[Vol. 8] Chapter 59: Sudden Change, the Giant Serpent Attacks!

But compared to its original look, the black crystal now had many dents and marks. Its surface was no longer smooth and clear like before. It looked rough, as if it had been hit by some great force. Although its energy still seemed steady, everyone present could clearly see.

He was hurt.

The [God of the Wilderness], known among the gods for His powerful defense and said to be completely unharmed even after tens of thousands of years, was now injured. Even after fully activating its Divine Realm. It was truly unbelievable.

But it was a fact.

“Your Divineness!”

Carlos and Vog, who had just been swept away by the pressure of the dragon girl’s [Ultra Annihilation], were shocked when they saw this. Thanks to [Wild]’s protection, they were still alive for now, but they dragged their badly injured bodies forward, trying to cover their god’s retreat with their own lives.

However, the [God of the Wilderness] shouted in anger without even looking back, stopping them in their tracks.

[If you don’t want to die, stay where you are! I don’t need your help!]

Then, the expressionless stone face turned again to the two girls in front. More exactly, to the emotionless dragon girl. The god’s voice was deep and serious.

[Are you a member of the [World Sustainers], the [Keepers of the World]? Has a new group been formed without us knowing? How did you enter this world? The [Keepers of the World]... how could they be mixed in with gods who hold laws?]

[Wild] suddenly asked four questions in a row. This kind of behavior, and the strange content of the questions, made both Violet and the dragon girl glance at each other in confusion. But after what happened during their earlier talk, the priestess had learned that saying too much can be dangerous. So instead of answering directly, she simply smiled and asked back.

“Oh? Does someone who just lost a fight think they can ask us questions?”

[You...!]

That sarcastic reply seemed to really anger [Wild]. His already unstable energy became even more chaotic, but He still didn’t back down. In fact, He looked even angrier.

[You also hold the laws of the world, and you’re even on the side of Order. Even if you don’t know our plan, don’t you at least understand how dangerous the [World Sustainers] are!? Do you want past disasters to happen again? Or even worse, do you want this world, and all worlds, to...!]

It seemed [Wild] was about to say something very secret and dangerous, but suddenly stopped mid-sentence. With a cold snort—"Hmph!"—He ended the rant. The priestess, who had been secretly listening and analyzing, felt disappointed and couldn’t help but pout a little.

Looks like this guy really wasn’t trying to hide things on purpose. He was avoiding talking about something He couldn’t say out loud.

Still, the [World Sustainers]... could it be a creature like [Taotie]?

That creature really was absurdly powerful. Even though it wasn’t a true god, it was harder to deal with than most gods Violet had ever seen. It even forced her to use her ultimate move in [Destruction Mode].

If you ignore the [Illusory World] factor, in terms of pure power, it really did resemble past versions of Xiao Guang or even someone like Snow Wing.

What exactly are the [World Sustainers]? Why did [Wild] suddenly change its attitude so much after thinking Xiao Guang was one of them?

Of course, Violet wouldn’t say any of these thoughts out loud in front of the enemy. Even if the dragon girl had no real connection to the [World Sustainers], [Wild] was still their enemy.

“What a joke. A so-called evil god who slaughtered thousands of lives is now pretending to care about the safety of the world? I don’t need your advice on what to do. If you’ve got nothing else to say, then get ready to die.”

[Wait!]

The [God of the Wilderness] shouted loudly, causing the priestess to pause slightly with her staff still raised in the air. But she didn’t lower her weapon. Her silver-blue eyes, cold and calm, stayed focused on the god. As if she would strike again at any moment if things didn’t go her way.

What was surprising, though, was that even though it was clear who had won and who had lost, [Wild] didn’t seem afraid or desperate. Instead, He suddenly brought up a strange and unexpected topic.

[Violet... do you know why I came to this world at this exact moment? Normally, gods cannot cross the world’s barriers in the Origin Realm with their true bodies. And yet, I did. Have you ever wondered why?]

The priestess frowned slightly and glanced at her dragon without replying. Instead, it was the Dragon God, who had been ready to continue the fight, that calmly spoke.

“What are you trying to say?”

[Wild] clearly disliked and distrusted the dragon girl that He believed was part of the [World Sustainers] and completely ignored her. His eyes stayed on the priestess, and His voice grew deeper and more serious.

[Listen, this is your last chance. God-level power is very rare. If you leave the [World Sustainers] now and accept the Twilight Council’s invitation, we can pretend none of this ever happened. We can work together to fight for a better future.]

[Violet, you are strong, no doubt. But the real mysteries of this world are far beyond what you’ve seen so far. You can’t escape. No one can. Join us or else...]

“My answer... haven’t I already made it very clear!?”

Maybe she had lost all patience for this pointless talk, or maybe it was the way her partner had been treated with open hostility. Either way, the priestess was clearly fed up. A brilliant light burst from the tip of her staff, turning into a storm of glowing swords that shot out like rain across the sky as she shouted and attacked!

This move seemed to make [Wild] finally give up on trying to recruit her. The god’s badly damaged body of black crystal suddenly leapt back, and ancient divine words rippled through the air, shaking the heavens and the earth with their power.

[Attack!!!]

As soon as that shout ended, the ground beneath the two girls began to shake violently!

BOOM!!!

A huge, terrifying three-headed bone dragon burst out from underground and flew into the sky. The priestess narrowed her eyes slightly when she saw it, she had recognized what it was. At once, the glowing sword rain that had been aimed at the [God of the Wilderness] changed direction and shot toward the new enemy.

But her real target wasn’t the bone dragon. It was something even more terrifying that followed right after it.

It was a giant snake, so huge it looked like it could swallow the sky and sun. Only its head could be seen, while the rest of its body seemed endless.

The massive serpent’s enormous body coiled and spun across the land, rising high into the sky. It was so big that it almost completely blocked out the sunlight. The countless light swords from the 8th-tier spell [Purification Rain] hit it all at once with explosive force. But it was like scratching an itch through a shoe. The attack did nothing to stop it!

In the next moment, the flying giant snake seemed to lock onto the two girls below. A dark green light burst out from its eyes, turning into two huge bolts of green lightning that crashed down without mercy!

CRACK CRACK CRACK CRACK CRACK!!!!

The green lightning smashed toward them, tearing the space around it. Even though the priestess was shocked, she stayed calm. With a swing of her staff, layer upon layer of holy shields quickly formed.

“[Composite Barrier: Holy Shield Wall]”
