Chapter 198: Don’t Want Them to Know

The room was quiet. Lin Muqing lowered her head, thinking about what her good buddy had just told her. Knowing him well, she didn’t think he was joking. If he said it, then there had to be real evidence behind it.

“You’re sure?”

After thinking for a while, Lin Muqing took a deep breath, slowly exhaled, and then raised her head again to ask. She was curious, why was he so certain those people were her biological parents?

“Mm, accuracy is greater than or equal to 99.99%.”

Ye Ziming nodded seriously. He didn’t mention the paternity test directly, only stating its accuracy rate.

After hearing this, Lin Muqing lowered her head again, lost in thought, while Ye Ziming quietly sat beside her and waited.

It wasn’t unexpected. After last night’s talk, Ye Ziming believed Lin Muqing wouldn’t have too strong of an emotional reaction.

“Do they know about this?”

After a moment, she asked again.

“They don’t.”

“How many people know about it?”

“You, me, and my parents.”

After asking a few more questions, Lin Muqing had a rough idea of the situation. Her good buddy had found her biological parents, but hadn’t told any outsiders.

She didn’t know why, but during the conversation, her previously calm heart started to beat faster. Her breathing also became a bit uneven.

She had been wanting to find her biological parents for more than a year. Now that her good buddy had helped her find them, she should have been eager to ask who they were. But when the question was about to leave her lips, she suddenly felt nervous and scared, not daring to say it.

“I… I want to see them.”

After much inner struggle, Lin Muqing finally spoke, looking straight into his eyes.

Right before she said it, she had made up her mind. No matter what, she wanted to see who her biological parents were.

“Actually, you’ve already met them.”

Meeting her nervous gaze, Ye Ziming smiled lightly and handed his phone to her. On the screen was a family photo of the Lin family, five people for now, but soon to be six.

“Based on the paternity test, they are your family.”

After showing her the photo, Ye Ziming thought for a moment and added that line.

When Lin Muqing saw the photo, her breath caught. Her excitement and nervousness instantly calmed down. She was surprised, but not as shocked as she expected.

What truly widened her eyes and left her stunned was the fact that Meng Yue and Lin Cong in the picture looked familiar.

In her memory, there were two blurry figures. She didn’t remember who they were or why they mattered to her. But now, looking at the photo, the images of Meng Yue and Lin Cong overlapped perfectly with those blurry figures in her mind.

“Huh? Big bro?”

When she came back to her senses, she found that her good buddy was patting her head and using a tissue to wipe her tears.

Then she realized, to her surprise, that without even noticing, two streams of tears had already rolled down her cheeks.

“Wait, I… why…”

Panicking, she pushed his hand away, lifted her own hands to her face, and tried to figure out why she was crying.

It was strange, when she realized her biological mother was Aunt Lin, her heart had actually relaxed a lot. Yet the tears just wouldn’t stop falling.

"Do you want them to know?"

After she quickly pushed him away, Ye Ziming didn’t get angry. He just waited quietly, letting Lin Muqing calm down before asking.

"I… I don’t know."

Her feelings were a mess right now. It was like her left brain was flour, her right brain was water, and when shaken together, it was just mush.

She really wanted to go find Meng Yue now, but she didn’t want them to know about this yet, because she wasn’t ready. She was living well now, and they were also living well. A few days ago, her good buddy told her that Meng Yue wanted to adopt her as a daughter. At that time, she refused, but now her heart was moved. Lin Muqing wanted to use this chance to get closer to her biological parents.

"Big bro, let’s not tell them for now, okay?"

Thinking of this, Lin Muqing held his hand and asked in a pleading tone.

After figuring some things out, she really felt more relaxed. Although she was still excited and couldn’t fully calm down, at least her feelings were now positive. What she wanted most was to learn more about the Lin family, and especially Lin Cong and Meng Yue as a couple.

There was a missing piece in her memory, and she wanted to find a way to pick it back up.

"Okay."

Ye Ziming nodded and agreed to her request.

They kept sitting on the bed talking, and during the conversation, Lin Muqing shared her idea, she wanted to try accepting Meng Yue’s request to be her daughter. Hearing this, Ye Ziming was surprised at first, but quickly understood why she wanted to do it. After all, this whole thing had happened so suddenly and so fast that even he was caught off guard.

However, there was one thing he didn’t say. Although he promised Lin Muqing he wouldn’t tell anyone, his parents hadn’t made that promise.

"It’s getting late, let’s sleep first. We can deal with the rest tomorrow."

Glancing at the time, Ye Ziming spoke softly.

"Mm-hmm."

She nodded obediently, then got out of bed to use the bathroom, before climbing back in and snuggling under the blanket to sleep. Tonight, her emotions had been like a roller coaster. Up and down, complicated. But now, at the end of the ride, her mood had calmed a lot.

The nervousness and fear mostly came from the unknown. Once everything becomes clear, it’s often easier to relax, just like Lin Muqing now.

She knew what she wanted to do, she had decided how to face her real parents, and now she even felt excited, excited to see them again tomorrow.

"Good night, Big bro."

Lying under the blanket, she held it tightly up to her face, leaving only her big eyes peeking out at him.

"Mm, good night."

Before turning off the light, Ye Ziming looked at her for a moment, then couldn’t resist reaching over to pat her head. After that, the room fell silent. They both got into the same blanket and went to sleep.

But before he actually fell asleep, Ye Ziming did two things.

First, he took out his phone and sent his parents a WeChat message about Lin Muqing’s emotional state and the fact that she didn’t want the Lin family to know yet.

Second… he reached out to Lin Muqing and asked for the shorts she was wearing.

"Ah… okay, Big bro, here."

Her voice was filled with awkward laughter. She shifted a little under the blanket, then handed him the shorts. In truth, she could have refused, and Ye Ziming didn’t force her.

But to make sure she wouldn’t get her butt smacked in the morning, Lin Muqing figured it was safer to just hand them over.
