Chapter 218: The Main Character Tonight
After a simple lunch, she sat on the couch with her parents to watch some TV.
“Chengnan is not really that far,” Meng Yue said softly while holding her daughter in her arms on the couch.
It was about a two-hour drive. For people who own a car, it’s not that far, but for her, it felt a bit far.
Her precious daughter just came home. She wished she could see her every day. It would be best if they could live together, so she could take good care of her.
“Mom, I’ll definitely come home on the weekends,” Lin Muqing said as she hugged her mom back.
At first, Meng Yue thought about having Lin Muqing transfer schools and come back to study high school in City A. That way, they could live together every day. But after some thinking, like how suddenly transferring schools might make it hard for Muqing to adjust, she gave up on the idea.
Also, there was Ye Ziming and the Lin family branch over there. In theory, staying in Chengnan for school was pretty good for her.
“Okay. If I have time, I’ll come over there to visit you too,” Meng Yue said with a smile as she gently patted her daughter’s head.
Since the holiday would end this week and there would probably be makeup classes next week, she planned to take a short trip to Chengnan next week, a chance to have fun and visit her daughter. It was a pretty good plan.

Most of the afternoon passed quickly. In the remaining time, they had to start getting ready for the evening banquet.
As the main organizers, Lin Cong and Ye Mingxu left early to personally take care of the event setup.
Following Lin Cong were Lin Muqing’s three older brothers. They went to help and learn how to manage big events.
As for Lin Muqing and Ye Ziming, since they were the special “main characters” of tonight, they would appear later.
“Uhh, can’t I wear something that’s not a dress?”

She had picked this dress together with Li Muning. It had two key features. One, it matched Muqing’s style, a little formal but not too formal, and it brought out her unique cuteness.
And second, it matched Ye Ziming’s outfit. In other words, it was a couple’s outfit.

“Do you still remember the thing you promised me yesterday?”
Just as Muqing opened her mouth to argue, Ye Ziming lightly patted her shoulder.
Yesterday afternoon, while they were having fun at the tourist area, Muqing had promised him something, in exchange for helping rescue her three brothers.

Muqing suddenly turned to stare at her good buddy. At this point, she realized she had been tricked.
Now, her mom was looking at her with full expectation, and her good buddy was looking at her with a teasing smile.

“Yeah, I think so too,” Ye Ziming agreed without hesitation, fully supporting his mother and thinking her idea was great.
So, without Lin Muqing knowing, Meng Yue and Ye Ziming had silently formed a united front, both thinking it was time for her to make a little "change."
Not long after, Lin Muqing came out of the bathroom in her new outfit, and Ye Ziming was stunned by how amazing she looked.
“You look so pretty and cute!”
Meng Yue was the first to speak, smiling warmly as she held her precious daughter's hand.
Lin Muqing felt a little awkward. She didn’t really want to wear the dress, but her good buddy had tricked her into it, so she blamed him for this whole thing!
“Hmph.” She glanced at him with a pretend pout, then turned her head away proudly, acting like she didn’t want to talk to him.
Ye Ziming just shrugged with a smile, raising his eyebrows but saying nothing, still looking at her with a happy expression.
Meng Yue, noticing their little interaction, chuckled and said teasingly, “Aren’t you going to ask your little boyfriend if you look good?”
“No way. He only ever says I’m cute,” Lin Muqing answered proudly, like a little cat pretending to be annoyed.
Ye Ziming scratched his head a bit awkwardly. It was true that over the past few days, he had been calling her cute a lot. But honestly, everything he said was true, she really was cute.
“Pfft, you go change too. Then meet us downstairs,” Meng Yue said with a laugh, before leading Lin Muqing back to her room by the hand.
Tonight, her precious daughter was the star of the evening. Not only did she need a nice outfit, she also had to be dressed up beautifully.
Some time later, when Meng Yue came downstairs with Lin Muqing, Ye Ziming felt like he was looking at a real fairy.
“Do I look nice?”
Lin Muqing asked softly as she walked down the stairs, noticing that Ye Ziming had been staring at her in a way that made her feel a bit shy and self-conscious.
“Yeah, really nice,” Ye Ziming replied truthfully with a gentle nod.
To him, Lin Muqing was the cutest girl in the world, and he wouldn’t let anyone tell him otherwise.
“…You look nice too,” she said in a small voice, turning her head away shyly. It felt different hearing praise from him than from her mom, it made her heart flutter a little.
At that moment, Ye Ziming looked really handsome too, and Lin Muqing definitely thought so. She wasn’t just saying it randomly.
