Chapter 27: Discovery

Being mistaken for a woman really surprised An Han.

Even though his body had indeed become more feminine, he thought his voice hadn’t changed much, right?

Still confused, An Han pushed open the dorm room door and saw that only Wang Sheng was inside, packing his luggage.

“They both left already?”

“They grabbed their suitcases and left right after class.”

After today, the National Day holiday would begin, meaning all his roommates would leave. That also meant An Han could finally throw away the women’s clothes and stop worrying about anyone finding out.

No more fear of getting beaten up.

Thinking that, his mood instantly improved. He even felt a little excited.

Finally, he could get rid of the aftermath of that first mission!

Leaning against the wardrobe with his arms crossed, he asked Wang Sheng, “So, what’s your plan for the holiday?”

“Going for a tryout.”

“Tryout?”

“A gaming club invited me to test for a spot.”

Wang Sheng had always dreamed of becoming a professional e-sports player. Everyone in class knew about it, and many liked to tease him for chasing something unrealistic.

Although An Han didn’t think it would work out either, he didn’t say much. He just yawned and said, “You’re moving so slowly, can you even catch your train?”

“I can make it.”

Since that was settled, An Han changed the subject to something that had been bothering him. “Hey, Wang Sheng, how does my voice sound?”

“Your voice?”

“Yeah, when you hear me talk, does it sound… girly?”

They say that when you hear your own voice, it travels through your bones, so it sounds deeper than it really is. Recordings, on the other hand, can make it sound fake or distorted.

Wang Sheng turned around, thought for a moment, and replied, “It used to sound normal, but lately… maybe you caught a cold? It sounds kind of… neutral?”

“Neutral?”

So it was true, he always thought his voice sounded deep and manly, but apparently not.

No wonder people mistook him for a girl: neutral voice, neutral face, and now that ridiculous “cute movements” trait from the system…

Casually, he walked over to his bed and stood on tiptoe to look at the upper bunk.

The next second, his heart suddenly started racing.

“Wang Sheng! Did someone touch my bed?” His voice went high without him realizing it.

Wang Sheng looked puzzled. “I don’t know.”

An Han swallowed hard. Ever since Wang Sheng had once found the bag of women’s clothes hidden in his desk, he had moved it to his bed, keeping it close so it would stay secret.

After all, his roommates wouldn’t climb up to his bunk and dig through his blankets or pillows. As long as he was careful, it should’ve been the safest place in the dorm.

But the problem was… someone had clearly moved his blanket!

“Did we lock the door when we went to class at noon?”

“Should’ve. Brother Long was in charge of locking it, he wouldn’t forget.”

An Han frowned deeply, climbing up to his bed. He lifted the blanket to check the hidden clothes, and his uneasiness grew stronger.

The women’s clothes themselves hadn’t been touched, but the blanket had clearly been pulled back. Whoever did it didn’t even bother to hide it, they just stuffed the clothes back under the blanket.

“What’s wrong?” Wang Sheng had finished packing and looked up at An Han, who was on the upper bunk. “Did someone steal something?”

“Someone came in and touched my stuff.”

“As long as nothing’s missing, it’s fine,” Wang Sheng said to comfort him, but then suddenly realized something. “Oh—maybe it was the counselor? Didn’t they say in the group chat that there would be a dorm hygiene inspection this afternoon?”

An Han held back his anger and asked, “The hygiene inspection even checks the beds?”

“You didn’t read the notice? They said the blankets had to be folded neatly and everything.”

He didn’t know what to say anymore and could only sigh quietly.

If it really was the counselor, that should be fine. He just hoped it wasn’t a student who knew him.

His phone suddenly buzzed, a new friend request on WeChat.

In the past few days, Long Xing had been following the plan he and Chen Junjie discussed, stubbornly trying again and again to add An Han as a friend.

His already bad mood instantly got worse.

“I’m heading out, okay?” Wang Sheng said when he noticed the gloomy look on An Han’s face. It was rare for him to show concern. “Be careful when you’re alone in the dorm.”

“I know.”

An Han sighed deeply and lay back on his bed.

After the sound of the door closing, the only thing left in the room was his slightly heavy breathing.

He was so frustrated he could barely take it anymore.

Why did so many random problems keep showing up lately? He could barely keep up with them all.

Taking off his jacket, he used his hands to check his chest area. Thankfully, there didn’t seem to be any further “changes.” That, at least, was good news.

“The chest binder I ordered will arrive tomorrow,” he muttered.

“But how am I supposed to wash it in a shared dorm?”

When he ordered it, he hadn’t thought that far. Now he realized that in a dorm like this, using and hiding a chest binder would be a pain.

Wearing a jacket could barely cover it for now…

But just to stay covered, he hadn’t dared to shower for two days straight. It was summer, and he was terrified his roommates would notice his figure if he undressed.

“What a stupid system.”

He cursed under his breath and pulled out his phone, opening WeChat.

He couldn’t stand seeing any red notification dots on his apps, so even though he knew the new friend request was probably just Long Xing bothering him again, he still opened it to clear the notification.

But the moment he did, his heart almost stopped.

“Added by phone number?”

“Wait… what?”

“Did I link my WeChat to my phone number?”

That meant Long Xing had used his phone number to find the WeChat account of the girl he liked!

When they last met while he was cross-dressing, that should have completely removed Long Xing’s suspicions! So why would he still try to add him by phone number?

Didn’t this mean… he was totally exposed?!

Cold sweat ran down his back, and his heart was pounding so hard it hurt. He panicked but didn’t know what to do.

Reject the request—fast!

But just as his thumb hovered over the “Reject” button, he paused. Maybe things weren’t that bad.

After all, Long Xing had already gone home for the holiday. Even if he was angry, he couldn’t just fly back to the dorm to beat him up.

An Han tried to calm down, but he still couldn’t figure out how he had slipped up.

“Could the person who went through my blanket be Brother Long?”

“But Brother Long isn’t that kind of guy…”

These days, to cover up the strange “sweet smell” that came from his body, he’d forced himself to drink a carton of milk every meal. He even pretended to spill milk on his clothes in front of his friends a few times just to make it seem normal.

Whenever he was around his roommates, he tried his best to act more masculine. He even made sure to put on his jacket before getting out of bed in the morning, though Chen Junjie had teased him for it several times.

The women’s clothes had only been found today, but so far, no one had teased or blackmailed him over it.

Everything should’ve been perfect, right?

He just couldn’t figure it out. So, silently, he stared at the friend request on his screen.

At least explaining things online would be less awkward than doing it face-to-face, and he wouldn’t have to worry about getting punched halfway through the conversation.

The seven-day National Day break should be enough time for Long Xing to cool off.

“What the heck…” he groaned, grabbing his head and rolling halfway across his bed.

Dorm beds were tiny, she could barely turn over.

“What if Long Xing’s actually one of those weird guys who only cares about looks, not gender?” he muttered in horror. “His Bilibili and TikTok feeds are full of those cross-dressing creators!”
