Chapter 260: A Little Water Soothes the Soul, Too Much Water Can Hurt the Body, What Do You Think?
Did he want to try it? Of course he did, he was a normal man.
As everyone knows, Lin Yibai’s chest was big and beautiful. Was it really okay for her to tempt someone like this?
“Two, one!!”
As the girl finished her countdown, she smiled proudly like she had just won a game.
With her red lips, she picked up the straw again with her mouth, like she was saying, ‘You think you can drink my milk tea? Think again!’
Xia Changyu slowly released the brake and continued driving along the long, busy streets of the city.
But he wasn’t planning to let her win that easily.
At the very least, he should fight back a little, right?
He turned a corner, left the main road, and suddenly stepped on the brake, stopping the car by the roadside.
Lin Yibai took another small sip of milk tea, still not sure what he was trying to do. But then she saw it. His "evil hand" was reaching toward her chest, going straight for the milk tea cup sitting on top.
‘Just one sip!!’
Xia Changyu thought, even if he only gets one sip, it still counts as a win.
But the more he thought about it, the more he realized. No, one sip isn't enough.
He didn’t just want to win. He wanted to completely win.
Lin Yibai quickly switched to emergency mode.
Since they'd been in the car and she’d been sipping, there wasn’t much milk tea left. So she took a deep breath...
Then she gulped down the rest of the drink in one go, her face full of smug mischief, like she was saying, ‘Ha! I already drank it all. What can you do now?’
Just give up! No shame in losing!
Seeing her puffed-up cheeks full of milk tea, Xia Changyu couldn’t help but laugh in disbelief.
“Alright, alright, so that’s how you wanna play, huh? Don’t blame me for fighting dirty then!”
Before Lin Yibai could swallow the tea—
Xia Changyu moved like the wind, striking with lightning speed.
One hand quickly unbuckled his seatbelt and pushed the seat back to give himself space.
The other hand gently touched the girl’s cheek… and while Lin Yibai looked confused, he softly pinched her puffed-up cheeks.
‘Pff~’
A white stream of milk tea squirted out from the side of her mouth and landed right in the web of Xia Changyu’s hand.
"Hey—glug glug—mmph, wait, the car… it’s getting dirty?" Lin Yibai tried to hint that this might mess up the inside of the car.
But before she could finish her sentence, she felt something move closer.
Xia Changyu’s hand pressed even more firmly, making more milk tea leak out.
Then, she felt something warm at the corner of her mouth...
Xia Changyu drank the rest of the milk tea straight from her lips. After a few seconds, he pulled back and said with great satisfaction.
“See? I knew it, milk tea tastes better when it’s still warm.”
Lin Yibai’s face turned bright red. “You… you…”
Xia Changyu raised an eyebrow and calmly asked, “What? You got something to say?”
Lin Yibai said, “How could you do something like that?”
Xia Changyu snorted, but then his eyes softened and he smiled, “You’re asking me how I could do that? Maybe ask yourself, who started this little game first?”
Lin Yibai: “So… how did it taste?”
Xia Changyu: “Not bad.”
Lin Yibai: “Just ‘not bad’?”
Xia Changyu thought for a second, then said, "The milk tea is not bad, but when combined with my girlfriend's flavors, it becomes smooth, sweet, and full of flavor. I hope I can have a cup like that every day, is that okay?"
Lin Yibai: “Keep dreaming.”
After Xia Changyu adjusted his seat and fastened his seatbelt, he started the car again.
This time, thankfully, nothing unexpected happened. Lin Yibai also didn’t try any risky tricks while he was driving.
Today, Xia Changyu was treating her to a meal.
They ordered a lot of dishes and brought them back to the apartment. Salted duck, pork knuckle, big shrimp, stir-fried vegetables, and a bowl of clam and tofu soup.
Surprisingly, Lin Yibai didn’t complain about him wasting money today. That’s because her mind was completely focused on a banner. She kept opening her phone, checking her contacts, and even thought about sending a photo...
But in the end, she just couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Xia Changyu noticed something was on her mind and asked curiously, “What’s wrong? This is supposed to be a happy thing, but you look kind of worried.”
Lin Yibai froze for a moment, then quickly replied, “Ah… It’s nothing! Really!”
Actually, she was just thinking about home.
When something exciting like this happens, it’s natural for someone living away from home to want to share it with their family, right?
She wanted to make a phone call. Or maybe take a selfie and send it to her family.
Feeling a little down, Lin Yibai peeled a shrimp for her boyfriend and placed it in his bowl, then asked, “By the way, are you going back home for Chinese New Year?”
Xia Changyu thought the question was a bit strange. He shrugged and said, “If I’m not going home for New Year, what would I even do here in Fucheng… Wait, hold on a second.”
According to tradition, of course you’d go home for New Year, right?
But after thinking for a moment, Xia Changyu’s first reaction was... Wait, is she not going home?
Now it felt like a big life decision. If your girlfriend isn’t going home for New Year, what should you do?
1 . Go home.
2 . Don’t go home, stay and keep her company.
The answer was obvious. If you want to keep your girlfriend, you stay.
Lin Yibai noticed how troubled he looked, and she could guess what Xia Changyu was thinking. She smiled gently and said,
“Don’t overthink it. I was just asking whether you’re going home or not. If anyone should be worried, it’s me, right? I still need to think about whether I should stay here and keep you company!”
Well, well, well.
What a smooth reversal. Right away, Xia Changyu’s worried face turned into a happy one.
‘See? That’s my girlfriend. So sweet and thoughtful it makes my heart melt.’
He was so touched that he stood up, ready to go over and hug her.
But Lin Yibai quickly moved her seat away and said, “Nope, don’t even try it.”
Xia Changyu, trying to play innocent, said, “What do you mean? I wasn’t gonna do anything.”
Lin Yibai gave him a cold smile and said, “Oh, come on! The moment you got up, I already knew what you were planning.”
Every time he got that close, nothing good happened.
At the very least, it would turn into a round of kisses, hugs, lifting her up, and then… all kinds of things.
Sometimes Lin Yibai wondered if she was being too cold-hearted for keeping him at arm’s length.
Xia Changyu pretended to be sad, “You didn’t used to be like this… sigh, people change.”
A "#” symbol seemed to pop up on Lin Yibai’s forehead. She picked up a big piece of meat and put it in his bowl, saying,
“Still talking? Keep going and you can forget about even touching my sofa tonight.”
Xia Changyu looked shocked, “No, please! That’s the part of the day I look forward to the most. If I lose the sofa, I don’t even know what I’m living for anymore.”
Why does Lin Yibai keep some distance?
Well, let’s just say the body reacts… and she doesn’t want to end up doing “this and that” every single day.
Like some authors who write long, pointless chapters from morning to night, just dragging things out.
From morning till night, that’s too much.
A little bit at night? That’s fine.
It’s just a simple calculation. A little water brings joy, but too much water hurts the body.
And Lin Yibai definitely knows how to make the right choice.
