Chapter 5: Danger Everywhere

Late at night, An Han, still wearing women’s clothes, carefully opened the dorm room door.

He peeked inside and saw his roommates were still asleep, so he breathed a sigh of relief and tiptoed in.

Luckily none of his roommates stayed up tonight.

He didn’t have time to change. He hurried to the balcony bathroom, used the toilet, and then went to wash his face, pouring cool water over it with both hands.

He was exhausted.

It felt like he had just run a long race, and doing it while so nervous used up a lot of energy.

At the same time, a system window suddenly appeared in front of him.

【Mission complete.

Mission reward: “Charm” trait. Additionally gain 10 favor points from Long Xing.

Charm trait: Everyone will gain +10 favor toward you.

Favor level: Keep below 80. Above 100 has unknown risks.】

Finally, the mission was finished.

Too bad the reward wasn’t simple and big, a house would have been better.

An Han checked the mission panel excitedly, then focused on the “favor” number.

What’s that? Brother Long gave me 10 favor points?

That must come from the Charm trait, but the warning about 100 points being risky confused him.

“My system is so lame. No AI to explain things to me.”

The mission panel faded away, and An Han muttered in complaint, “Look at other people’s systems, they’re so helpful. Mine only shows up to give tasks or say the mission is done. Other times it never answers.”

Time to change clothes!

“This outfit actually feels pretty good.”

It wasn’t that An Han had a thing for women’s clothes. He just liked the cool, tight feeling of the stockings on his legs.

The clothes were light and soft. Used to loose casual pants, An Han felt the skirt was oddly free and comfortable... he really wasn’t a pervert.

Just as he was about to go back to his room, his eyes caught the balcony next door.

Someone was there!

An Han froze and held his breath.

The dorms are built in pairs; the balconies sit right next to each other. The student on the next balcony was less than ten meters away.

He glanced at the other person and recognized him. Su Peng, Wu Dongming’s roommate and a friend they jokingly called “apprentice.”

When An Han looked down at his short skirt and stockings, his heart sank.

The other student was looking at him with a curious face. An Han didn’t know if Su Peng had seen his face clearly, or if he was just wondering why there was a woman outside a boys’ dorm. But if he was recognized...

That would be total social death.

He panicked. His whole body trembled. The most important thing now was to make sure the other student didn’t see his face.

An Han quickly turned off the balcony light, moved silently back into the room, and kept very still.

If Su Peng didn’t see his face clearly, maybe he would just think someone brought a girlfriend to the dorm to spend the night.

Maybe tomorrow An Han could try to test Su Peng gently and see what he had noticed…

He walked to the wardrobe, glanced at his roommate sleeping on the lower bunk beside it, opened the door, and used it to block his body as he started changing out of the women’s clothes.

The dorm was a four-person room with bunk beds. There were two metal-frame beds, four desks, and two wardrobes placed symmetrically on each side of the narrow walkway. An Han shared a wardrobe with his lower-bunk roommate, so there was no privacy at all. The only thing he could do was hide the women’s clothes deep inside, mixed together with his winter clothing.

This whole day had completely worn him out.

But there was still something he had to do.

Moving quietly, he changed back into his regular clothes. After taking a short rest, An Han put on his sneakers, hid the small leather shoes in a shoebox, grabbed a chair, and left the dorm.

He still needed to help Long Xing, who couldn’t get back into the school.

An Han was a kind person, he couldn’t just leave his roommate sleeping on the street.

“Brother Long!”

Carrying the chair, he ran to the back gate. Through the iron fence, he immediately saw Long Xing sitting on the ground, playing on his phone.

Long Xing looked up in surprise, waving excitedly. “Xiao Han! How did you know I got locked out?”

“I woke up to use the bathroom and saw your message in the group chat.”

Catching his breath, An Han lifted the chair in his hands. “Step back, I’ll throw the chair over so you can climb up.”

As he spoke, he raised the chair and tossed it high over the fence. It landed with a thud on the other side.

It was a plastic chair, about forty centimeters tall, one of several stacked in their dorm for cooking hotpot or meals.

“Xiao Han, you’re the best!”

“Just bring me lunch tomorrow, and we’re even.”

“I love you, man!”

Long Xing was tall. Standing on the chair, he could just reach the top of the wall with his fingertips. After a night of cold wind, his drunkenness had faded, so climbing over was easy. In no time, he landed safely inside the campus and walked over to An Han.

“I’ll grab the chair tomorrow, yeah?” Long Xing looked back at it, then threw an arm around An Han’s shoulders, grinning. “Bro, you won’t believe it, I just met this super pretty girl!”

“……”

An Han’s smile froze instantly.

“She looked a lot like you, but she was way prettier.”

“Of course she was prettier, I’m a guy. I can only be handsome, not pretty.”

They walked side by side toward the dorm building, Long Xing still talking excitedly about what happened. “She was kinda shy too, didn’t say a word the whole time.”

“After I helped her over the wall, she ran off right away. Can you believe that?”

“Well, you do look like a gangster.”

“I wanted to get the tattoo removed, but it hurts too much.” Long Xing sighed. “Didn’t know better when I was young. Thought it looked cool. Now I just wonder how many girls it’s scared off.”

“Then at least grow your hair out,” An Han teased, relaxing now that he knew he hadn’t been exposed. He joked back and forth with Long Xing as usual. “Don’t tell me you actually like that girl?”

“I do!”

“Love at first sight?”

“Exactly!”

“???”

You fell in love with your roommate in women’s clothes and you’re proud of it?!

An Han stared at him in disbelief.

“You don’t get it, bro! She had short hair, a short skirt, long stockings, totally my type! I love cool, confident girls like that!”

“So, you like tomboys?”

“They’re not tomboys, they’re bold and charming!”

“Your ‘type’ needs a system reboot,” An Han muttered helplessly.

Looks like he’d better get rid of that outfit soon. If Long Xing ever found out that the girl he liked was actually his own roommate… their friendship would either sink like a rock or turn into something even worse.

That would be terrifying.

Thinking about it, An Han realized, the system had only shown up for one day, and already his life was full of danger.
