into the air. With a roar, he bent his knees, gathered his strength, and swung his own fist upward to counter!
“CLANG!!!!!”
