Chapter 11: An Unexpected Change
The morning sunlight slowly spread into the dark dorm room, covering the tiled floor and reflecting a few blinding streaks of light.
On the top bunk of the iron bed on the right, An Han turned over, curling up like an octopus, wrapping himself around his blanket and pillow.
Half-asleep, he suddenly felt a faint stinging pain on his chest.
He half-opened his eyes and laid flat on the bed.
The stinging pain became a little stronger.
“Was I… bitten by a mosquito?”
“Or did I get a pimple?”
His voice was sleepy and unclear. He raised his head and glanced at his roommate on the other bed.
It was still early.
Brother Long usually got up around six-thirty, so as long as he was still asleep, An Han could safely go back to sleep too.
And if Brother Long ever overslept and made An Han late for class, well, he’d have someone to blame.
He turned over again, lying on his back. Yawning, he reached his hand under his shirt and scratched the itchy spot a few times.
Yep, definitely a pimple.
Actually… two.
Huh? Wait—what?!
His brain suddenly snapped awake. He pushed himself up, sitting straight on the bed, and looked down at his chest, through the thin shirt, he could clearly see two small bumps.
Then, hesitantly, he pressed one of them lightly with his finger.
It hurt a bit, felt slightly swollen, and there seemed to be something firm underneath.
If these were really pimples, An Han would’ve already grabbed a needle to pop them. But the problem was… these weren’t pimples!
His head went a little dizzy. He had no idea what was going on.
“I need to check online, quick.”
Panicking, An Han grabbed his phone and started searching on the internet.
He thought “Doctor Internet” would tell him he had some terrible disease, but the result was even more absurd than he expected.
“Normal puberty development.”
But I’m a guy!
What’s normal about that?!
Sure, no one had ever said a guy’s chest could never develop, but this explanation still sounded completely ridiculous to him.
He knew it, Internet couldn’t be trusted.
Still trying to convince himself, An Han suddenly remembered that system mission about “seducing a man”… and felt an awful suspicion rise in his chest.
No way… am I really developing?!
Any trace of sleepiness was gone. He quietly climbed down from the bed and walked to the mirror on the wardrobe.
His sleepwear was just an oversized white shirt, and below that, only a pair of underwear, mostly covered by the shirt. His bare, straight legs stretched out below, making it look like he wasn’t wearing anything at all.
Even though his “Body” stat had only increased by one point, after just one night, An Han noticed his figure looked a bit more balanced and healthy than it did after his shower last night.
Before, he had looked like a stick, skinny enough to be called a bamboo pole. Now, he actually seemed to have reached a normal, healthy weight.
“So, the attribute point doesn’t instantly make changes? The effect grows slowly?” he muttered, scratching his messy hair while studying his reflection. “If this keeps up, just a few more points in Body and I might actually get abs!”
He paused, frowning in confusion.
“But wait… why does this feel like puberty? Why do I feel more and more uneasy about this…?”
Everything seemed to be improving, except for those strange “pimples” on his chest. Still, that matter kept bothering An Han, especially the thought that the system’s Body Attribute might actually be developing him toward a female body type.
That idea was terrifying.
He tried his best not to think about it, pushing the scary thought out of his mind.
Come on, what kind of bad intention could a system even have?
It’s not like it’s trying to raise me as a girl… right?
While he was still trying to convince himself, Long Xing’s voice came from the upper bunk.
“Xiao Han, you’re up this early?”
Without looking back, An Han replied, “Went to the bathroom and couldn’t fall back asleep. What time is it?”
“Seven.”
“Then it’s almost time for class.” Stretching lazily and yawning, he walked toward the balcony.
Long Xing watched his back. Even under that loose white shirt, he could sense that An Han’s shoulders seemed narrower than before, and his back looked… well, kind of graceful. His gaze slipped down. Those long, pale legs sticking out from under the shirt—
He’d never really paid attention to An Han’s figure before, but now he suddenly thought… if An Han wore stockings, he might not look any worse than that girl he’d bumped into the other night.
“An Han, did you… gain some weight?”
An Han turned around and saw Long Xing getting off the bed, peeking out toward the balcony.
“Yeah, a little bit, I guess?”
“A little?”
Long Xing frowned. Why did An Han’s “getting a bit chubbier” make him look more like a pretty crossdresser?
Still, he smiled and said politely, “You actually look better than before.”
“Right?!”
An Han grinned widely, instantly forgetting all his earlier worries, happily brushing his teeth.
Even though there were some weird signs of “development,” the physical changes were still a good thing, at least he really did look more attractive.
Maybe it was just something he ate, or maybe it was just some side effect of his body changing too fast?
He just hoped it would also make him taller.
He wasn’t asking for much, 1.75 meters would be fine.
Looked like from now on, he shouldn’t just focus on the missions with the best rewards.
After rinsing and spitting out the foam, he turned his head, only to find Long Xing standing beside him, looking at him with a strange expression.
“Brother Long, why are you staring at me?” An Han asked in confusion, wiping his mouth, thinking maybe some toothpaste foam had stuck to his face.
Long Xing shook his head, hesitated, and said, “It’s just… that girl, she wasn’t really you in women’s clothes, was she?”
“How could that be?” An Han replied casually with a laugh, wiping his face with a towel. “Don’t let Chen Junjie brainwash you. He’s just messing around.”
That was what Long Xing thought yesterday too. But today, looking at An Han’s figure, he suddenly felt Chen Junjie’s theory made a lot of sense.
“Hm.”
Even so, An Han could still feel that suspicious look on Long Xing’s face, which only made him more anxious inside.
What do I do now…?
On the surface, he kept a calm smile, but deep down, he was cursing Chen Junjie and Wu Dongming’s entire family tree.
He stepped aside to make room for Long Xing to wash up, pretending to focus on rinsing his towel. But he couldn’t figure out why Long Xing suddenly started doubting him today.
Did I slip up somewhere?
Logically, only Wu Dongming and Su Peng knew about his crossdressing. One needed his help, so he wouldn’t dare say anything. The other was a decent guy and his friend, he wouldn’t spread it either.
An Han felt a strong sense of danger!
He instinctively turned to glance at Long Xing, only to see him quickly lower his head, as if avoiding his gaze on purpose.
He couldn’t wait any longer! He had to do something!
That sense of danger exploded inside him, and with a determined look, An Han headed back toward the dorm room.
Fine! I’ll just crossdress one more time!
At least then, Long Xing would be sure there really was a girl like that on campus!
Long Xing watched his roommate’s back as he walked away and let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Good thing An Han didn’t notice that he’d been staring at his legs.
But then, still brushing his teeth, Long Xing frowned in confusion and muttered to himself,
“Could it be that Chen Junjie kept saying An Han was a crossdresser… and now I just started seeing him that way too?”
