Chapter 14: Before the Date

An Han’s system was always unpredictable. Sometimes it showed up three times a day, and sometimes it completely disappeared for days.

It couldn’t be called out by voice, nor could it appear in his mind. He could only wait for it to show up on its own.

Not smart at all.

He had hoped to get more attribute points through the system, but it hadn’t appeared these past two days.

At noon, An Han stood in front of the mirror on his wardrobe, frowning as he studied his reflection.

After gaining the body attribute, his figure no longer looked weak and fragile, but he somehow looked a bit soft. It seemed that the system had only added fat but not muscle, making him look slightly chubby instead.

Maybe if he got a few more points in body, things would look better. After all, being chubby was still better than looking weak, right?

At least it’d help him take a few more punches.

However, the pain in his chest was getting worse, not better like he thought it would. When he wore short sleeves, those two points on his chest were faintly visible, which made him even more uneasy.

Could the body attribute really be turning me more like a girl?

This thought often came up, but An Han had no way to fix it, so he tried to push the idea out of his mind.

“Tonight I’ll finally meet Long Xing.”

He had practiced a fake female voice for two days, but it still didn’t sound right. Even after adjusting the tone, his voice came out weak and forced, like he was pretending too hard.

Also, not a single girl had tried to talk to him yet.

The system said everyone would have ten extra points of affection toward him. With that plus his charm attribute, it made no sense that no girl had approached him!

Surely the affection stat doesn’t start at triple digits, right?

“An Han, come with me to my date tonight?” Long Xing came up beside him, posing in the mirror, showing off his muscular body.

Who’s going on a date with you?! The plan online was just to meet, not an actual date!

An Han glanced at his chest muscles with envy.

One day, my chest will be bigger than yours!

“How about I wear just a tank top tonight? Let the girl see my body properly?”

“You’ll scare her away.”

“Then what about a tight short-sleeve shirt?”

“That’ll attract men instead.” An Han shot him down without mercy.

But Long Xing didn’t care. He was lost in his own world, smiling foolishly with a lovestruck expression.

An Han happened to look at him and immediately got goosebumps from disgust.

After all, all Long Xing could think about… was his cross-dressing.

This has to end tonight!

After giving Long Xing a fierce glare, An Han turned and walked out of the dorm room.

He had no classes this afternoon, so he could use the time to prepare for the whole “female outfit” thing.

Too bad he didn’t know how to put on makeup.

“Next time I get a skill-type mission, I really need to think twice,” he muttered.

Reaching the bottom of the dorm building, An Han looked around carefully, then jogged toward the nearby delivery station.

“Boss, that package from this morning, you haven’t sent it yet, right?”

“Yeah,” the man replied.

“Good. I don’t want to send it anymore.”

Before class that morning, An Han had brought his women’s outfit to the delivery station to send it out. But actually, his real purpose was to ask the owner to keep it for him.

After all, he didn’t have any classes in the afternoon, and his roommates were the type who stayed in the dorm unless they had to go out. If he left the dorm carrying women’s clothes in front of them, they’d definitely start suspecting something.

At first, An Han thought about asking Wu Dongming to help him keep the outfit, but that guy was only reliable when it came to “certain kinds of business.” There was no way An Han could trust him.

After getting his women’s clothes back, An Han walked straight out of the campus.

He and Long Xing had agreed to meet under the broken streetlight near the school field. But there was no guarantee they’d stay in that dark spot, and if they moved into a brighter area, someone might easily notice something strange about him.

Too bad he didn’t know how to do makeup...

He sighed again, but just then, everything suddenly went dark before his eyes, and he ran straight into something.

“Ow!”

An Han took a few steps back, holding his head in pain. He looked up angrily.

“Watch where you’re going!” Su Peng’s snacks had spilled all over the ground. He was heartbroken about that, but when he saw An Han’s teary eyes from the pain, he could only sigh helplessly and ask, “You okay? Does it hurt?”

“Your chest! What are you wearing?!” An Han grimaced and pointed at Su Peng’s chest.

Su Peng blinked and looked down. “Nothing. Just muscle.”

“I’ve never even seen you work out!”

“I had a good base from before, maybe?”

An Han glanced down at his own soft chest, rubbed his forehead, and felt his anger rise.

Why does everyone have a better body than me?!

“What are you up to anyway?” Su Peng walked closer and pulled a tissue from his snack bag. “Here, wipe your tears.”

“Tears, my ass!”

The pain had made An Han’s eyes water, but he just wiped them away with the back of his hand, glaring at Su Peng furiously.

Su Peng shrugged with a smile. “How’s that my fault? You’re the one who ran into me.”

“You couldn’t have moved aside?!”

“I was checking my phone.”

While speaking, Su Peng peeked at the bag in An Han’s hand. That made An Han realize what was happening, he quickly folded the top of the bag and looked at Su Peng warily.

“Women’s clothes?”

“No!”

“I saw a wig.”

An Han’s face darkened, but then he remembered that Su Peng already knew about him wearing women’s clothes before. That thought calmed him a little, but he still warned him again.

“Don’t tell anyone about this.”

“I know, I know, our little secret, right?”

“Yes! Our secret, just between us!” An Han nodded seriously.

But there was a teasing look in Su Peng’s eyes as he said with a smirk, “You don’t actually like wearing women’s clothes, do you?”

“No, of course not. Something just came up. I’m only taking these somewhere to throw them away.”

Of course, An Han wouldn’t admit it. He quickly stepped around Su Peng, lowering his head and walking away in small, hurried steps.

Su Peng jogged after him. “Want me to help?”

“How could I possibly need your help?!”

[Option 1: Say nothing and refuse Su Peng’s help.

Reward: Transformation Magic Wand.]

[Option 2: Confess your true feelings to him and ask for help.

Reward: Tea Art Skill.]

[Option 3: Accept his help.

Reward: Random Attribute Point.]

The system showed up now, of all times?!

An Han looked back at Su Peng in surprise. His eyes were unfocused, but there was a faint look of hope and expectation in them.

Su Peng froze, feeling his heart skip a beat at that gaze. “If something’s wrong, I’ll help you fix it!” he said.

But An Han was actually just looking at the system interface.

“No… no need.”

He smiled faintly at Su Peng, a smile that made Su Peng’s scalp tingle.

A new mission!

But the rewards didn’t make sense at all. Tea art? A magic wand? What was that supposed to mean?

Still, simply refusing and staying quiet would get him the best reward, and that was what he had planned to do anyway.

The problem was… Option 1 rewards were always the best and the hardest to complete.

An Han couldn’t figure out how something as simple as refusing help could possibly be considered a difficult mission.
