Chapter 208: A Birthday Gift for Bro
After finishing the household registration update, Lin Cong looked at Lin Muqing and suggested that they should find time to visit her adoptive parents in the southern part of the city. Although they had already passed away, he felt it was important to visit their graves and pay respects. After all, they raised his daughter for so many years.
From what Lin Muqing told them, Lin Cong and his wife learned that she had lived a good life. Her adoptive parents had truly treated her like their own daughter. The only regret was that Lin Cong never had the chance to thank them in person.
“Umm... Mom, where are we going now?”
After handling the paperwork, Lin Muqing thought they’d head straight home. But after driving for a while, she noticed something was off. Even though she had never been to this city before, she was pretty sure there weren’t this many tall buildings along the road earlier.
“We’re going to the hospital.”
Meng Yue smiled, gently patted Lin Muqing on the head, and answered with a hint of guilt.
Even though she had already seen the earlier medical report, she still felt a bit uneasy. So after a quick discussion with her husband, they decided to go to the hospital for a more detailed check-up.

“Big bro, come on! Your birthday present just arrived!”
Before leaving, she pulled her good buddy along, the package was his carefully prepared birthday gift. She promised it would be a huge surprise.
“What kind of gift?”
As he was being dragged along, Ye Ziming noticed her smile looked a little… suspicious. He raised an eyebrow and asked.
“An amazing gift~”
Lin Muqing just giggled and kept it a secret. She wasn’t about to spoil the surprise.
She had spent quite a bit of time shopping on an online platform to find the perfectly shocking birthday present.
Not long after, Lin Muqing reached the gate of the Ye villa. She turned and signaled for Ye Ziming to hurry up and open the door.
Earlier that afternoon, she had been told that Ye Mengze already signed for the delivery, and the package was now sitting on the coffee table in the living room.
“Auntie.”
When the door opened, and Lin Muqing saw Ye Ziming’s mom had just gotten home too, she politely greeted her.
“Oh, here to get your package? It’s right over there.”
Seeing Lin Muqing appear, Li Muning quickly guessed why she came, and smiled while pointing to the two boxes on the table.
But something about her expression looked… odd. Almost like she was looking at something strange.
A moment earlier, out of curiosity, she and Ye Mengze had secretly opened one of the packages, and they were shocked by what they saw!
“Big bro, here’s your birthday gift~!”
Lin Muqing cheerfully walked to the table, picked up the two packages, and handed them to Ye Ziming.
There were two boxes: one was the serious gift… and the other was the not-so-serious one.
“So it’s a birthday gift, huh?”
Before Ye Ziming could even react, Li Muning blurted out in surprise.
“Yup! Today’s his birthday, after all.”
Since the boxes had been placed upside down on the table, Lin Muqing didn’t notice that one of them had already been opened. So she just smiled and nodded, confirming it without hesitation.
What she didn’t know was… as soon as Li Muning heard this, her eyes widened and she sharply sucked in a breath, shocked to her core.
At the same time, she thought to herself, ‘Young people these days really know how to play... Compared to them, I’m just an old-fashioned antique.’
The whole atmosphere felt strange. Ye Ziming thought both his mom and Lin Muqing were acting weird, and he felt like he didn’t belong there at all. In that strange mood, he didn’t open his birthday gifts right away. Instead, he went to help his mom carry some things to the Lin family’s house.
Today was his birthday, but he didn’t like celebrating it in a noisy or flashy way. So he just ordered a cake and planned to have a simple dinner with everyone. The cake was already at the Lin house, and the things he helped his mom carry were ingredients for tonight’s dinner.
After getting home, Lin Muqing put the two delivery boxes on the couch, then followed her good buddy to the kitchen. Since he was busy carrying things, she held onto the birthday gifts for now.
“Huh? What’s this?”
Just then, Lin Qiwen happened to walk by. He noticed the two boxes on the couch and, out of curiosity, picked them up to take a look.
Technically, opening someone else’s package is impolite, but one of the boxes had already been opened, so he decided to take another peek inside.
Then…
“Holy crap!?”
When he saw what was inside the box, Lin Qiwen was shocked.
“What’s wrong?”
Hearing his voice, Lin Zixuan came over and saw the contents too. His eyes immediately went wide. He was so stunned he couldn’t even speak. Seeing both of them act like this, Lin Yiming also came over to check.
Ye Zizhuo was curious too.
Ye Mengze wasn’t surprised, she had already secretly opened the box earlier and knew exactly what was inside.
“Don’t look at me like that! It’s not my package!”
Feeling flustered, Lin Qiwen noticed the way everyone was staring at him and quickly tried to shift the blame.
Then he flipped the box over and saw the delivery label. To his surprise, it clearly listed Ye Ziming’s name and info.
P.S. Of course it had to be addressed to him, that way if someone sees it, the one who gets embarrassed is him, not me!
“Ahem... Technically speaking, he wouldn’t buy something like this.”
Ye Zizhuo couldn’t stand the awkwardness, so he spoke up to try to explain on his brother’s behalf.
“Maybe he just hides it well?” Lin Qiwen raised an eyebrow and said with a sly look.
At that moment, a bad idea popped into his head. If their little sister found out about this, would her view of Ye Ziming change?
He felt conflicted. Even though he didn’t like Ye Ziming, because he felt like this guy stole his sister, using this kind of tactic didn’t sit well with him either.

Right then, Lin Muqing walked out of the kitchen and saw the three Lin brothers and the Ye siblings all standing around silently, staring at the delivery box.
The three brothers quickly moved to block the box to stop their little sister from seeing something she definitely shouldn’t be looking at at her age.

She walked over to the couch, picked up the other delivery box, and asked with a puzzled expression.
