Lin Yibai leaned back in her computer chair, closed her eyes, and just waited quietly.
And no, this wasn’t a false police report or anything. With her eyes closed and a faint smile on her face, she said to herself, “I told you before, companies like this always seem a little fishy. Just a simple check, and the police will have plenty to do.”

Some of the so-called “employees” were already trying to run. Only one calm girl sat there, still humming her tune, watching as Teacher Liu came rushing out of the meeting room in a panic.
Then came the angry voices of the “investors” who were starting to question everything.
Zhou Ling and the other girls were completely stunned. They stood to the side, not knowing what to do. Some of them looked like they were about to cry.
One girl asked nervously, “What do we do? The police are here.”
Zhou Ling was at a loss too. She stammered, “I-I don’t know what to do either. Why would the police come here?”
Another girl whispered, “Could it be that Teacher Liu really is up to something bad?”
Someone else said, “I knew something was wrong. The things Teacher Liu made us do felt just like a pyramid scheme.”
The girls all started chattering,
“Are we going to be taken away by the police too?”
“What? Arrested? No way! I haven’t even graduated yet… I still want to take the civil service exam. If I get a criminal record, my whole life is over!”
“This is all your fault, you insisted we come here!”

“Does this mean we helped a criminal?”

Things were quickly getting out of control. If this went on, their friendships might not survive it. They were scared, angry, and blaming each other.
Finally, Lin Yibai got up from her chair. She thought, “If I don’t go over and calm them down now, I’m afraid they’ll start fighting among themselves and never talk again.”
She stretched slowly, showing off her beautiful figure. Then she looked over at Zhou Ling and the others.
Zhou Ling happened to look over at Lin Yibai, her eyes full of a silent plea for help.
She didn’t really know why she trusted Lin Yibai, but she just did. No need to think too hard about it, sometimes trust is enough.
She quickly walked over, grabbed Lin Yibai’s hand, and spoke sweetly, “Baiyi, look, everyone’s so anxious right now. Do you have any ideas?”
Lin Yibai replied, “Yes.”
The girls’ eyes lit up, and they urged her, “Baiyi, you’re the smartest! Since you have an idea, hurry up and tell us! We’re dying over here!”
Lin Yibai said, “Just watch the show.”
Zhou Ling gasped. “What? Watch the show? Now? Things are already out of control! How can you be in the mood to watch anything?”
Lin Yibai shrugged and answered, “What else can we do? The one who broke the law is Teacher Liu. What does that have to do with us?”
Zhou Ling’s eyes lit up again. “Yes! Exactly! We just came here because we saw the job posting at school. So why should we take the blame? That Teacher Liu guy—ugh, forget ‘Teacher’—he’s just a bald middle-aged man. He’s more like Liu the Loser.”
Ew. When there’s trouble, he’s “Teacher Liu.”
When there’s no trouble, he’s just some random loser?
Anyway, no need to explain too much. Lin Yibai told them all to play dumb. Just say they saw a job ad at a school job fair and came to check it out. That’s it.
And besides, they weren’t the only students there. There were others from different schools too!
Lin Yibai patted her chest and said confidently, “No matter what happens next, I’ll talk to the police. Leave it to me.”
After all, she was the one who called the police in the first place. She had to go talk to them anyway. Now she was just using a different approach.
The other girls were so touched that they all said things like,
“Starting today, Baiyi, you’re our best friend in dorm 672.”

Lin Yibai started to feel a little guilty and quietly said, “I’ll go talk to the police as your representative. You girls should just take the bus and go back to school.”

She was joking, but the police actually took it seriously. Plus, Lin Yibai looked presentable and had a good image.
One officer said, “She wants a banner? Sure, give her one. And let’s invite her to film a public service ad about fraud prevention. Do you think she’ll say no?”

But that was just the police department’s idea. Whether she agreed or not still depended on what Lin Yibai wanted.
If she wasn’t interested, even giving her a banner wouldn’t help.
